Empire Food Catering / Le Xin Catering - Severe Under-Portioning and Zero Weekend Support
We ordered a 9-course buffet lunch for 60 guests for my daughter's full-month celebration. The experience was deeply embarrassing and unacceptable.
Despite only having 52 guests arrive (including 12 children), the food was 90% finished by 1:30 PM, long before the last guests had arrived. The shortage was so severe that we were forced to scramble, ordering emergency pizzas and sending friends out to buy wings and nuggets for a last-minute deep fry/BBQ just to feed everyone. My own family members did not even get to eat the catered food, and guests described the meals we did receive as "meh."
The service failure was just as critical. While running out of food during our event on a weekend, there was zero operational support. I called the driver who delivered the food, but the office failed to contact me back as promised. We received no assistance when we needed it most. They only replied on Monday, two days later, after I raised a complaint through Foodline.
Their only justification was a "guaranteed 10% buffer," which clearly did not compensate for the extreme under-portioning delivered. Furthermore, the disposable plates provided were flimsy; we had to use two plates just to handle the curry gravy without it soaking through.
This company failed on portion control, product quality, and critical customer support. We felt entirely cheated and profoundly embarrassed in front of our guests. There was a complete lack of ownership or timely support for a basic catering failure. I strongly advise others to look elsewhere.
