Beautiful hotel in a quiet setting, though easily walkable to the fun. The kindest staff, and I truly mean at every shift, as I had multiple interactions with staff throughout our stay. Quaint pool setting with comfy chairs and fluffy towels. We had a balcony on the front side which was nice because that side stays shaded. Beautiful decorated common areas and rooms. Comfortable, soft beds, sheets, pillows. Our bathroom looked newly remodeled and clean. Finally, we had a mini fridge! We were so happy there and absolutely loved our trip to NOLA.

My sister and I enjoyed staying here! Bryan went above and beyond for us and provided great recommendations in the area! The hotel was close to different restaurants and bars and was fairly quiet to be in the French quarter. Our room was spacious and was cleaned every single day. Next time I’m in New Orleans, I know exactly where to stay.

Had a group of 19 stay at Le Richelieu. Marisol and her staff were excellent. Service was very good in general. Location in the lower east section of the French Quarter could not be beat. Overall, the hotel is very clean and well preserved for an almost 200 year old building. The atmosphere in the main lobby is clean and classy. Bar wasn't open, but they are just about done getting that issue finalized with the city. The value was excellent. A lot of bang for your buck.

We were stopping through for the night on our way back home, and found an excellent deal at this property. It’s in walking distance to all of the places we wanted to see, and the property was beautiful! The gated parking was a huge bonus. The front desk clerk Rebecca was so kind and welcoming, her hospitality made this stay even more enjoyable. She was smiling every time we entered and exited the lobby, and always greeted us with warmth. We would definitely stay here again in the future!

Wonder staff! They opened the gate for us when we arrived. Very hospitable and clean rooms! Exceptional services and friendly staff. A block away from the French Market and half block from tasty Expresso Bar called Envie & cafe. The public transportation streetcar is two blocks away that takes you to the Caesars Casino or Canal Street where the heart of actions is and let’s not forget the Natchez Steamboat. Amazing experience and my truck was in a safe locked gated area. Definitely will be back here!!! Next time I’m coming to visit Jazz museum. Go Saints!!! Who Dat!!

This is a nice remodel hotel. Front desk people were all helpful. Room was very clean. Parking easy and a lot for a fee out back. Old building that's been redone. Nice old balconies. Mix of old and new like New Orleans. Near Bourbon Street but not loud. Nice cold pool on a hot August day. Don't expect a Hyatt expect real New Orleans. Come in with a smile. I would definitely stay again.

This is a beautiful and historically rich building. The room (King bed with balcony) was amazing! With such a short walk to Frenchman st, Bourbon st and The French Market it is a perfect spot! Becky at the front desk was friendly and welcoming! The pool is lovely!

I am very picky when it comes to choosing a hotel in a city that I have never been before. Previous Google reviews helped me to choose here, and I am glad I chose here. Great location where you are still in French Quarter, but still had walkable distance from the main tourist attractions. The room was spacious. The bed was comfy. The hotel check in and check out process went smoothly. I also liked that there was a gated parking on-site where you did not have to stress about finding a place to park. It is paid, but honestly it's a good value considering you don't have to stress about where to park. The room temperature was great. The swimming pool here was cute too! I would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
We loved our stay at Le Richelieu! We stayed for 6 nights. The room was spacious and clean, and the hotel had a historic charm to it. The area is in a quieter, lesser traveled part of the French Quarter, but we didn't feel unsafe walking around. It's also very close to the jazz bars on Frenchmen Street, so if you're over the Bourbon St. scene, it's in a great location. Also very close to Jackson Sq. and the French Market. Walkable to anywhere in the quarter. Whenever we received turndown service, everything looked so nice. The room was very clean, spacious, the bed was comfortable and I think it was a good value. Everyone we spoke to at the front desk was also very kind and helpful. The pool is also a huge plus! I would definitely stay at Le Richelieu again and recommend it to anyone traveling to New Orleans.

Yelp
Le Richelieu Hotel is billed as a luxury boutique hotel in the French quarter. It has old time New Orleans charm and captivating ambiance. There are stunning wood carved chairs and tables in the lobby, the rooms have hard wood floors, an adequate bathroom with a soft comfortable bed (I booked the king deluxe). My coffee maker was not working and even though they took over 2 hours to replace it (with a brand new one), the front desk staff was superb, in all respects. In addition, I had communicated with them, by text, numerous times before getting here. Each and every time, they replied promptly, within 15 minutes. I came to NOLA to indulge in the dining scene and did not know that a bonus opportunity was about to present itself. Although the main Mardi Gras parades are in early March, there are warm up parades weeks prior (something I was not aware of), sometimes multiple events per day, albeit at different locations in the city. So, I tasked Connor, the evening reception desk clerk, to get me top notch balcony tickets, for the afternoon parade (in the French quarter), on my last day there. Once again, Connor replied promptly (I was out on the town) and I was able to secure a ticket for a 2-5 pm Mardi Gras parade that included unlimited beverages and 3 foods, at the Cornet (look out for my review on this platform). Overall, I must say that it is not always that one hits a good stay. Hyperbole is magnetic and several hotels take it to the max and disappointingly, do not deliver. Le Richelieu does not fall into that category. They delivered, on all fronts, to make my visit to New Orleans (after over 3 decades), an eventful, satisfying and memorable stay. Merci.

Yelp
Le Richelieu Hotel (LRH) is a historic hotel located in New Orleans, Louisiana that I would describe as NOLA CHARM PERFECTION! (see pics & videos included w/ this review) In celebration of our 21st wedding anniversary (yep, love was in the air!) my hubby & I, stayed at LRH (Thurs., 09/26/2024 - Sun., 09/29/2024) & while, not our 1st time visiting NOLA, it definitely was our FAVORITE visit in NOLA. Here is why I'm giving Le Richelieu Hotel a well deserved five-star review: 1.) Location: LRH is located in a quiet area that is conveniently located w/in walking distance to the French Market (few blocks away), Cafe Du Monde (9 mins away), Frenchmen St., Frenchmen St. corridor (5 mins away), & many other NOLA gems. We enjoyed walking to Cafe Du Monde for the oh so, delicious beignets, sightseeing around Frenchmen St. (browse at Louisiana Music Factory & Cafe Negril for live music). We even walked to the Harley Davidson Store located on Bourbon St. , which was a little bit farther away but still very doable by foot. 2.) Room Amenities: Even though this hotel is historic (building built in 1845) the hotel & rooms have been renovated so it does feel both charming & updated. We stayed in room 301, 3rd floor (no balcony). Room was very spacious & clean (see pics & videos). Room did have a mini fridge, safe, iron, & iron board. No issues w/ hot water pressure in shower. A/C worked great. Housekeeping came daily to make up bed, take trash out, & give fresh towels. 3.) Noise: Feedback on poor soundproofing between guest rooms, as mentioned by previous reviews - we did briefly experience this but I came prepared & brought my mini JBL portable speaker just in case it was needed to help drown out noise from neighbors by playing brown noise or music. Glad to report that I only had to use it one time :). 4.) Parking: LRH does have its own private parking area that is gated & kept locked. Upon check-in you will be given a key fob to open parking gate as needed. The fob also unlocks the front door of the hotel (kept locked 7pm-7am). FYI, there is a call button located outside the gate that calls to the front desk, if needed. 5.) Outdoor Pool Onsite: The pool area at night is so magical! (see videos) Helpful Tidbits: 1.) Many of the surrounding food spots close by 10pm. 2.) Balcony Info: If you chose a room w/out access to the balcony no worries, because there a single private balcony that can be used by all guests, located on the 3rd floor. It has a small table & 2 chairs. You will need to unlock the lock at the top to open the double doors. I also wanted to share that many of the rooms on the 3rd floor w/ doors in room that open up to the SHARED balcony. (See video) Okay, if you've read this far..kudos to you! :)) You're in for a treat because the last piece of info that I wanted to share about our stay at Le Richelieu is an unexplainable experience for sure & dare I say...possibly paranormal?! So at 6am on the morning we were to check out, my hubby woke me up by pulling back the white duvet & sheets that I was sleeping under & when he did, we saw that there was bright red blood soaked on the bottom sheet near my lower legs (my legs not touching it) that had NOT been there when we went to sleep. This was not my blood. I had no blood on me or on any of the clothes I had worn the night before. Blood was not my hubby's. We have no idea how this blood got there. The blood had soaked down through the mattress topper and the mattress itself however, there was no blood on the top sheet. There also were a few blood droplets on the floor leading to the bed. For sure this wasn't old stained blood because it was bright red in color. My hubby actually wiped up the blood on the floor & then tried to clean the blood off the bedding & mattress (some of it came out but only a little bit). He didn't want us to lose our deposit. I was basically sleep walking (& a lil bit hungover) at that point while trying to gather my stuff so we could then check out & I just wasn't alert enough to take a picture of the blood (I know! I'm still kicking myself for that!!). Had I been fully awake :), I would have taken pics & videos for proof & would have told my hubby to not worry about cleaning it up because we didn't cause it. While this experience was definitely weird, it was not scary at all. I didn't say anything to the front desk staff when I returned the fob but I did send a message through the booking app. To sum it up, my hubby and I, TRULY ENJOYED our stay at Le Richelieu Hotel & will be returning guests the next time in NOLA. Hope this info helps! Rebecca visiting from Austin, Texas

Yelp
Love Le Richeliu! I'm so happy they are open again. I never stay anywhere else when in town. The staff are very polite and helpful and the rooms are always clean. The pool is perfect.

Yelp
Great location in a quiet residential area close to Frenchmen St. The rooms are clean and are a nice size. Comfortable bed and good ceiling fan. Nice wraparound balcony. Friendly desk staff. Lovely pool. There are just a few things that could greatly improve the hotel: newer and more furnishings (without wood stains), mirrors (one full length) in the room, better pillows (way too mushy and no others are available), replace towels without asking, reopen the bar, and expand the coffee station and offer breakfast! Apparently the hotel was sold and new management isn't very hands-on. Maybe one day they'll implement these small improvements. In the meantime it is a very decent, well-located place to stay.

Yelp
Nice place to stay in the French quarter. Walk a few blocks and on bourbon street. Staff very helpful in helping where to go and suggestions on food and drink. Parking around back is $45 a day but secure.

Yelp
This hotel was super clean/safe (from the main lobby to the hotel room), had welcoming and informative staff, gave us complimentary water when asked, and had a nice courtyard. You could hear people in other rooms sometimes but that did not bother us. The hotel also had staff calling and texting us that we could reach out to them ahead of time if we had any questions about our trip and/or reservations with them. The only thing I did not like is that the hotel was not going to honor a code we found when booking online, even though we called the hotel and confirmed with them ahead of time before booking with them that we could use the code that came with extra perks. They honored the drink coupon that came with it (but not other perks such as parking which is expensive), but this was the only negative experience I had with the staff during our 7 night stay. Would stay here again.

Yelp
What a lovely boutique hotel, we happened on this place on our next to last night in the city and although we don't have any plans in the near future to visit New Orleans we want to come back to stay here. We were simply taking a walk in the French quarter when we were invited inside by the the desk clerk/ concierge-Kent who is praise-worthy) he let us know the bar was open and so it was there we met Brian, the amazing bartender and the hotels historian ( he'd been working there 43 years and had single-handedly survived Katrina on site) there are pictures on the walls of the bar of all the celebrities that have stayed there including Debra Harry, Joan Baez , Billy Joel and even Greg from the Brady Bunch. The bar also sported an indoor patio which overlooked the saltwater pool where several 20-30 year olds were enjoying an evening swim. The entire vibe here was chill and we were delighted to learn that it is haunted although Brian is a non/believer. The room rates are surprisingly reasonable-the location is spot on and walking distance to Frenchman Street. Another huge bonus is that the hotel sports its own ample parking lot which is a rare gem in the French quarter, Stay here!!!

Yelp
Our daughter suggested this quaint hotel for our first stay in NOLA. It is vintage with classic charm. Very Clean and comfy. Friendly staff and awesome housekeeping ladies. Balcony is overlooking the street if you like to people watch. It's a short walk to Bourbon street and is centrally locally to go down by the river too. You can get anywhere in the French quarter easily from this location and it's quieter than Bourbon Street. Our room is a great size. Tv refrigerator and a coffee maker too. We had comfy king bed and the towels were large and soft. Only downside was the hotel's bar and restaurant which are poolside- were closed for renovations. Loved the secure parking lot with fence. Definitely will return next year to check out the bar/restaurant.

Yelp
The Completely renovated rooms are nice BUT no lounge or bar to socialize at, very sad bc it used to be fabulous before it sold( or was renovated) I do hope it reopens eventually this end of Chartres needs a classy warm little bar.

Fritz F.

Yelp
A perfectly located quaint old hotel in the quiet part of the Quarter. Nice, well-appointed rooms with comfortable beds. Many rooms have private balconies. Nice outdoor pool - alas, unheated, but it does heat up quickly on a sunny day for those who don't mind a chilly dip. Prepayment is an option for budget travellers. I'm told the charming little bar and restaurant will be re-opening soon.

Denise P.

Yelp
I sort of picked this hotel randomly and it exceeded my expectations. It is huge, taking over the whole block, but you wouldn't know it. The courtyard is amazing with a pool, and coffee in the morning. The staff were all very helpful. This hotel is within walking distance to any place you might like to go, except for a swamp tour. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars, and maybe this isn't fair given the charm of an older hotel, but we found we needed to plan to use hot water 15 minutes or more before we needed it. We got used to it. Would definitely stay again.

Yelp
This was a very nice vintage French style hotel. The front desk workers were always polite and helped save us money on parking. The only con I had was no fridge.

Charley B.

Yelp
The location was great; a 5-minute walk from Jackson square, but on the quieter side. Around the corner from the excellent breakfast spot, Cafe Envie. We walked everywhere. Friendly staff. Good sized rooms. Between the terrible pillows, noisy hallways, and infuriating horns, sleeping was very hard to come by. I'm sure it is hard for them to keep out the noises from outside, but the straight hallways with nothing on the floors or walls seem to make an echo chamber.

Flower P.

Yelp
Brittany made our stay perfect. She was warm and friendly and I thoroughly enjoyed talking to her. Everything was really wonderful. Thank you Brittany!

Carol B.

Yelp
Beautiful property, very well maintained. Staff very friendly and helpful. We were a little surprised with the room. It had apparently just been remodeled, but in a modern theme. Not what we expected at all. Only disappointment was that the restaurant was not operating. Only thing available was bottled water so we needed to leave the building to get coffee.

Yelp
We visited Le Richelieu in November 2015 and wanted to make another trip to New Orleans this fall... But plans have changed due to continues COVID-19 concerns. Thought you might want to know why we'd go back, so here is what we found on our last visit. We love, love, LOVE, Le Richelieu! A great location in the Lower French Quarter, it is close to Decatur and all that the French Quarter. But is just steps away from the Marginy District, that offers wonderful places to eat with a bit less of the hustle and bustle of the popular FQ attractions. Quiet neighborhood strolls to take in the architecture and gardens are a feature and close to the Le Richelieu. The staff provides outstanding service and recommendations on what to do and where to eat. Rooms are of ample size and beds are comfortable. Furnished with antiques, the rooms a nicely appointed. Some rooms have balconies that offer views out to the North so you can take in the roof tops of the French Quarter. The entire French Quarter is an easy walk or, get a pedicar right around the corner at the French Market. Rates are great, rooms are clean. Small dining area offers menus for all meals and the bar is cozy and friendly. We will be back, lie I said, when it is safe to get out and travel again.

Yelp
Aleesha was the best! Great place and very close to everything! Comfy bed and nice pool area!

Theresa F.

Yelp
Very clean, friendly staff and decent price. Next trip to the Big Easy will include a stay here.

Rebecca L.

Yelp
Fantastic. Great location, room clean and well appointed. Great outdoor patio area Would definitely stay in this hotel on a return trip to NOLA
google avatar

Emily D.

Yelp
I have mixed feelings about this place. Pros- great location. You really are in the heart of everything. You are close to all the attractions of the French Quarter. It has history. Many famous people have stayed here. Price was great! Sheets were soft. The saltwater pool was amazing and spoiled me for normal pools. Staff were friendly. Cons- WiFi and bathroom light worked only a portion of the time. Everything is older and outdated (carpet, tile, balcony, bedspread, elevator). Ice box is on the lower level. There are no coffee makers or refrigerators in the rooms.

Mike C.

Yelp
Very friendly staff, close to everything you want to be in the French Quarter. The front staff was very accommodating to any and all questions we had. I would definitely recommend and I would stay there again.
google avatar

Rennie R.

Yelp
We spent two nights at Le Richelieu and have no complaints. We were allowed the courtesy of checking in 40 minutes earlier (I've stayed at hotels where they give you your room key at the exact hour). The housekeeping staff ensured that the room was always tidy, bed was made, and linens were replaced. The courtyard swimming pool offers a relaxing setting to have a drink or to just sit back and reflect. I especially like the (French) colonial design of the hotel. Le Richelieu is locates in the French Quarter and is walking distance away from restaurants, bars and Jackson Square. I will definitely stay here again.

Yelp
I have stayed here many times. This hotel is very old but it's not bad! It's not my first choice but the location is amazing! Plus, they have a small free parking lot right beside the hotel. I'm always driving to NOLA, so that is important to me. The location couldn't be better, it's just off the Quarter, in walking distance to the riverfront & casino, Frenchman street, French Market, Jackson Square, Louie Armstrong park, wherever you want to go, you can pretty much walk there from this hotel or just jump on the streetcar, it's close by. Also, they have a very nice pool & very large balcony's that wrap all around the front of the building. Great for people watching & to kick back with a cold drink. The rooms are decorated like right out of the movie "Interview with a Vampire," and are quite large. Think lots of deep reds, gold, burgundy, French 19th Century style home with a private courtyard & pool. The pool area is quite lovely. It's kinda dated for a hotel but this is the French Quarter & a original old building/hotel so I think it's quite charming. If you want the whole French Quarter experience, you can def get that here. It's always decorated up nicely for the Holidays & I love that you get a real key to your door at this hotel. I have not experienced any hauntings but all the rumors told to us from the staff over the years, is that it's haunted. Haunted or not, I have always had a pleasant stay here & the service has always been great. Recommend.

Yelp
Absolutely loved this hotel! It was adorable, incredibly friendly staff, and just a few short blocks away from the heart of the French Quarter. It was nice and quiet at night which is what I was hoping for. We had breakfast there one morning, and the food was amazing. The restaurant had a sun room that overlooked the peaceful courtyard that had a pool and a lot of greenery. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I am coming back to New Orleans at the end of the year and am looking forward to staying here again.
google avatar

Brian B.

Yelp
Overall it was nice and quaint. Staff was friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable and it seemed clean. Although in one of the rooms the bed was broken free from the wall and would bang against the wall anytime one moved. The shower has no pressure and the water does not get hot. The toilet would be better suited for a pre-school. They also kept stealing our towels, first night 4 towels, then 3, then 2, then 1 and no bath mat, I had to go down to the front desk and ask for towels. The most disgusting part was on the last evening, a roach was crawling across the wall, which I killed without informing the wife, else the evening would've been hell as she tried to find another hotel and move. There is allegedly free open (unsecure) wifi, but I was never able to connect to any of the routers. It was not worth the rate.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel wonderful decor retro and old fashion Safe and secure gated parking lot Room service Great location friendly staff! It has great charm and old world ! Very New Orleans The bathroom is BLUE!
google avatar

Melissa A.

Yelp
Very authentic New Orleans Hotel- not for those who don't like creaky old floors that sag in all the right places and A building that is well cared for but shows it's age. Helpful and friendly Lourdes helped us upgrade when we were initially not satisfied with our room, to a lovely suite for a very reasonable fee. Housekeeping staff was present each day to straighten, provide clean towels, toiletries. Jeremy, the night security is the best, so professional and helpful, can't say enough good things about our interactions with him. They made us feel taken care of and at home for our 6 days with them. Thank you so much for a great New Orleans stay, would highly recommend.

Yelp
Smaller older spot off a side street by the quarter. Highlights: - Clean and spacious room with a full kitchen Midlights: - They use actual old school keys. Pretty cool but a pain to carry and only one of you're in a group. Lowlights: - Super super old and never updated. Decor and furniture is ancient and borderline creepy. - Elevator: small with a gate you open and close. - Can be paying 5 star bank for a 3 star at best place during popular event times. Did the job of having a place to sleep ok our last trip but I wouldn't recommend it over other spots.
google avatar

Jessica D.

Yelp
Great value for the money. Le Richelieu is out of the fray, but near enough to the action. Decor is seriously outdated, if you care about that sort of thing (our suite was a replica of Joan Holloway's apartment in Mad Men), but everything was spotlessly clean, and there were thoughtful amenities (and a fabulous walk in closet!). Beds are comfortable but not luxurious. The room was quiet in the evening, but early in the morning trucks rumble past - not great if you are a light sleeper. Coffee maker and provisions for coffee in the room were a nice touch. Choose this hotel if you want New Orleans flavor at a good price in a great location.

Yelp
This was my third time staying at LR. I love the area because you are close to everything but it is quiet. This trip was the first time we had a balcony and we loved it! With all that being said, this is an old hotel so if you don't like old you're not going to like it. The rooms are older decor, a/c and bathrooms. If you can get past that, I love the ambiance! The dining area is very small and they only offer breakfast and lunch, I believe. There are plenty of places around the area to find for meals. They do charge for parking, but it's a nice gated area. I think I'm going to attempt to drive 8 hours next time instead of paying 800.00 for airfare. I'd much rather pay 30.00/ night for parking, I usually end up paying that to park my car at the airport. The staff at the hotel have always been very good to us whether it is booking tours or giving us a portable room heater to help dry our wet clothes after getting soaked in the rain!

Yelp
Best hotel in the French quarter. Close to many things and yet far enough away!!! For an escape from the chaos of the training area 'bourbon street'. Wonderful breakfast options and bar.

Yelp
This review is for the back bar in the Le Richelieu Hotel 1234 Chartres. I've not stayed in the hotel only visited once , joining friends who were waiting in the bar. Good: comfortable bar stool, view to muted flat screen watching Tiger Woods don his 5th green jacket. Not so good: wine selection, actually I only encountered this once before in NOLA, but was unable to drink the Rose, which actually tuned out to be NOT a Rose but a blush Zin with WAAY lotta sugar. Barkeep said they had a white, red and that one. .. all below 2 buck chuck in the league tables. Less than 'not so good': Odour coming from the corner by the WC's, like a 'sick' hadn't been cleaned properly.
google avatar

Leslie D.

Yelp
Great Hotel! This was my first time staying here. It was so comfortable, clean, beautiful and easy to access. Becky at the front desk couldn't have been more welcoming and accommodating. She loves her job and you can tell! Brian, the bartender pours great drinks, he knows the history of the area and hotel (he's been their 37 plus years) and helped us order a late night sandwich from a delicious local resturant. He was delightful & I really enjoyed his company. All the employees were so nice, making sure you had everything you needed and were happy! I will definitely be coming back. Thank you for making my visit so special!!

Yelp
Location. Location. Location. That's pretty much the main reason to stay at this hotel. Frenchman St. is a five minute walk away, and you are only seconds away from the French Market which boasts a wide variety of vendors and food stalls for your daily knosh. Away from the general nonsensical madness of Bourbon Street and Jackson Square, you could easily explore Tremé or catch a city bus to the CBD or Garden District. The room we stayed in was caddy-corner to the pool near the parking garage. I thought it would be loud being near these two busy spots, but the room was so well-insulated that I didn't hear a peep at all. Our kitchenette was adorable (and hidden behind a mirror) and the bathroom was super clean. As this is a historic hotel, expect a tad bit of rustic feeling to everything. The kitchenette looked straight out of a 60s sampler. The concierges were extremely friendly and the housekeepers were equally attentive. Parking was $30 a day, a tad pricey, but the lot is private and gated so it's better than street parking. Overall, we love Le Richelieu. This is our second time staying at this hotel and we'll definitely consider it for future visits to NOLA.

Yelp
Hard to rate this hotel. I know the most of these places are older than dirt to preserve the feel of the town. Central air was ok. We come on a cold day and they had heat in the rooms and then the next day it was hotter so they had the cold air blowing. Front desk agent was extremely nice and informative. I will not blame her for not knowing when food deliveries are made as I'm sure that is the job of the kitchen manager, however I let her know that the kitchen was out of hash browns two days in a row and she said they order monthly. I then came back after the server told us they were out of fries and she said they should have got them in today....so do they order daily or monthly ??? Fishy...if they just forgot to order them I would've been ok with that but she was clearly lying and caught herself. The restaurant, oh boy. There was a larger white gentlemen who is just clearly fed up with his job. I saw him attempting to clean up a table out by the pool and then he just said fuck it and left the mess there. I also told him him how come you're out two days in a row and he said "it's annoying for me to" but in a defensive manner. It's not his fault so I'm not sure what he was so angry about. Someone needs to seriously retrain or talk to this guy or he needs to get his happiness right in his life cuz it SHOWS. The black gentlemen however was a delight. Very attentive , trying to pickup the slack for the other gentlemen( I do not remember their names, sorry) he had a sense of urgency. And before long he's gonna wear himself out if the other guys doesn't pick it up. I loved the freaking Cajun sausage eggs Benedict but they were out of the side dish which was hashbrowns which was fine because they subbed out for fries. The second day I came back and they were out again. I asked can I sub out a side salad and the server said I can't sub out a side salad but I can charge you for one.... bro you are clearly out of a side dish you should be able to sub out and compensate. I'm sure it could've been done but he wasn't even trying to listen to me. I would come back but request I don't get him as a server and if they don't have hashbrowns I'm not coming. Jeez, come on Richelieu! Your place could be even better without this guy!!!!

Yelp
This place was perfect. Room was clean and quiet, even on the first floor, well with the exception of a couple weird things that happened. I went to unlock the room door once after going for a walk and the door knob turned completely around. I thought my partner was on the other side about to open the door for me. I stood there for a minute and the door didn't open. So, I put my key in and opened the door. My partner was asleep on the bed. The next day, I left my partner and a friend in the room and went poolside to visit with some other friends. While I was gone my partner and friend heard the shower running, hairdryer running and thinking I was in the bathroom, wondered what was taking me to long and got up to check, of course I wasn't in the bathroom, I had been out by the pool the whole time. When we checked out we told the staff about these two things and she said a lot of people report the same thing about our room. She reports she's seen a little boy in the hallway of our room that's not there. We were in room 102. Food in restaurant was perfect and fairly priced. Pool was great, salt water. Location of hotel is quiet but just a few blocks from Bourbon and Farmers Market. Well within walk to Jackson Square and St. Louis Cemetery. Parking is $30 a day, right behind hotel and car is safe.

Yelp
I previously stayed at La Richelieu for one night back in July 2015 because it's the only hotel I could find in the French Quarter that offers self parking. I remember that I had a nice room with a small balcony and overall it was a good stay. Fast forward to 2016 and I just got back from a 3-night stay at Le Richelieu with my boyfriend. Initially they put us in a room with two double beds, but we were able to switch to a room with a queen bed instead. No balcony this time around though. Overall the staff was very pleasant and helpful. We accidentally left some clothes in the closet when we checked out and the housekeeper immediately called down to the front desk so that we were able to retrieve our things. We stored our bags with them for a couple hours so we could spend a bit more time strolling around the French Quarter before heading to the airport. I should also mention that the hotel has a very generous check-out time of 1pm. The hotel is in a great location because it's within walking distance to everything, but still far enough away to not be right in the middle of the craziness and quiet enough to get a good night's sleep. Frenchman St and Bourbon St are just blocks away. St Roch Market and the Central Business District/Arts District are farther away but still walkable. The only negative about the stay was that the bathroom was about 10 degrees colder than the rest of the room, and the hot water wasn't quite hot enough. Despite that, we still liked the hotel and I would stay again if I ever return to New Orleans.

Yelp
Location is excellent, rooms are fine. Would definitely consider staying here again, but might also look at other places in the nearby area. It's right on the edge of the French Quarter in a perfect location between Frenchmen Street, the French Market, and the main part of the Quarter. The streets in the immediate vicinity are quiet and seemed fairly well-lit; we had no problem walking around there at night. Definitely a better choice to stay here than in the Central Business District. The room, once we got the correct (wine-stained?) key, was...mostly fine. Definitely older, but with a decent amount of space. The bathroom's water pressure was pretty weak and the hot water seemed to take some time to build up. The bed was comfortable, but definitely on the older end with some sagging and there were very few outlets for electronics. AC didn't really seem to work, but this was in Winter so it was okay. You could hear some street noise at night, but not much. Seems like it could use a little bit of a makeover, but it got the job done fine. Staff was friendly, if not overly familiar. Free coffee in the morning if you're around at the right time. Price seemed fair, but then we saw they were running last-minute specials that discounted the room down $45 from what we paid. You may want to wait in the off-season and see if you can snag a $95-a-night room.

Yelp
Jennifer makes a mean hurricane with a killer floater, and if you hang out in the bar long enough you just might find yourself getting a list of restaurant recommendations from the lady friend of a gentleman who did federal time for running guns for Ollie North. Because this is New Orleans, darlin. And that's how we roll.

Yelp
We stayed here in October 2018. This is a good sized boutique hotel with 3 stories. It has a very nice courtyard with a modest but attractive salt water pool. It also has a small cafe open until 2:00PM and a bar. It has a big parking lot (fee) with electric gate. It is near the action of Bourbon and Decatur streets but far enough to be quiet at night. It is near the "edge" of the French Quarter which makes it easy to drive off to points outside of the Quarter such as the Garden district, City Park, or Plantations. Notably the checkout time is 1:00PM so you really have time to do something on your get-out-of-town day if you plan your flights accordingly. The staff was well-trained and friendly. Our one BR suite was spacious but pretty dated with older kitchen and bathroom fixtures. The bathroom was quite useable but there was some mold on the tub caulking. There was no coffee maker in the room and there was little control of temperature (just fan control of air conditioner). It was pretty quiet except for occasional mechanical noises emanating from somewhere in the building. We couldn't hear any other guests however. There was a view only of the parking lot and in fact the general area is a little on the seedy side. We felt pretty safe on the nearby streets but we were not out late. There are a lot of "characters " in the neighborhood. All in all we were quite happy with our choice and felt we were in a real old fashioned French Quarter hotel with a lot of atmosphere and charm versus one of the newer high rises that seem the same no matter what city you are in.

Yelp
5 stars for this brunch spot! We indulged in a 1p sunday brunch after my hair stylist suggested it. The parking is not ideal but the waiter told us it's safe to park on Elysian Fields without being ticketed. The hotel itself has an older, homey feel but the absolute BEsT omlettes and french toast. The grits were good also. Beverages of choice were screwdrivers which were made by their awesome wait staff. This place was a hidden gem but the word is spreading so plan on arriving early! Customers enjoy their french toast, crepes(hear their decadent), grits and omlettes with a pool view. The seating isn't very spacious but it has a very quaint feel and everyone in the hotel were very accommodating. We will be back next time for crepes!

Yelp
What an awesome historic and charming hotel in the heart of the French Quarter!! Very inviting, the entire staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. It had such a great vibe and loved being able to walk to Bourbon street a few blocks down. Rooms were very comfortable and loved having the secure parking right behind the hotel for a very good rate in this area. Will definitely be coming back since we didn't have a chance to use their on site restaurant and pool. Oh, the French Market was only two blocks away and loved hearing the live music right in our room!!

Yelp
A great place to stay in the French quarter. Relatively quiet, friendly staff and with in walking distance of everything. We stayed in a king sweet and it was very large with a full kitchen.

Yelp
We were planning a trip to New Orleans, and would be driving, so we were seeking a hotel in the French Quarter that would allow for overnight parking. This place met our needs. It is a beautiful old hotel, four stories, about 60 rooms or so, nice furnishings, marble columns and floors, and had a gated rather large parking lot in the rear. We checked in and received our "old fashion key" instead of the usual key cards now used in newer hotels. Their rule, you must return your key every time you leave the hotel and when you return, you can pick it back up! Very old school. Our room was spacious and nicely decorated, but the bathroom was very dated, baby blue tie, toilet and bathtub. It was big, but was so retro 50's. Overall, the place was quiet, two blocks from Bourbon street and had parking! We'd stay here again, for sure!

Yelp
My second visit was identical to the first, GREAT! The dining area only has five tables due to the patio's size but it's just right. Each table can accommodate up to four diners. The tables are white marble and wrought iron chairs and brick floor(keeping with the Vieux Carré ambiance). The view of swimming pool is a nice addition and the natural light from the sliding glass walls actually fill the dining area. The bar with its dim lighting, high chairs and black&white photos sandwich the dining area at the entrance.

Yelp
Stayed here for 2 nights, large parking lot, comfortable rooms, right in the French Quarter, walkable to all the sights, nice safe place, security guard all night at the front, good place to stay, outside heated pool, breakfast and bar downstairs. Would stay here again.

Yelp
When I return to French Quarter, this will be my target hotel. It's old, tired and full of charm. Great location with lots of great stuff nearby but it's quiet. Has a large secure parking lot, small pool, serves a nice breakfast and has an old bar. The staff is fantastic. Everyone loves Frank (owner) who is a lovely guy.
