Hotel Windsor, Nice, France - Explore & Book

"Don’t be fooled by the bland name or the unassuming 19th-century façade. Just 5 minutes away from Nice’s famous promenade, past its busy shopping streets on a quiet corner, you step into an exotic oasis of art and colour. There’s an ancient Chinese throne in the lobby, a giant musical bamboo mobile, a lift designed by Andy Warhol’s muse Ultra Violet, and original Tintin posters on the walls. But the cherry on the cake is a tropical courtyard garden with towering bamboo, rubber trees, yuccas, bougainvillea, palms, singing birds and a small pool. The hotel is a veritable style museum, with 30 of the 57 rooms decorated by contemporary artists in bold and eccentric ways, from minimalist-conceptual to wacky-whimsical. You might find hanging street signs, witty graffiti, comic-strip frescoes, a ray of painted sunshine, a gold-walled cube with a pure white bed. But this is no snobby, hard-edged design hotel. It's unpretentious and very affordable: one of the few remaining family-run places on the Riviera. And for the less design-conscious, the remaining 27 rooms offer a more sedate (though still comfortable) option. Highs Bright rooms with high ceilings, comfortable beds, powerful showers, enticing baths and plenty of mod cons alongside unique design. It's as far removed from chain hotels as can be!Wonderful patio nestled in the lush garden ideal for a lingering breakfast or an alfresco dinnerDinner is exceptional value, and during our latest revisit we ate one of the best steaks we’ve ever hadSuperb Moroccan-style hammam, a spa offering herbal oil massages, and a sauna for exclusive use onlyYou're in the heart of town, amidst cool shops and buzzy restaurants, just a 5-minute walk from the Promenade des Anglais and 10 minutes from the Old Town Lows Street-facing rooms ("Intimacy" and most "Creation") can get traffic noise; we'd recommend a garden-side room (ideally "Privilege" or "Seduction")Rooms are undergoing a rolling refurbishment, which means some are pristine while others look a little tired (and note, they cannot guarantee specific rooms within each category)The pool is small, and in a shady part of the garden, but fine for cooling off in on a hot dayBreakfast is extra. We’d rather stroll into town and grab a coffee and pastry there instead" - Emily McDonnell

Just here on our final night of five wonderful nights at this beautiful and very charming hotel. I am writing this whilst sitting in our balcony, in the tree tops of the very impressive rubber tree growing in the tranquil garden. Room 76 is a dream. |As others have mentioned the hotel is a little dated but this just adds to its charm. You can feel the history of the hotel all around you and the buzz it must have had in its hay day. |The staff are lovely, very welcoming and attentive, they helped to make our stay for our 15th wedding anniversary trip just perfect, thank you. |Our room is just beautiful and the room is serviced each day with new towels, beds made and a tidy round. |The hotel is in a great location, a short walk to the beach and a lovely stroll to the old town Nice but plenty near by for what you may need bars and restaurants etc… We didn’t eat at the Hôtel restaurant but would highly recommend the restaurant “La Vague” just up the road from the hotel, the grilled octopus was divine, booking ahead is recommended.|Although the hotel is so in reach of the hustle and bustle of Nice you would not know it as it is still very peaceful. |We only had breakfast one morning which was lovely and plenty to fill you up but a little over priced, although eating in the garden was a treat. |The pool is very refreshing and great way to start your day.|We had a wonderful and very relaxing massage at the spa, to start of our stay that set us up for the busy few days ahead.||I cannot recommend the Windsor art hotel enough and would love to return again on a future trip. Thank you for having us

My fiancé and I loved our stay at the WindsoR Jungle Art Hotel! We walked directly to the hotel from the Nice - Ville train station (~10min) and were greeted by English-speaking front desk staff who offered us “Welcome” drinks of orange juice and coconut rum. Spacious room with a pretty big bed, and jungle-themed walls, of course. Great balcony, beautiful courtyard + pool. Delicious breakfast. Quick walk to many restaurants and the sea and just a bit further to old Nice. Proximity to the train station provided easy access to Menton and the base of the Nietzche trail at Éze-sur-mer. We came back to a very clean room every day. Highly recommend!

Location, hospitality, bed, food, service all great!|Employees are especially friendly and happy to help!|Walking distance to two train stations. The air conditioning, windows and shutters all work fine. It is easy to save energy via thermostat, and fresh air and thaw beautiful light. Local restaurants and bakeries are a block away. There is a Catholic mass held every day at 6 pm just 2 blocks west of the hotel. Shira and Vincent were especially friendly helpful and warm.

What a charming gem of a hotel. It's in an old elegant town house very well located just a few minutes walk from the Promenade des Anglais and not too far to walk to the main train station. It is an area known as the musicians' quarter because the streets are named after famous composers.|The hotel is comfortable but not over smart. It may not have all the amenities of a modern business hotel but it more than makes up for this in individuality and charm. There is a lovely wild, jungly garden and a nice, smallish pool. I had a pleasant, large room on the first floor overlooking the garden (no. 15). Nice is packed with tourists in high summer and this hotel provided a lovely refuge from all the activity outside. It is a poetic, romantic place and the staff could not be kinder or more friendly. I hope to return soon.

Hotel staff was very kind and the backyard was beautiful. Also the location was excellent, quite and close to everything. Room was also big, whoch was nice.||For the room, it smelled quite a lot and all of our clothes were damp after leaving. Our swimming clothes or towels did not dry overnight because of the humidity. ||For this level of hotel, I would have excpected separate shampoo and soap, room cutlery to be cleaned everyday and to have clean iron and iron table.||Feels like the hotel has been excellent in the past, but might need some upgrading.

My partner and I were so excited to stay at this hotel, and while the staff was friendly, the rest of the experience was a letdown, especially for the $660 we paid for three nights. Our room felt old. Not Like The Pics online at all. The window blinds had a bizarre yellow tint, which didn't feel very clean. The electrical outlet next to the bed was a bit loose, so my phone didn't charge overnight, which was really frustrating. The gym was just okay. The machine was broken, and there was a drip of water from an open window. The biggest disappointment was the towels. We asked for two, and both were incredibly dirty with yellow stains. The shower was basic. While the reception staff was welcoming. The location was great, but unfortunately, that was the only positive thing about our stay.

Decent hotel in a great location! I would rate a 3 star, it was perfect for us a group of 4 friends to use as a base. The rooms were ok and provided everything we needed. Pretty basic but we were just there to sleep. Did not use the pool or have any food at the hotel but the staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed for 3 nights and the location was great. Easy to walk to the Promenade within 8-10 minutes and the train station in 10-12. Nice area, felt safe at all times. Many bars, restaurants, shops, bakeries and everything you need on the doorstep. Good value for the location.

It is a nice enough hotel for a 3 star hotel. Absolutely not worthy of 4 stars. The hotel desperately needs a thorough renovation. The ambiance is nice, they try to create an artsy- art deco kind of vibe, which I like, however everything is very old and poorly maintained. In a 4 star hotel I expect some level of service but no one even showed us where the elevator was or helped getting our luggage up to the room. The room was so old- there was an old shower curtain, very old fashion and uncomfortable, 2 lights didn’t work (they did repair it when we told them about it) which tells me also that housekeeping does not pay attention. Again, not the level of a 4 star hotel. The price of the room was therefore excessive. Should have been ⅓ of the price for what you receive. The location is great. The garden is nice. Beds are good. If they do a complete renovation then it’ll be a wonderful hotel with a nice ambiance.
