The reception mistakenly sent other guests into my room while I was in the room already. And the door doesn't have a mechanical lock anyway; you can't prevent people from entering the room. The invasion of my privacy felt consequential. I could have been asleep, or in the shower, or in the toilet; this all would have been terrible. And I could have been absent in that moment, and the guests entering my room would have been able to take my backpack, my computer, my wallet, my documents. The person at the reception "offered me a glass of champagne" as compensation for his mistake and my discomfiture. The mistake itself strikes me as rather serious. The response from the reception strikes me as rather unserious.
