Yelp
Recommended by hotel people because of gluten free menu for me. A pleasant 1 mile walk from the Starhotel Rosa Grand, Milan. We went for lunch and had about the best food EVER, anywhere.
I had GF pasta with anchovies and fresh tomato. SO good! But so rich (olive oil, cheese??) I could not finish it. Very freshly made. My wife had veggie soup. Ordinary, right? Extraordinary in this restaurant. Obviously freshly made for her and not soggy from sitting in a hot pot. I saw fresh chestnuts as we entered the restaurant. I've loved them all my life, but sometimes they are not easy to find in the States. We had them for "dessert." Freshly roasted for us.
Management gave us (no charge) homemade breads (fantastic GF for me) and biscotti (again, even GF for me) at end of meal.
Yes, for fairly little food ordered (1 soup, 1 pasta, 1 bottled water, 1 hot tea, chestnuts) our meal was expensive (around $70 USD), but we enjoyed it so much and ALL the people were so wonderful. We WILL return. They have several branzini dishes calling to me.
Service and people were simply wonderful. I cannot say enough good about them.

Two days later, after a disappointing meal at a different restaurant, my wife and I returned. I HAD to return before leaving Milano!
This time a ordered branzini al forno with olives, capers, potatoes and tomatoes. Again, YES the food here is not inexpensive. My fish cost €28. But I was served a large portion of branzini filet. My wife ordered chicken filet and was rewarded with also a large portion and a salad. The food was OBVIOUSLY freshly prepared and was delicious.
Again, service at all levels was exceptional!
When you sit, you are brought these awesome, huge, delicious olives as an appetizer plus fresh bread (even gluten free bread for me). This is all included in the "cover charge" ubiquitous to at least Milano. After dinner, you are brought wonderful almond biscotti that would compete with my mother's Mandel bread and maybe ice cream filled chocolate bon bond.
NOTE: unlike other restaurants that buy bread and desserts, Le Specialità makes their own including gluten free bread and the ice cream bon bons.
If I am ever back in Milano, this is where I am eating!
