One of the Most Charming New Wine Bars in Paris Is Also a Hotel

"Opened in November 2021 as the sixth Orso Hotels property, Le Wallace Hôtel & Bar occupies a once-derelict building—fondly nicknamed the “Wallace Palace” during its overhaul—and has been transformed by multiple Paris-based design firms (with additional floors by architect Silvio d'Ascia) into a charming 45-room hotel in the 15th arrondissement. During a rainy winter weekend visit I found the Hauvette & Madani–designed guest rooms, inspired by the lush 1970s Italian Riviera, use jewel tones, terrazzo-floored bathrooms, heavy textiles and lacquered wood, and range from cozy singles to large balcony suites, many with Eiffel Tower views; the hotel is about a 20-minute walk from the tower. The tippy-top 750-square-foot third-floor terrace is planted and cushioned and even includes a sauna and a Scandinavian-style cold plunge. The true centerpiece is a small, plant-filled central patio and adjacent atrium wine bar beneath a skylight, which becomes the social hub for breakfast croissants or Negroni nightcaps; the Riviera-influenced menu—sourced from nearby Italian purveyors and developed with culinary incubator Fulgurances—draws locals for aperitivo hour with fritti, mortadella, and a tight list of Italian wines." - Hannah Walhout Hannah Walhout Hannah Walhout is a senior editor at Travel + Leisure, where she edits the Discoveries section of the print magazine and develops longer stories focusing on food, wine, and spirits. Friendly and helpful staff. However, the rooms were not so nice if comparing the pictures when booking. The rooms were incredibly small, basically only space enough for the bed and the huge AC (that did not even work). The rooms also had no windows, except for 1 small leading right out to the corridor. This made the humidity in the room almost unbearable since the AC wasn't working either. After showering their could still be fog in the room the entire day. This created a very weird odor almost as if you could smell the water damage somewhere. Breakfast was "OK", small selection of items, nothing homemade but you can find good bakeries in the area for that. Lastly, they took a 150 euro "deposit" of some kind that they told us was for city tax, which is fine, but the city tax was only about 70 euros and the rest they withdraw "in case we wanted to purchase anything from the bar". The rest of the 150 euros was told we would get back but there is no trace of that except for a receipt. I hope its only delayed because of the overseas transaction and not a scam. 3/5 because it is a pretty cheap hotel, otherwise 2/5. I do not recommend.

We had a great experience with our family of 4 at Hotel Wallace. We had a family suite (one door that opened to 2 separate rooms; each of the rooms also had a door requiring a hotel key.) The staff was very nice and the rooftop has a view of the top of the Eiffel Tower. There was a great pastry shop seconds away, and a small grocery store around the corner. It was a very easy walk to multiple metro stations. The location was a little far from most of the sites we went to, but it worked fine for us (we chose this location as it was a Hyatt when we booked, and we used points. It has since changed and is no longer in the Hyatt family.) Note: They do not provide conditioner, so be sure to bring your own.

This hotel was very clean and nice. The location was excellent and the staff was very friendly, we traveled from the US and can speak spanish, and english fluently, but only a little bit of French. Staff made us feel welcome and at home. This time my wife and I traveled without our children and stayed at the hotel 7 nights. The hotel is close to metro stations, grocery stores, a place to wash clothes, and lots of restaurants. Within just a few minutes you can walk to a beautiful location to see the Eiffel tower in all its glory. We felt very safe walking in the neighborhood. Definitely a lovely experience in Paris. We did get the smaller room (15 m^2), and it was a bit tight for two people, if I could come back, I would book the larger room, but that’s not the hotel’s fault, it’s just recommendation.

We booked the Wallace hotel under our Marriott account. We presumed it was under Marriott and the the standards would be met. When we arrived we were shocked to see the garbage at the pavement, the dirty pathway to the entrance, an unsafe area to unload, that is not what we were looking forward in Paris. We found small rooms, ok its Paris. But we could see the walls all painted thickly in white, the smell of wood and mould in the room and hallways permeating throughout. There is cold chill draft throughout. There mini-fridges cabinet is an empty box, tiny handbasin and moldy shower that leaks out to the floor. We found out that they just joined Marriott. The Orso brand is far below Marriott hotels standard. There should be truth in advertising. This illusion had created problem for us. Then TV did not work correctly and could not be fixed. No Youtube, only French speaking stations. Their curtains are just a thin material that you could hardly call curtains, no block out. Breakfast is in the basement, we passed on that. We did not feel truth and the Marriott standards were not met. This motel unbelievably charges € 365- €400. We had a pre-pay reservation, we were stuck and extremely unhappy. Maybe the problems experienced will show the management that they need to improve to be at Marriott standards. Meanwhile it may be best at this time to Avoid & Save yourself the GRIEF.

Google
this is a small hotel, wit small (very) rooms, with a small "restaurant" (only some cold cuts for dinner), with a small breakfast option (not worth it).... no sitting area, no nothing. Wondering how this place can be part of Marriott (I even had to file a claim to get my points, they did not process them). Ah! I almost forget, lift did not work the last two days, no one offered to help with luggage when leaving and I was in a fourth floor!... those 4 and 5* reviewers should have a very different opinion of what a 4* Marriott hotel should be or I really can't understand them. All of this for over 300 EUR the night. You decide...

We really had a wonderful stay at this hotel. It was recommended by British Airways as part of their holiday package. It is set in a residential area, very close to the Eiffel tower which was a short walk away. The hotel is also very near two metro lines; the 6 and 10 - both within easy walking distance. Additionally, there is a supermarket nearby, multiple cafes and Boulangeries (although many closed during the August holidays - as we found out). The hotel has a very boutique feel. The building externally was very well kept up. The staff at check-in were very nice when we entered. In fact, all staff interactions during our stay were excellent. I particularly liked the attention from the staff in the bar/breakfast area as well as out room cleaner. Our room was cozy, smaller than I had thought when booking but was very clean and appointed well. The sheets and bed were clean and very comfortable. Bathroom was extremely clean. Shower had both a sprayer and waterfall head. The safe was not working well was the only concern that effected me as regards the room. So, I kept my documents with me during my trip. We really liked the bar, it was very cozy and had a cocktail one night. The young lady that made our drinks was so friendly. Breakfast was fine in the mornings but most days we went out to a cafe so you may not need to have the breakfast option. The young lady that was in the breakfast area was also so nice! Finally, the terrace area on the top of the hotel was nice and you can just see the top of the Eiffel tower! Overall, would recommend this hotel. Very nice stay!

The room with twin beds is extremely small. We had to walk side-ways as we place our suitcases on the ledge across from the beds. There is no space to place our suitcases in the room, which made it very difficult to move around. There was no fridge in our room and no cold air-condition either. Paris becomes quite hot in summers. However, the room was clean, potable water provided daily and tidied up with towels replaced. Breakfast was very good and varied with fresh juices, pastries, cakes & cheeses. The walking 15 mins distance to Eiffel tower was excellent.

Google
Amazing hotel, with direct links to all the major sites in Paris and a view of the Eiffel Tower from the rooftop terrace. The staff were very friendly and rooms were very clean. I loved staying at this hotel and can’t wait to visit again.

Yelp
4 stars for a nice boutique hotel walking distance to the Eiffel Tower! We stayed during our layover and it was conveniently located. The hotel itself is rather small, I think there's only 9 rooms or so. The room was a typical Paris size, a little smaller than normal but the bathroom was quite larger than others. The shower was a good size and has a separate space for the toilet and sink. I love the look of the lobby, very modern cute terrazzo flooring and flutted marble on the reception desk. They gave us our room a little earlier than check-in which was nice since we came off a red eye. They were good about giving us filtered water and extra coffee pods. Pro tip: visit the bakery nearby in the AM, so many good options (go with the banana chocolate crosssiant) at a great price!

Yelp
Rooms were very clean had heating and air-conditioning very nice amenities and breakfast was amazing. I wish it was near a busier area better than that it's a hotel I'd go back to. But I wish they knew and use the Hyatt program more.

Yelp
This is not a good hotel to deal with. Bad customer service. Misleading photos and policies. I would not stay at their properties. They are not hyatts and not of the same quality. I booked a room with a queen sized bed at hotel Wallace in Paris. When I arrived I was given a single twin and told that if I wanted a queen I would have to pay more money. I couldn't sleep in a twin with my friend and so I asked to cancel the room. They wouldn't do this for me. I canceled on the website and was charged $500. Additionally the rooms are dark, humid and are falling apart. It's also in a rundown area of the city. Do not stay here.
