"At lunch the next day, I ate what felt like the platonic ideal of the island's ubiquitous seafood platter at a homey little restaurant called Le Tout du Cru ('Everything Raw'), tucked into a photogenic alleyway dominated by a shuttered old cinema." - Travel + Leisure Editors

A superb sea-food restaurant, everything fresh and well prepared. Friendly atmosphere, with big capes if you want to make a mess eating! Very good wine-list and enjoyable music too. Just off the main port quai, worth seeking out.

3 of us have eaten a dinner there on 27.08.2024 and it was great: very kind service, brilliant and fresh food, nicely prepared, good beer and wine, friendly atmosphere, nicely decorated space

This must be a tourist trap, at best. 1.5hr wait for food - ok, it was a Friday night in September, so maybe they’re busy (they didn’t seem that busy) - but it was only some prawns and some smoked salmon. What was really disappointing was the cleanliness, and, if you’re waiting that long for your food, you have a lot of spare time to look around. Yes, those are actually dead flies on the walls and ceiling, that must have been there for months if not years. Why don’t you clean them off? There are better restaurants on the Ile de Re to spend 120EUR in.

Located at the heart of the village, this place for sure has the air and charm of a typical post-war bistrot, nice for the touristic experience. However, food is good but average. They have a great cava if you are into wine. Make a reservation ahead!

The best part of our meal was the staff (A+) but unfortunately we don’t go out to eat for the staff. I feel a bit crazy writing this review as it boasts so many impressive ones. Was I the one-in-a-million that had such an “off” night compared to others? We were given an “apéritif” which was a nice gesture although flavorless & hard. Then our wines were poured into miniature glasses (the glasses and carafe were dirty). I was quite disillusioned. We ordered a crab (29€), crevettes/shrimp (19€) a fish soup (14€) and a “riz au lait”. I worship crab but this was so dry & tasteless. I relied on the jar mayonnaise I was given to allow me to coat my throat to swallow the crab which should never be the case. The (7) small shrimps (19€) tasted like it was frozen cocktail shrimp like what you eat at a corporate event/hotel lunch buffet. Back to the mayonnaise, we got one small container to share for both dishes so unfortunately it ran out. I won’t even continue with the rest of the meal, it was all notably/impressively bad. I hope for the sake of others that we just had an unlucky off night.

Amazing fresh seafood away from the tourists. We had the today's special oysters and they were exquisitely plump and juicy. The seafood platter was also very fresh and great value for the amount. Can't think of anything to write negatively about. The service was also very friendly and accommodating despite the restaurant being full. Would definitely recommend!

Sitting down in this wonderfully decorated restaurant, gives you the opportunity to seize a timeless moment of Île de ré island life and enjoy the best sea food (and bread and butter) there is.

If you like old french songs and atmosphere (50'-70') that's the place to go. On the other hand if you feel uncomfortable with oysters and seashell, positively reconsider. Sea food here is extremely fresh. You can get any fresher only at prod site 😋
