These people work absolute magic on beat-up shoes and handbags. It's not cheap, but it's usually less expensive than replacing something entirely. Regardless of the shape your stuff is in when you leave it, it always comes back looking nearly brand-new. It's always fun to be nosy and look at the names on the bags waiting to be picked up—you'll spy some fancy folks, some fashion editors, definitely a few fashion houses, and maybe a celeb.

Google
5 stars… but the quality of work and friendliness of staff deserves 10!! Leather Spa is far superior to any other Shoe/Handbag/Leather Accessory repair place in NYC. The quality of work is exceptional. In addition to repairs they also offer services to protect your luxury handbags and shoes from looking ‘worn’ if you use them frequently. The John St. (FiDi) location is clean and welcoming and the staff are friendly, personable and trustworthy. I couldn’t be happier with the service I received and highly recommend them!!!

Google
This place is definitely more expensive than typical cobblers, but they specialize in designer items. I somehow ripped my Loro Piana Summer Charm Walk loafers, and they repaired the suede to look brand new. I've had other shoes treated and repaired here before--it's pricey, but I think it's worth it. The downside is they push store items on you, which can be a bit annoying. Also, the wait time can be up to three weeks.

Great little shop for a classic “in the chair” shine. Angela cleaned up an aging pair of Oxford lace ups. Made them look great. Definitely worth a visit.

Google
Angela did such a great job with my Dox Martens! She was so sweet too and really attentive. They have great service here and it was only 10 bucks. Would definitely recommend.

Brought a vintage designer bag with a ruined handle and they completely refurbished the strap, making the bag look brand new!!! I was thrilled and couldn’t wait to wear it again. I came back with a pair of damaged heels and right on the spot, they fixed it immediately and complimentary!!!! I highly recommend this location for excellent service in leather goods.

Google
I have come here many times but was not impressed with recent visit. Took a pair of shoes to be cleaned and they completely ruined the suede and changed the Colour. When I picked the shoes up- he denied that the shoes were ever a different Colour. The suede was ruined- if you can’t clean them correctly they should have said prior that they wouldn’t be able to do it. See before and after

My Marc Jacob handbag looks like a brand new again. Thanks Julio for your outstanding work. I truly appreciate it!

Yelp
Having known that Leather Spa is Christian Louboution's unofficial official repair shop for quite a while, I wanted to wait until I could actually take my Loubs to a physical Leather Spa store. Sure, they can do it all online, but nothing beats doing something personally. So on my latest New York trip, my shoes were sufficiently beat up enough after almost two years of wearing them to justify a trip here. Staff here are great. I really wasn't sure whether to go for a full redo of the red lacquer, which quite honestly I didn't see the point of because the second you walk out the door it's getting scratched again, or the red rubber sole, which I wasn't sure about at first but warmed up to once they told me how they did it. Basically, they scratch off all the remaining red lacquer on the bottom of the shoe and then put the rubber sold there so that it's evenly layered with the remaining lacquer. After discussing my options with staff, I decided to go with the rubber sole, because quite honestly as much as the lacquer is the trademark Louboutin feature, I'm not going to waste my time redoing it again and again and again. Also, my shoes did feature some general wear and tear, so I needed that fixed. They grabbed my address and told me it would be about 3-4 weeks to ship back home to California. Obviously, I couldn't write this review without actually receiving the shoes and evaluating their work. I can see why Christian Louboutin himself has blessed Leather Spa. The red rubber sole fits perfectly, and all the scratches and imperfections my shoes had gathered over the nearly two years of use were all buffed out. Honestly, it almost felt as if my shoes were new again. I am extremely happy with the work Leather Spa did. Staff were great on explaining exactly how everything would work, and the shoes were fixed as described. Since I have yet another pair of Loubs, I'll definitely bring them to Leather Spa once I need to

Yelp
I brought a Chanel and a Celine bag here. Both were hack jobs yet it cost me almost $700? All this place does is spray paint the bags with the color, maybe rub it down with some generic leather oil. Both my bags started cracking within a week of getting it back from them. They are definitely scam artists here. Never again! What a ripoff

Yelp
I recently lost a ton of weight and my brand new Gucci belt that I purchased just a few months before was several inches too long. I went to the Gucci boutique to ask them to add extra holes. They told me that they don't add holes but referred to this place. They said that they refer lots of their clients to this location because they do good work. Good enough for Gucci, good enough for me! I had the choice of getting the leather cut shorter (they would cut near the buckle) or add more holes. They quoted me $48 to cut it shorter or $2 per hole. No brainer. I did the holes. I only needed two extra holes on the belt. I picked it up an hour later and it was done and perfect. The two extra holes looked exactly like the original holes. Evenly spaced and the holes were the exact size. Final price was $4. They don't even add tax. I was so happy with the service and the quality of work that I just gave her a $5 and told her to keep the change. I ruined a different Gucci belt several years ago by taking it to a random shoe repair place that placed the holes too far apart and not in line with the other holes. It completely ruined my belt and I believe they charged like $10 for the holes. Do yourselves a favor and bring your belts to this place. I have several other belts at home that need shortening. I will be bringing them soon!

Yelp
Leather Spa is a life saver. My LV Neverfull purse side strap got caught on a revolving door, and my purse was torn. Thankfully I took my LV to Leather Spa for repair and it is now brand new! Great pricing and fast service. Definitely recommend! I also brought in my Gucci belt for extra holes, and this was service was done on the spot within 5 minutes.

Yelp
1 start for the clean space 1 star because the lady helping me out was somewhat pleasant. So I go into have my backpack repaired. Once of the straps had come undone. A simple fix, though. You just need to insert it back in and then sew. So the lady looks at it and says "it's going to take about three weeks." Three weeks!? Really!? On something that would only take 5 minutes to fix? But having never had a bag repaired, I'd deal. Then she tells me it's going to cost $96 (NINETY SIX DOLLARS!!!!!) to fix. Let that sink in... 3 weeks.. and for $96. So I left and went to a shoe repair place a block and a half away and the nice guy looks at it and says "That's going to be $15. Would you like to pick it up today?" Which place do you think I went with.. LeatherSpa.. what are you thinking!?

Yelp
Absolutely a great place that I wish was in Scottsdale or San Francisco. Excellence in service and a shine. Thank you for making me presentable for Fashion week.

Yelp
They did a great job of restoring a vintage Chanel bag. I really wish I took a 'before' shot as it was really beat up and had uneven color and scratches. I would say they are expensive but worth it. They also got a zipper on one of my Jerome Dreyfus bags unstuck.

Yelp
My bag has the same handles which my old repair shop sewed on. When I picked up my bag the staff member at the register said they "tightened" the handles. Initally, when I took my bag in I was told by their staff that leather handles would be replaced. Why would I pay over $120.00 to have the handles tightened? That doesnt make since. I am very disappointed.

Megan B.

Yelp
I had a disappointing experience at this shop. I brought in a pair of $230 flats and paid $180 to repair them. Given the cost, I expected nothing but perfection in my repair. However upon picking my shoes up I was disappointed to see that repairing the sole of the shoe entailed them fixing only the sole of the heel and the top of the sole, not also the middle of the sole, aka the entire sole. This was a cheap attempt not to replace all of it. I was mislead when I dropped the shoes off and was told that would be done. How a shop could lie to you and charge such a high price is disturbing and upsetting. I've never had an issue at other shoe repairs between what is communicated will be done and the work that is actually done. I will advise the shoemaker not to recommend this shoe repair to customers. Please be painfully explicit if you intend to spend your money here Photos demonstrate the lack of work done.

Neha E.

Yelp
Let me make one thing clear- I have been using leather spa for years now. I have referred countless friends and family members here. However i had a very poor experience today as part of the customer service. I handed over a pair of Sophia Webster metallic shoes for a tap. The right show had two small scratches as pictured below. When I got the shoe back, there were many more scratches on it. I asked about the scratches- and the leather spa had taken pictures of the scratches from before as well. The manager DID NOT acknowledge that there were more scratches when I picked up the shoes, even though the pictures clearly show them. I was not looking for money back or anything. He also said that there was nothing they could do about it. Fine. But a simple ACKNOWLEDGEMENT of their mistake would have sufficed. Very disappointed in the customer service I received!

Emily S.

Yelp
I paid a lot of money because I know leather spa does good repairs, but after 3 wears both of the new soles of my boots started PEELING off. This is just from walking around no salt exposure or anything. Please go to another leather repair shop.

Yelp
Leather Spa is fantastic. I have only had positive experiences. The place to go for shoe and leather repairs as well as shoe shines. The customer service is excellent, courteous and professional.

Yelp
Definitely worth a visit for a shoe shine. As someone who rarely carries cash, the ability to pay for the shine with a credit card is amazing. Further, the nice leather chairs with the recently added iPads allow you to browse the internet during your shine. A number of popular apps are installed, including news apps like CNN and BBC, as well as Reddit. I've never had to wait for a shine, and they always do a great job. For $6, it's a deal you can't beat and the price leaves room for a nice tip. They will occasionally get busy towards the middle of the day, and I've been told in the past that they weren't doing shines at that time, despite the sign advertising the same. This was a bit annoying, but what can you do? I'd advise they make clear that shoe shines aren't available at a specific time if that is the case. I also get the sense that shoe shines aren't a revenue driver, so you're treated in proportion to the value you give the company. This shows through in service. Beyond shoe shines, my girlfriend took some shoes here for resoling, which took approximately 2 weeks. She's been happy with the result. She also purchased some water proofing spray, which is one of their many leather accessories that you can purchase in-store. If you're in the area, cashless, and need a respectable shoe shine, definitely take the 10 minutes to stop by.

Yelp
Wow! These guys are truly the best. I took my great aunt's 1940s patent leather and bakelite purse here for a major cleaning. It had been sitting in my grandmother's basement for over 70 years and was dull, scratched, and stinky. I picked it up this morning and actually GASPED when I saw it because they did such an amazing job. The leather is supple and shiny and the bakelite (which I was particularly worried about) is perfect. They even cleaned it TWICE for me at no extra charge to remove the smell. They are miracle workers. The staff was also amazing - kind and sweet. They both called and emailed me to let me know when the purse was ready for pickup. You would be a fool to take your precious leather goods anywhere else. I look forward to bringing in my Alexander Wang bag next for a tune up. Thank you Leather Spa!!

Yelp
Best shoe shine job. Ever. This review is regarding Paul, the Ecuadorean shine jockey at the Brookfield Place/WTC tunnel shoe shine station. Stopped by on a whim to rejuvenate my four-year-old battered Kenneth Cole workhorses. Was seated promptly during the end-of-day rush (5:30pm) and Paul went to work, starting with a neutral cream, then rubbing in at least three layers of hard polish which were driven home with both wet and dry buffing that brought my old shoes to a near-golden shine. Seriously, the shoes looked better than when they were purchased new. And for $6, the result was an absolute bargain worthy of a generous tip. This was in stark contrast to the hack jobs available at several store-based shines at Midtown competitors, which consist of maybe a layer and a half of a brown cream-based treatment and dry buffing only. Those polishes last about a week; wonder what kind of mileage I'll get out of this one? Additional credit for the modern shine station, which featured both AC power outlets and USB ports to give the phone its own electronic shine during the wait.

Yelp
Based on other reviews Leather Spa is great for shoes, but apparently SHOES only. I dropped off my favorite leather belt so that the screws on the buckle could be reinforced and for a new notch on the tightening end. I assumed they were professionals at this place.. they convinced me they knew how to make the belt how I wanted using their preferred method, reassuring me of the results. A month went by since I dropped my belt off and they never called or emailed me to tell me it was ready. I figured they were probably too lazy to let me know and that my belt had to be finished by now so I went to pick it up. When I saw it, it had turned into a child's belt - all I wanted was an extra hole! They had cut off a little over 3 inches and there was no extra hole whatsoever. When I tried it on it barely fit, only on the very last notch which left me with no versatility towards wearing or would be useless if I gain any weight. They told me I approved the cutting of 3 inches and I said there had to have been some miscommunication because I approved minimal cutting where the leather meets the buckle. The staff argued with me when I expressed my disappointment and offered no compensation. I would not have been upset if I brought my belt to a cheap repair place where I knew what I was paying for, but leather spa is SUPER EXPENSIVE. I truly expected to be happy with my investment and it's not the case. Do not risk bringing your expensive or favorite leather bags and accessories here.

Yelp
This place makes me so happy they always do an amazing job on my shoes. They're fast and they have great customer service too. Will continue taking my shoes here.

Yelp
What a fantastic place. I was staying at a hotel nearby and had some new shoes that were a smidge too big. I took a chance and stopped in 10 minutes before closing and presented my problem. They knew just what to do. But they didn't just hand me a product, take my money and push me out the door. They personally fitted it in the shoe, made sure it worked and then presented me with a bill of all of 3 dollars and change. They could have charged me $10 for the quality of service alone and I wouldn't have blinked. This place is a treasure. A+ all the way!

Yelp
Quick bag repair. Took a week. Quick intake, I was called when the bag was ready, quick pickup, great repair. No complaints.

Yelp
Just when I thought it couldn't be done, they did the impossible. They cleaned my favorite boots after 2 shoe repair places said it couldn't be done. My favorite leather boots had severe damage (I really have no idea how they got stains on them, but the leather was also damaged) and I wasn't sure if they could be fixed. After visiting the leather spa, the manager explained the process to me and said the leather would be steam cleaned and the stains could come out, but it would take around 3 weeks and, and the leather may be slightly darker. He also gave me a quote that I thought was kinda high, so I took a change and got a second opinion. The other shoe repair places stated that "no one could get the stains out and the only option would be to dye the boots a different color". So I didn't want to change the color of my boots so I went back to the Leather spa and took a risk with my babies. Around 2 weeks later they said my boots were ready. I went to get them and they honestly look brand new. The color us slightly off but not more than the original color and I'm OK with that. All of the stains are out and the boots look amazing. I highly recommend them!!

Yelp
They responded to my review I think to save face with the yelp readers. I emailed them about the situation and never got a response from them.

Yelp
I haven't picked up my shoes yet but i dropped off my Louboutins to get the red soles repaired. i thought i wanted it repainted and but the lady explained to me exactly what the different services were and i understood better. so i opted for getting the red rubber soles put on which would be better so they wouldn't scuff again. i'm excited to pick them up and if was finished faster than i expected. i could've gotten them delivered (i live in jersey) but i hate paying for shipping lol so i will be getting them soon. i'll update when i pick up my shoes. hopefully there are no issues.

Yelp
This place defines what a good shoe shine experience ought to be: comfort seating, friendly staff, thorough shine from front to back to sides. The price is a lot higher than your traditional local places, but it is indeed the best, 5 star experience. At leather spa, you do get what you paid for. $5 shine + $2 tip will make your shoes look like a million buck.
google avatar

Adrian C.

Yelp
The man was very helpful I told him I wanted to add two holes to my belt and he was very helpful and it was very fast and only $2 per hole.

Mike J.

Yelp
Hands down the best show repair and maintenance place in the city. The work they do is second to none. On top of that the customer service is excellent. The manager at this particular location is wonderful to deal with and bent over backwards to make me happy. I've always been impressed with their level of craftsmanship but the outstanding customer service compelled me to write a review.

Yelp
If you value your luxury bag please do not bring it to this establishment! I dropped off my Celine Trio bag to get it conditioned and have some scratches buffed out. When I picked up my purse I thoroughly inspected it and first off the scratches were pretty visible but apparently it was "the best they could do". For $140 I was expecting much more. But this is besides the point! The pristine gold Celine logo embossed on the front of the purse was returned to me noticeably faded and faint like it was rubbed off. I brought this to their attention and their response was that "no, we never touch the logo it's impossible for us to have done that". BS. When I dropped off my purse the embossed logo was vibrant an new and when it was returned to me it looked old and faded. A wild coincidence? More like incompetence.

Yelp
Wilson at the Saks Fifth Avenue location (250 Vesey Street in Brookfield Place) is terrific! He has repaired multiple items for me and done an absolutely perfect job. I would trust him with anything that needs repair.
google avatar

Yelp
My ysl tribute sandals were too loose around the ankles so I had to come here to get an extra hole on each strap. It's $2 for each hole put in. The staff is very friendly and I was in and out in 15 min. I took away one star because the new hole was not evenly spaced out on one of my shoes. Wish he was a bit more meticulous.

Joshua B.

Yelp
I brought in my brand new pair of magnanni whole cut dress shoes to have flush toe and heel taps (which they call French toe plates) installed. If you love dress shoes, then you know that this is a very specialized job which is done at very few cobblers in NYC. The only other place in NYC that I know of which does this is B. NELSON, but I was hesitant to go to them after reading many bad reviews of them.) The Leather Spa is the place to go and did an awesome job on my shoes. It only took them a couple days to finish and I got an email and phone call telling me when they were finished. I am thoroughly impressed by Leather Spa. The employee who helped me, Jose, was excellent. He was knowledgeable, efficient, and friendly. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Sokari E.

Yelp
Went in to purchase a pair of insoles to help with my flattened flat feet on the recommendation of my chiropractor who is one awesome guy. They were extremely helpful, no hard sell which I hate and is a big turn off. I ended up buying a new pair of laces and getting my 15 year old brown Dr Marten's [DMs] which I had bought on sale for about $30 in London - SPIT AND POLISHED by Sam the man. Yea a long winded story just to say this was my first shoeshine and loved it. Sam is the best shoe shine man in the world. Now my boots are like mirrors to my feet, I love it.

Joshua B.

Yelp
The shop looks absolutely beautiful and well taken care of. Both of the employees were helpful and knowledgeable. I brought in a new pair of Magnanni mens dress shoes to have a toe plate installed, or as they call it a french metal tip. I am very very particular about my dress shoes and this is a very specialized job. I only know of one other shop in NYC that can do this type of specialized job and that is B.Nelson or VIP shoe. I didn't want to go to B.Nelson because some of their reviews are very bad and didn't want to take the chance with this beautiful pair of shoes. I dropped the shoes off today and the employee said it should take about 4 days. I will update this review when I get the shoes back.

Jillian J.

Yelp
I brought in a pair of Louboutins to be soled and have heel fixed. Julio at the front desk was great and assured me my shoes would be ready when I needed them and he kept his word! My shoes came out great thanks so much!

J. R.

Yelp
Great shop and good service. Feels like a superior experience to the other shops around.
