Great place for an original lebkuchen , They also have amazing cookies, staff is good and offered us some samples to try out.

I drove to Munich to get to this place because it was highly recommended. I arrived at 5:38 PM, well before the posted closing time of 6 PM — only to find it already closed. Absolutely unacceptable. No notice, no explanation. A complete waste of my time and fuel. Extremely disappointing.

All was great! The staff were friendly and explained us everything about the product, the difference, the price range, etc. We even returned to buy some more, after having a taste. We loved the one with orange and chocolate!

Good place to get some Nürnberger Lebkuchen. Service could be a little better.

Stayed in Munich for a few days. I was trying to get some sweets, but the store wasn't open as per their opening hours. Tried multiple times within 10am - 6pm.

I was absolutely appalled after reading the ingredients at home (too late, unfortunately). When a product claims to be "original" or "traditional," I expect a recipe that is decades, if not hundreds, of years old, made with ingredients that were available at the time. However, these Lebkuchen contain modern additives like glucose-fructose syrup, waxy corn starch, emulsifiers, invert sugar syrup, sorbitol (among others). I felt deceived by the marketing — this is not what I consider traditional or original. I have no desire to eat such ultra-processed food. The producer even has a dedicated page explaining the product’s contents (https://www.lebkuchen-schmidt.com/de/weihnachtswelt/lebkuchen-wissen/lebkuchen-zutaten-40/), but it highlights only the key spices and other appealing ingredients, claiming using modern technologies for recipes that are hundreds of years old. All the questionable additives are conveniently omitted. I called the hotline and was initially told I could return the purchase. However, after speaking with an employee in the shop and calling the hotline again, I was informed that food purchased in-store cannot be returned. The employee at the shop was polite and offered me some biscuits as compensation. This time, I checked the ingredients and immediately spotted palm oil. I couldn’t help but smile at the irony and politely declined the offer.

I was taking two of my friends who were visiting from abroad to buy traditional German gingerbread . It was embarrassing how one of the employees there behaved. She was all sweet to other customers but she turned to us with a frown and was barely helpful. We weren’t even there long enough for her to act that way to us. Strangest in -store experience.

Friendly staff but I wish shop should have sample product to try

If you're a fan of Lebkuchen this place has a lot to offer. I think the biggest benefit over local bakeries is their nice gift packaging (metal tins, lovely designs). Service was efficient and accommodating. I purchased both plain and chocolate covered lebkuchen and we all loved them. The sugar cookies (little star shapes) were also delicious. A great stop if you need some gifts for home.
