A World Tour of Amazing Arches

"Spanning the calm Ardèche River, the Pont d’Arc is a colossal geologic feature that acts as a gate to the Ardèche Canyon where the world’s oldest cave paintings are located. Carved out of a solid stone wall over millennia, the large stone arch is often thought of as the gateway to the winding canyon. Countless canoe enthusiasts flock to the site each year to swim and embark on leisurely trips downstream. The rocky overpass also gives its name to the nearby Chauvet-Pont d’Arc Cave which contains the world’s oldest cave paintings and was made famous by the Werner Herzog documentary, “Cave of Forgotten Dreams.”" - ATLAS_OBSCURA

Go really early if you want to see its natural beauty. Otherwise still amazing natural bridge but hundreds of tourists and canoes swerving around

Pont d’Arc is a truly beautiful and peaceful place to visit, perfect for a fun day out with friends or family. The natural stone arch over the river is stunning and makes for great photos. It’s an ideal spot for swimming, relaxing by the water, or just enjoying a picnic in nature. If you enjoy water sports, this is the place! Kayaking, rafting, and paddleboarding are very popular here. The river is calm in many spots, making it safe and enjoyable even for beginners. Just make sure to book water activities in advance, especially during holidays and weekends – it gets busy! The whole area is clean, well maintained, and full of natural beauty. You’ll find small beaches around the river where you can sit and relax. There are also walking paths and shaded spots under trees. Parking is available nearby, but it can be full during long weekends or peak hours. It’s best to come early if you're visiting on a busy day. Overall, Pont d’Arc is a must-visit if you’re in the Ardèche region. Whether you want adventure or just a peaceful time in nature, it has something for everyone.

Went in the evening, quiet and great for an evening swim. The mosquitos arrive quite suddenly though.

Lovely place to go with the family. It was budget friendly as we brought some snacks and the kids could swim. Tip: bring along camping chairs or towels to be able to sit comfortably. Parking P2 was very close by, and P3 was further (10/15+/- minutes maybe longer) if you enjoy a good walk. It was so much nicer than expected, and there was sufficient space for everyone. It didn't feel crowded at all given the touristic nature of the place.

Beautiful natural bridge worth seeing in Ardeche. I recommend taking the shuttle to park easily. The beach can be crowded but it's nice to jump in the river anyways.

Amazing natural feature.Great area to hang out and swim.can get very busy.We grabbed a free bus to the area then later hired a kayak in the evening and enjoyed floating under it with less people about.Very calming.Nice beachy areas to picnic and go swimming. Hundreds of kayaks pass through this area each day.
