Le Trumilou

Our first food stop on our month-long Europe trip didn’t disappoint! Even with a bit of a language barrier, our servers went out of their way to make the experience wonderful. I had the steak frites and my fiancé ordered the duck, both were delicious. We especially loved trying escargot for the very first time and a delicious wine pairing with our meal! We sat on the romantic patio taking in all the views on our single day in Paris!

Le Trumilou was a superb dinner experience for my family. The service was superb and friendly. The waiters even responded to my young son's usual request of honey, to be served with his bread. The food was amazing. We had the escargot, the prime rib for two, as well as the Veal. Everything was richly delicious. The highlight was the unexpected experience of two older gentlemen diners who upon learning we were tourists, visiting Paris, shared their wine with us. Also, the location was very well appointed by the river, with Notre Dame nearby. Highly recommend.

It was my first dinner in Paris, and I absolutely loved it. The service was excellent — attentive, warm, and very professional. The place feels truly French, with a cozy, authentic atmosphere that really lets you soak in the Parisian vibe. Everything was great. We tried the French onion soup, escargots, and everything was delicious. I would happily come back again and definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a genuinely French experience.

Visited with my sister while on vacation and we had an enjoyable and delicious lunch! Started with the escargot which was so delicious we had to get another serving, and the foie gras which was smooth as silk and tastes amazing. Main was the beef ribs perfectly seasoned and done, which came with a mountain of fries. The sauce paired perfectly with the meat. I really appreciated that we could order dessert as well, as it was past the restaurant's closing time by this point, so many thanks to our server whom I unfortunately did not manage to get his name. The meal finished strong with a helping of ice cream and egg white snow which was a perfect finish to a wonderful meal. Many many thanks to the restaurant and staff and I would definitely want to dine here again if I get the chance in the future! With love from Singapore!

It’s a lovely traditional French restaurant. We were happy to dine here and tried their famous escargots and duck stew with plums. My friends had the fish of the day (turbot) and the beef tartare. We all enjoyed our meals, and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Lovely evening. Waiter was prompt and spoke good English. The steak was wonderful and fulfilling, but I had to get the Suicide Cake. Also really good

A lovely French dinning experience! Service was friendly and accommodating as we do not speak French. Made a reservation for 7:45 on a Thursday during Christmas week and it was empty but by 8:30 it was packed. Food was traditional and executed well. Love the set menu option as well as affordable wine. Will definitely recommend! Must order the snails and profiteroles for dessert.

We went for lunch and had beef tartar and lunch menu. Both was amazing! Also place is cute, well located, good atmosphere! Really good value provided compared to other places!

We were the second group of diners at 7:15 on Friday (they open at 7:00). I started with a glass of house rosé (middling taste, but super cheap). We got two entrees (pork with brown sauce with fries and salad) and a duck braised with plums. The meats in both our entrees were somewhat overcooked making for lots of chewing. Flavors were good and well balanced but the non ideal texture of the proteins made it a 3 star experience. We also got a creme brulee to finish, which was tasty but mild flavored, not super creamy or rich. Total bill was 66 euro. No complaints, but not spectacular either.

I've been walking past Le Trumilou for years and had mentally bookmarked it as a spot to go with friends for traditional rustic French fare. Stopped by late last month with a party of six and had fantastic service and wonderful traditional food, just as expected.

Food was good. Service was tremendous full of personality! We had onion soup and fish.

Came here to experience traditional French dishes as a tourist in Paris! Got the escargot, beef tartare, foie gras salad, fish of the day, salmon carpaccio salad, and my favorite, roasted duck. Oh my, I have never craved duck until I came here. It was nice that they had an English menu, definitely use their QR code to get that as the waitresses and waiters did not speak English. But that's when you know, you are about to experience great French cuisine. The restaurant gets very loud specially during dinner. The only down side was the very slow customer service.

i liked my beef tartare but I did request dijon mustard to spice it up a bit more. Husband tried the 2 course dinner with pate and a cold salad which was refreshing on a very hot night. Indoor and outdoor dining available and make a reservation as there are many tourists around. The beef rib on a hot plate shared by 2 was beautiful but the beef was very tough. The roasted garlic and mushroom stood out more. Staff was nice and you get a traditional bistro ambience with the old school decor which was lovely.

Very cute little French brasserie! Old school hinter's lounge decor and the old couple servers were fun. Not fine dining service. But family style. If it's group, food be served family style on big platters. Tasty lamb, escargots, duck breasts were tender juicy and huge in portion. We went on a national holiday and the jacked up price was still lower than what you would have spent in a mediocre French restaurant in USA. Tiny & cozy space though. Near Notre Dame & metro. The French fries! Heavenly.

Ordered brains, escalope de veau, and île flottante. The food took about 30 minutes to arrive. Escalope was very good: sauce was delicious and came with ample french fries for dipping. Brains didn't excite either of us. It had a strange texture and flavor and the potatoes it came with were just average. Île flottante was very good- hit the spot for both of us. French desserts really are just so good. Unfortunately, the service remained painfully slow throughout the rest of the meal.

Simple, traditional, delicious classics in setting which is warm, friendly, and unpretentious. Would eagerly return!

Excellent taste à la parisienne. This is what the locals eat traditionally. The menu offers plats du jour where an entrée+plat or plat+dessert à 16,50 € only. It's a really great deal!! I had the veal in an onion and mushroom sauce with fries mixed into it. The recommended wine matched the entrée really well, making the whole meal almost perfect!!! Ah!!!

Another great dinner in Paris. What can I say, it's hard to go wrong with food in this city. One of the larger restaurants in the area in terms of floor size and with some really fun French-country themed decor. Our food came with potatoes that ended up just getting liberally soaked with the various meat sauces and the dessert was fabulous.

This is one of our favorite restaurants in all of Paris. Quaint and humble. Like having dinner in someone's home. We visit for the wine, escargot and duck in prune sauce. The flavor is like no other. We visited first in 2013 on a recommendation and we're sure to visit and again in 2017 (twice) Le Trumilou offers a simple yet elegant dining experience. Reservations are recommended.

Le Trumilou is homely, welcoming, simple, and so very charming. The menus/formules also make it very affordable. Artichoke entrée comes with a vinaigrette that I would buy a whole truckload of if I could. It's not meant (I think?) to be a dip for the restaurant's fantastic bread, but nobody will blame you if you disagree because the combination is great. The grillade de porc is juicy, tender, delicious. The duck is great. It's also impossible to finish and on top of that, it comes with humongous potato sides which are dangerous in the sense that they are way too addictive. As for dessert you want the crème caramel, a well-executed classic. Light-hearted, attentive, friendly, and overall immaculate service. If you're a songwriter you should come to Le Trumilou, enjoy dinner here, and then write a song about it.

Classic French experience. Ordered escargot, lamb, and the duck in prunes, and an île flottante. The escargot were well balanced, the lamb savory and delicious, and the duck was well prepared. The sauce was a tad sweet but that's the nature of prunes. Excellent service.

This is an excellent location for experiencing classic, simple French cooking. Portions are extremely generous and the prices are more than reasonable. The atmosphere and staff are also fantastic. The casual decor and convivial atmosphere turn great food into a memorable experience.

This place was recommended by a tour guide, but I had a less than great experience. Maybe I caught them at a bad time, don't know. This was around 1pm. The fish I ordered was overcooked and tasteless. The rabbit was dry and not very good Everything tasted old and not freshly made. The wine was great. They also forgot our coffee (which was the only ok thing). Their creme caramel was decent, but nothing special. Their crepes Suzanne was not good. Our server was hard to flag down, and the woman (who seemed like the maitre du) was too busy fiddling with her laptop to pay attention to us. All in all, not a good experience.

Service was great and so was the food. We felt welcome like family. Very affordable for quality and portions.

This spot is reasonably priced, if you can believe it, yet it creates the most remarkable food. The dinner I had there was the highlight of my trip, with the best oeufs en meurette I have ever had - rich, but not so much so that I couldn't finish (and by finish, I mean eat the entire thing and scrape up any remaining bits with bread!). Simple, classic, unpretentious, and truly French cuisine. Make a reservation.

This place was the absolute highlight of my recent long weekend in Paris: a Lonely Planet recommendation led our way to this lovely, cosy restaurant opposite of Ile Saint Louis, a short walk from the town hall. Very friendly staff, a solid menu with fair prices. Even though we are a mostly vegetarian couple: this one time it had to be meat, and we went for lamb with garlic potatoes (very very good, indeed!) and the most divine duck I ever tried: prepared in a rich, heart-warming sauce of plums in a steaming oven bowl, French Fries came as a side. For 20 Euro an excellent value considering the big portion. Highly recommending this place!

We asked a local person for a restaurant recommendation for good French food and he told us to go to Le Trumilou, a traditional Parisian restaurant in the Marais neghborhood. Appetizers we ordered were the avocado mousse with feta, eggplant appetizer, and escargot. I order the filet de colin creme de gingembre - white fish in ginger cream, with zuchini, carrot, and roasted potatoes. My husband ordered the Mignon de porc a la moutarde - pork in a mustard sauce. Our daughter ordered the Filet de boeufe grille - grilled beef steak with chips. For dessert, we get the arte au Pommes a l'ancienne - apple tart. All the food was delicious. Alan was our server and the service was excellent!

Twenty three years later and Le Trumilou still delivers on the French promise of a lovely dinner that won't kill your (modest) budget. Came here first in 1992 on a Let's Go recommendation and had a most memorable experience with my petit ami. Very good French cooking on a budget. Showed up again tonight, more than two decades later, with the same woman (now my wife) plus our 15-year-old son. For 104 European, we had a wonderful meal, wine and an experience we won't soon forget. Straightforward and quality food. Sure, you could get more high brow and spend more. But for the Euro, this place is a good value. He to make it back before another 23 years.

Great owner, amazing tartare. You get in there and there is no music, just straight up French bistro. We had delicious wine, the best tartare I've ever had which my husband had their speciality duck and prunes, soooo good. We sat at a communal table with great conversation. We would definitely come back.

At any given time, this restaurant has, per capita, the largest number of historians of mathematics of any restaurant in Paris. Also, the food and service are quite reasonable for a restaurant located in this spot.

This restaurant blew me away. I've tried the duck confit, beef tongue, duck filet, framboisier, lemon tart, and creme brulee and they were all amazing. The duck confit was my favorite. The staff are nice and friendly. I would definitely go back!

Great place to eat for children in Paris. About a 1 - 1.5 hour dinner.
