I had high expectations when booking Le Royal Hotel Beirut, especially after paying $248 for one night, thinking we’d have a peaceful and luxurious stay after our wedding. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve ever had.
From 8:00 AM, we were woken up by constant banging and drilling coming from the room next door. It was clear that maintenance or construction work was being done right next to us—on a Sunday morning no less! We immediately called reception to complain, and while they stopped the noise temporarily, it resumed again an hour later, ruining any chance of rest.
I didn’t get to enjoy the stay, and definitely didn’t get the sleep I desperately needed. When we spoke with the manager, instead of offering a refund or something meaningful, they offered us to stay until 7 PM. That’s not helpful when I live in Beirut and don’t need a few extra hours—I needed a quiet, restful night, not a day extension in a room that had already been disturbed.
It’s unacceptable to charge premium prices and subject guests to construction noise without any prior warning. The staff’s response was lackluster and did not reflect the level of service expected from a so-called five-star hotel.
I do not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for peace, professionalism, or proper hospitality. If you care about your sleep, your comfort, or getting value for your money—look elsewhere.
