Amazing place, has history, was renovated and just reopened. Hosts were really nice and accommodating. The city of Amboise is marvelous, in the Loire valley. he Chateau and Le Clos Lucé were nice to visit. I also had one of the best couscous at a restaurant nearby (who would have thought?)

An absolute treat! Gloria is a gracious and considerate hostess in every way, from ensuring that our stay was perfect - even recommending and making dinner reservations. Katherina, too, was so kind and attentive. I would recommend Le Vieux Manoir without hesitation. Lovely courtyard and garden, lovingly furnished and maintained, and a hearty, delicious breakfast in the sunroom. For us, a once in a lifetime experience. Merci!

We stayed there in June with our adult son and were in the suite, so our rooms were on the same floor together. The accommodations and breakfast were lovely. We enjoyed Gloria’s help with dinner reservations and her erudite knowledge of all the history of the area. Ir was a great four night stay!

This place is closing and that is a good thing. Gloria is old and ill and has a husband with dementia, and it’s clear that these burdens are too much for her. She was rude to my husband, charming one moment but abrasive the next. She did not make me feel like a welcome guest, she was focused on her own needs, not ours.

This is as good as it gets. Outstanding attention to detail. Wonderful breakfasts, spacious comfortable rooms. Beautiful gardens, very helpful and knowledgable owners, located in the heart of Ambois, within walking distance of everything worth seeing. Reasonably priced, a great value.

It has taken me a while to write this review because it was such a horrible experience. Gloria, the owner, was terrible. She was incredibly rude and talked down to us the entire time. The day we arrived, Gloria was not ready for us. She answered the door half dressed and asked my mom to help her get to the bathroom. The house smelled of cat urine, and there was cat poop all over the patio (this is where breakfast is served). It was disgusting. We had to stay in a room that we did not reserve. There was spoiled milk and butter in the refrigerator. When we asked about the included breakfast, she had us get our own items out of her personal refrigerator. Gloria bossed us around; she demanded that we sat and listened to her lectures. She made my dad feed her cat before she gave us the internet info. The day that we left, she refused to help us get a taxi to go to the train station. The whole experience was awful and it ruined our time in Amboise.

Wonderful! We feel more than at Home. Everything look brand new and waiting to receive us. Glória is the perfect host. I would love to find more places like this in France.

Yelp
This was our first time visiting this region and looking for something different, I stumbled onto this incredible Bed & Breakfast. Run by Americans, Gloria & Bob Belknap, this 18th century mansion has been meticulously decorated & maintained. Everything from the grounds to the rooms are beautiful. We were fortunate to stay in 2 different rooms, the George Sand & Madam de Lafayette. Both rooms, were unique and beautiful with gorgeous antiques. I only have a few pics and they don't do this place justice. Go to the website, their pics depict the place much better. Upon check-in, Gloria takes the time to sit down and get to know you. And then, she makes FANTASTIC recommendations of what to see & eat. She DID NOT lead us in the wrong direction. In fact, her dinner recommendation is still hands down my favorite meal over the years in France (she even called the proprietor for us to make the reservations). But it doesn't end there! Gloria graduated from La Varenne cooking school in Paris, so you can imagine how wonderful breakfast was every morning. Breakfast is held in the back of the mansion in the Conservatory, overlooking the backyard garden. Even my husband still thinks about those breakfast meals. The only negative I had with this place, was it was so beautiful that I worried about breaking things. Haha! We'd love to go back!

Yelp
You will not be disappointed in any way. Owner is an American woman of means and has created a welcoming, classical environment. Every comfort, excellence in design and culinary execution. Warm without being overbearing. We were given an excellent recommendation for local dining and tourism, as well. If I am ever returning to this area, I will be certain to call again.

Yelp
We recently had the pleasure of staying at Le Vieux Manoir in Amboise in the Loire Valley. We have travelled in France for over 20 years and this was clearly one of our most wonderful experiences. Gloria and Bob, the proprietors, graciously welcomed us into their exquisitely decorated home. They provided us with "spot on" recommendations regarding sight seeing and dining tailored to our interests. Gloria is extremely knowledgable about all the chateaux in the region and spent a great deal of time helping us plan each day. Breakfast is a beautiful and delicious affair in their charming conservatory. I should also add that our rooms were very comfortable, well appointed and spotless! If you are visiting the Loire Valley, don't miss this experience!
