We loved Le Royal…. Went twice on our trip. Calamari with homemade tartar sauce was amazing. Filet with Au Poive and fries were fantastic. Fries were very very good. Excellent service by Axel. Beautiful ambience. Highly recommend. Make sure to make reservations.

Considerate and accommodating staff, very professional, but apparently confused orders of other tables near me. The escargot was very good, olive oil with pesto worked very well! I really enjoyed the French onion soup, it wasn’t too salty and didn’t have a burnt aftertaste that many I’ve tried have. The water recommended the veal which was very tender and savory with the sauce, more mushrooms would’ve been great since they were delicious, didn’t expect there to be rice as a side that came with the veal but it worked very well with each bite! I think needing to make reservations is appropriate so you can be seated quickly and enjoy the people watching, I give 4.4 stars and would come back!

We stumbled across this venue to have drinks initially and then decided to book for dinner the following night based on what we observed whilst enjoying our drinks. The food was absolutely incredible but what really stood out was how amazing the staff were despite being so busy. Lovely ambiance and beautiful old rustic french vibe inside. I ordered the 6 Snails of Burgundy to start, and it was my first time trying snails. They were absolutely delicious, the sauce made them soft, rich, and full of flavor. For my main, I had the pepper steak, which was probably the best steak I’ve ever eaten. It was incredibly tender, cooked just right, and the pepper sauce was a pleasant surprise: well-balanced and not overwhelming at all. The fries on the side were excellent. Overall, a truly memorable meal that exceeded my expectations.

Highly recommended for a great French cuisine and friendly service. Off the beaten path in a quaint location with locals around you. Had the best escargot and Steak Tartare ever. Wish I had more time to explore more of their menu! We didn’t have reservations but they accommodated us within a limited timeframe which we gladly accepted

Amazing food and service. Escargot was delicious (with very helpful instruction from the staff for someone who hasn't tried them), and the bread was fantastic. Duck and filet were both excellent. Good drink menu. Made a reservation online, and sat inside; very tight quarters, but the other guests were fun and friendly.

I wish I could give the service six stars because the people here are absolutely amazing. The poached egg with morel mushrooms in a creamy sauce was to die for. Axel, one of the bartenders, is one of the nicest guys I have ever met and works harder than any bartender I have ever seen. Everybody here is very friendly and outgoing. It's worth traveling for.

We happened to visit this restaurant after finding out that the place we had originally planned to go was closed. Our server was extremely kind, and the food was perfect. It was the best duck confit I’ve had in Paris. The sauce, with its hint of honey, paired beautifully with the dish. The baguette served as a starter was delicious, and both the escargot and the fish of the day were excellent as well. This is truly one of the best restaurants I’ve tried in Paris. If I come back to Paris, I will definitely visit here again.

We were running late and they were very accomodating and helped us by moving our reservation to a better time. Being a tourist in Paris means long walks or long rides. Once we got there, they received us with a smile and sat us down. Recomendations where on point and the food is incredible! We ordered French onion soup, escargot, calamari, foi gras, steak tartar, duck confit, wine and champagne. PLEASE DO NOT MISS OUT! EVERYTHING WAS EXTREMELY DELICIOUS! If could have kept eating we would have! Ambiance was great, decorations was sports oriented and the vibe was great! Thank you for great service and food. Quality for a great price!

I came into this restaurant and ordered a medium-rare rib-eye steak and was served one that's PARTLY UNCOOKED, of course I wasn't happy with it as I was already hungry so I requested to change to their duck meat BUT was rejected by their server, the server asked if I ordered medium-rare, they're trynna infer that I didn't know what I ordered, I even showed the server the part that's UNCOOKED, server couldn't even tell what's wrong with the steak LOL they then asked if they could re-cook it to which I responded NO I have no confidence in the chef to cook the steak that's why I requested to change to duck instead, they refused and EVEN ASKED what they do with the meat to which I said "it's the chef's responsibility, not mine" then the dude standing at the counter came we have the same convo again except this time he TOOK MY FOOD AWAY FROM ME with "I don't give a F*** attitude" nothing else was done and I HAD raise my hands and ask what's on next, the same server came in and we have the same convo again.. NONE of the employees working that day cares about customer service, that counter guy even had the cheek to make me pay full €32 for that BAD STEAK and snobbish french server attitude. Worst restaurant I've ever been to, yes WORST but you're welcome to test your luck :)

This one of our favorite little finds in Paris! The food was amazing, we both had a crepe. It felt like a place that locals loved, which was a big plus for us since 'touristy' areas don't always have the best quality. We also loved the neighborhood and enjoyed walking around after we ate. This was also where we found my boyfriend's favorite coffee of our whole trip!

Yummy! Our first dinner in Paris and it's one I won't forget. Quaint little restaurant on a quiet street. Stopped in with a party of four and got a bottle of wine to start us off. We each ordered our own French onion soup (still the best on my list) and shared beef tartare!

We just got coffee and a coke. My 23-year old daughter becomes this irate monster if you take her anywhere before she is caffeinated. Before we began our very long day of sightseeing I popped her in here to get an espresso. Super cute place and the service was fantastic. It seemed to be geared towards locals but was super tourist friendly. When I live in Paris, this will be my spot. They have a nice bar and the menu looked good. This was our last day in Paris or we would have had a longer review.

Le Royal is a small, neighborhood cafe. It is a delightful find, and 10 mins walk from Tour Eiffel. And far enough away to be called a local cafe. Would return for lunch or dinner Enjoyed a ham crepe, and a tasty petite steak (all steaks are petite in Paris) cooked perfectly as requested, medium rare. With carafe/pitcher of Beaujolais and complimentary bottle of water. 30€ including VAT and service charge. Our nil French and ordering in English was no problem. We were well served. Simply Great! Ate here multiple times during my short stay in Paris, the best food I had in the city

We just happened to pick this little Cafe out of pure dumb luck. The food and the service were excellent. The value, quality of service and the meal were some of the best we have had in Paris. This is a neighborhood cafe not a tourist stop, none the less the waiter did speak / understand minimal English. We went back tonight (Sunday and they were closed - bummer). We plan on going back before we leave Paris. The two of us got out for ~25 Euro this included wine!

Le Royal is a quaint little restaurant located between the Champ de Mars park and Rue Cler. Our first night in Paris we had scheduled an evening bike ride so we were dressed casually and needed to find a restaurant for dinner where jeans and sneakers were acceptable attire. Most of the restaurants near the Eiffel Tower were too fancy for our needs, but Le Royal looked casual and was nearby the Eiffel Tower. As others mentioned, the waiters don't speak much English, but the menu is written in English so ordering was not a problem and our waitress was friendly. The food was ok, nothing great and nothing terrible. The menu was a jumble of different cuisines and listed everything from classic French dishes, Italian pasta dishes, and American favorites like hot dogs. In my opinion this raises and red flag and leads me to believe this restaurant caters to tourists. I was tempted to leave after glancing at the menu, but our waitress took our order before we could change our minds. We ordered croque monsieur sandwiches, an assorted cheese platter, a bottle of cheap (but good) Burgundy wine, and the lemon tart and tiramisu for dessert. The prices weren't expensive, but at 60 euros for three people it wasn't cheap either when you consider that we ordered ham and cheese sandwiches and house wine. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. If I had to choose again I would have visited the Rue Cler street market instead and gathered the ingredients for a picnic to enjoy at the Champ de Mars park.

This was the first place we tried in Paris and it was fine. A small local place with a friendly waitress and decent food. I ordered the duck confit and he ordered a chicken dish during lunch time and it was ok. Good points were the friendly and smiley waitress and the free wi-fi (ask for the password).

Almost every other patron in the restaurant the night we were here was American, so make of that what you will. This is French homestyle comfort food, not grande cuisine, so be aware of that also. Prices are more affordable than most other restaurants in this area, & they have a good combo deal (appetizer + main dish + drink or dessert). We had the French Onion soup to start which was just perfect, with a thick flavorful broth and crusty croutons, I'd come back here just for the soup. The entrees were very simple and the duck confit was on the greasy side but the fried potatoes were very good. It hit the spot after a long rainy day of sightseeing, but I probably would choose a more gourmet option next time.

Stopped for a quick lunch. Was in the mood for something light, so had the goat cheese salad-greens, tomatoes, and two thin crust toasts with rings of creamy goat cheese. The kids split the ham and cheese crepe and the hubby had the Croque monsieur, both were served with salad. The service was friendly and helpful. Great prices and great eats!

WOW this was the PERFECT lunch spot for my friend and I after walking around the Eiffel Tower for the morning. Most of the restaurant we saw around here were out of our budget, and Le Royal popped out as something we could fit in our budget. The prices are totally reasonable, and this was actually some of the best food I had while in Paris! My friend got their lunch special which included soup, a main dish, and a glass of wine for less than 15 euro-amazing! I really wanted to have duck while in Paris, and this place did NOT disappoint. Our waitress was also incredible-she was very patient with us (& our lack of conversational French). I will definitely be back the next time I'm in Paris.

The 4 of us interrupted the wait staff eating lunch and they assured us it was no problem. They served us breakfast when most cafes had stopped serving breakfast food. It was a little over 30 euro for the four of us with juice, coffee, omelette, croissant, etc.

Friendly service and close to the Eiffel Tower. I had the croque madam with coffee and it was pretty good. I thought the coffee could have been better but it still hit the spot.

This place is fantastic! My last meal in Paris and it's been the best yet. Great staff, very friendly and patient with those who know no French. If your in Paris check them out!

My companion and I were excited to dine at Le Royal after climbing the Eiffel Tower. We dined on a Tuesday night at 2030, and the restaurant was half full. The lady who served us was incredibly sweet. My companion and I both ordered the onion soup, which we both found bland. I ordered escargot, which was delicious, and my companion ordered the duck, which tasted okay. However, he would later develop food poisoning, and we can only assume it would be from this dish since it was the only dish he ate that I did not try. Had it not been for my companion's food poisoning experience, I would've rated this restaurant four stars.

Le Royal was such a lovely surprise to discover while walking near the Eiffel Tower. The staff were friendly and helpful with ordering, and the food was wonderful and at a great price. We got the 3 course meal which included a light and flavorful appetizer, a delicious main dish and divine desserts. We wish we would've claimed our first choice of dessert right away, as they flew off the counter, but we will keep that in mind when we return again to this delightful cafe.

Im giving this 3.5 stars. Came here starving and got some chicken dish. It was quite dry which Im kind of usually fine with. The waitress was super nice and they have wifi. I overall liked the vibe here but I wouldnt really need to come back to eat here.

Enjoyed this very quaint and very small cafe. Restaurant is clean and the staff is very friendly. I enjoyed people watching from the refined Grandmother, to the young professionals in suits, to a group of middle age girlfriends, and the construction workers that came in for espresso. The food is excellent for the price. Only one very slight issue, no glass of Champagne. Oh well, the red wine in a craft fit the bill instead.

My wife and I went here with our 2 daughters (10 & 12). They loved the Parisian Hot Dog (on a baguette with melted cheese). My wife had the Chicken with Normanide Sauce. All was excellent. Nice mix of French and "regular food." Nice atmosphere. Great service. Felt like a local. Far enough away from the Eiffel Tower so it is not a tourist trap but close enough to walk. If I lived in Paris I would eat here once a week. Great bakery across the Rue too.

Very good food and good service at a very reasonable price. This is a quiet little neighborhood cafe/bar near Rue Cler. The food tasted freshly prepared and seemed like local comfort food. The waiter spoke enough English to help us order with our limited French. Three of us ordered off of the daily menu so we each got an entree, a main course, a dessert and a beverage at around 13 euros each. Two of us got the baked chicken (moist and tender) and I got the pork roast which was also very tasty. The desserts of tiramisu and chocolate mousse were not fancy but tasted delicious.

I have eaten several times at Le Royal for breakfast and it's always been terrific. Usually get the baguette and croissant with coffee and orange juice. Owners and waiters have always been very friendly. The location is a just a few minutes walk to the Eiffel Tower, yet it's not touristy. First saw Le Royal on Anthony Bourdain, and like the rest of his Paris suggestions, it was just right. Will definitely go back, and would like to try it for lunch or dinner.

Just steps away from our hotel, this was the first restaurant we stumbled across as we valiantly attempted to stay awake the rest of the day after an overnight flight from California. I am blessing our incredible luck even today! The proprietor and his son (or grandson?) made us feel so welcome, and fed us the most amazing meal. We were starved and bleary-eyed, and they made us feel like family, seating us in a cozy corner by the window and attending to us sweetly, and in English (our French was so obviously poor, sigh). I had the duck, and it was, for lack of a better word, divine! I almost never eat my whole lunch, but I couldn't bear to leave any of that tender, perfectly cooked duck breast on my plate. My husband had the blue cheese penne pasta, which he also praised as "absolutely delish!" My sides of potatoes and a salad perfectly complemented the duck, and with a little baguette, made our meal complete. Overall, reasonably priced, delicious, and among the most welcoming places I have ever visited for a meal. Highly recommended -- I'd move in permanently if they'd have me!

For a place that serves up a 3 course meal for 14 euros including a drink/house wine it is a great deal in this expensive city. We dropped in around 930 pm for dinner and they were out of most specials except for a turkey or steak frites. I think the ones that they ran out of it looked more interesting so it was unfortunate that we couldn't try those. We both ordered the steak frites. The starters were a salad with a side of country pate. The salad was lightly dressed and the country pate tasted good. The bread we got was a bit stale but we ate it. I had the house wine and he gave me a small carafe of it. It was a very cold red house wine that was on the sweeter side. Nothing horrible as it quenched my thirst and it was included so I can't complain. The steak was on the tougher side and wasn't seasoned with anything so I had to add salt - something I never do in a restaurant. Fries were crispy. Dessert was creme Carmel for me and it was a nice classic dish. Overall price to food it was average and fine if you aren't picky. Service was fine and they spoke enough English to help. Clientele was a mix of locals and tourists. Seating is very intimate. Your next dining table feels like they are your actual dining partners. Probably a good place for breakfast or lunch.

This was a last second yelp find, wandering around the Eiffel Tower at night. The meal was not only the worst we've had in Paris, but the worst meal my wife and I have had in Europe the last 10 days. The minced beef tasted old and grossly undercooked. My wife's sausage smelt like a meat market and was not bearable. The server was very sweet, and her service was great, but the food was rough.

Arrived an hour before closing, worried I wouldn't get the best service as I would at regular afternoon dinner hours. It was empty when I went, yet was welcomed very warmly. Also our food was cooked beautifully and was delicious. Friendly staff. Good deal, it's very much worth the price (the 3 course meal for €13.90 with included drink) and I would love to visit them again. I left completely satisfied :)

Very unfortunate based on the past reviews. Steak could not be eaten. Had a strange aftertaste. Fries and water were the only winners. Do yourself a favor a find one of many eateries next door.

Thank you for the suggestion Monsieur Bordain! We saw this restaurant on a list from No Reservations and the food was GREAT! I wish i made this review closer to when I had dined there but I can remember i had great food and my French Onion Soup was AMAZING. They had free Wifi and they were a nice walking distance from the Eiffel Tower. I didn't like how there were tons of flies on the walls, but they didn't go to our food and the servers were great! I would love to go back again if we ever go back to Paris.

Very nice neighborhood restaurant. Very good food with very fair pricing. Plats du hour with wine and entree for 12.90 euros. Wine is a small carafe the owner/ manager is nice and accommodating thus is your basic clean well lighted place. Voila. B

Le Royal is a very small restaurant with a tight seating arrangement. Service was very neutral and unfortunately when I arrived (about 9:00pm) they ran out of many of the specials. Table wine was the usual and served very cold. As a main I ordered the steak frites. A tough piece of meat to say the least. I think there are many other options in this fine area.

Been here 3 times and enjoyed all three meals. For the price you really cant go wrong. As others have said they have a dinner special - 3 courses for about 12 euro. Very small and intimate but great food and service. Was not disappointed and would recommend to others on a budget!

Great little resto in a great location. We had breakfast here twice and stopped in for coffee on another location. The food is great, service is excellent and the price is very reasonable. I would definitely recommend for breakfast or lunch!

Superb value at 14 euro for a three course meal with beverage. Clean, quaint cafe/restaurant. This isn't haute-cuisine, but everything was tasty and the staff are genuinely friendly and nice. They speak enough English to help you navigate the menu and set menu for the day which includes several choices each for starter, main dish and dessert. Also the "formule" includes your choice of wine, beer, soda, hot drink. Also they bring tapwater to the table without being asked, which is fantastic as well. We ate here twice during our stay and we'll definitely eat here again the next time we're in Paris.

Friendly, smiling service in a charming atmosphere. The food is a bit lacking (onion soup with a tomato broth?) but not bad considering the prices. Happy to come here for a quick lunch, but if you're a tourist looking for something to write home about, you can likely do better.

They have an awesome lunch special with 2 courses for around 13€ a person, including a drink! Great food, great prices, and really nice service (our waitress was so attentive and cheerful even though my French is terrible!). Will be going there again before we go back home.

Ugh. I felt like my ham and cheese sandwich was served on wonder bread. My partner had a semi decent cheese platter but it wasn't anything special (especially in Paris). The service was lacking and the baguette was very dry, almost crouton status. I will give them credit for their low prices but we were severely disappointed wasting a meal here.

The worse place to eat ! Don't waste your time, money and appetite to go to this bistro . We were waiting for our food For about 40 minutes ,everything was served at different times to each person . They totally forgot my nieces food and served her last. Their onion soup was cold ,duck was cold as well and dry. I would have rather stayed hungry then eaten at this place .

Lovely restaurant, great food and wine. I had the steak, asked it to be medium/rare, although I think their cooking classes are different to UK as it was very rare, my girlfriend has the duck and loved it, but again asked for medium and it was still quacking! I was really ill later that night which could have been due to the really rare steak, but apart from the sickness it was good

The food was amazing. What l got was the Roast Chicken. AMAZING!!!! Also the skirt steak, and Salmon with noodles! YUM

Ambiance was nice, but they have clearly downgraded their quality for all the American tourists who don't know the difference. Food in Paris is usually beautifully prepared and top quality, but not so here. The roasted chicken was dry and flavorless, while the green beans were over cooked to mush. Very disappointing.

The food was excellent, we he the ham and cheese sandwich. Tarte du jour for dessert was splendid. Kinda cramped space outside, but it gives you French vibes, and I loved it.

We ate here tonight after a week in Paris. Our regret is that we did not find it sooner. Service and food were outstanding and prices were very reasonable. We each had an appetizer, steak, dessert and a drink for under 13 euros per person.

This place is a great value for dinner, at 14 E for three courses and a beverage--starter, main course, and dessert, and beer or wine or soda or mineral water. We went there twice in four nights. The food was delicious, and the waitstaff is very nice. Some speak English well, some less so. But you can't beat the price in the neighborhood, as far as we saw.

Awesome value and very good food. Excellent onion soup, Carmel custard and chocolate moose were spectacular. Waitress was awesome...sweet...attentive...Sylvain? Would go back!!! 3 courses with bread and wine in Paris for 13.9 euros. Too good to be true, but it is!!!

A great find. Went there for the apple tart and stayed for dinner. The pork filet, duck, and steak were great. The escargot was just outstanding. All locals in the place.

This was probably my best dinner the entire month that I was in Europe. I got the 13 euro menu which was an amazing price for Paris, and had the specials of the day: mozzarella and tomatoes, rabbit cooked in mustard sauce and chocolate mousse. It was soooooo so so good and our waiter was really kind and helpful. Highly recommend!

Fantastic little cafe/bar. The service is amazing and the food is incredible. Very friendly, even to non-french speakers. I would recommend this place to anyone. Food is incredibly memorable and the prices are fantastic.
