A World Tour of Amazing Arches

"Spanning the calm Ardèche River, the Pont d’Arc is a colossal geologic feature that acts as a gate to the Ardèche Canyon where the world’s oldest cave paintings are located. Carved out of a solid stone wall over millennia, the large stone arch is often thought of as the gateway to the winding canyon. Countless canoe enthusiasts flock to the site each year to swim and embark on leisurely trips downstream. The rocky overpass also gives its name to the nearby Chauvet-Pont d’Arc Cave which contains the world’s oldest cave paintings and was made famous by the Werner Herzog documentary, “Cave of Forgotten Dreams.”" - ATLAS_OBSCURA

Ample parking available even on bank holiday. Very pleasant family place with beach and walk down to various viewing points on good safe footpaths. Stunning clean amazing unique feature. Also take a drive up the hill past the Arc and stunning views with viewpoints.

Amazing natural feature.Great area to hang out and swim.can get very busy.We grabbed a free bus to the area then later hired a kayak in the evening and enjoyed floating under it with less people about.Very calming.Nice beachy areas to picnic and go swimming. Hundreds of kayaks pass through this area each day.

as an attraction I have to say it is impressive but access to car parks is difficult practically lost time waiting in line as well as lack of places. It is not known how many of these places there are, it is not known whether someone parks or not, it is unfortunately that all the attractions bring you to awaiting for an empty place . It's not dirty around but the cleaning service could visit the place more often. Fortunately, commercialization is not so conspicuous, but it is also hard not to notice it.

Beautiful natural site. Very busy. We parked at one of the designated sites and spent €10 for 3 hours. We walked around the site and 3hours turned out to be the right amount of time. In hindsight I think it would probably have been better to park in the town and get the free shuttle.

Well worth a visit,a nice place to sit and forget everything, just upriver canoes and kayaks are rented !! Small rapids take you under the limestone arch. The river is not too deep ,so swimming or paddling is possible. Free parking at 150 metres from the site.handicapped parking available, but access not very easy for wheelchairs.

To fully enjoy the beauty of the Pont d'Arc it's better to visit in the early evening. During the day there are too many people. It's a beautiful location. The gorges and the Stone bridge are unbelievable. You can swim, sun, jump from the bridge. There are a few parkings nearby to park your car.
