Leblon Beach in Rio de Janeiro is one of the city's most upscale and tranquil beach spots. Known for its soft white sand and calm waters, it's a favorite among locals and visitors seeking a more relaxed atmosphere compared to the busier Ipanema and Copacabana beaches. The area is also surrounded by high-end restaurants and shops, making it a perfect destination for a laid-back day by the sea with a touch of luxury.

Leblon Beach, located in the upscale neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, offers a stunning and serene retreat from the bustling city life. Known for its clean, golden sands and clear waters, it attracts both locals and tourists who seek a more tranquil experience compared to the more crowded Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. Leblon's charm lies in its laid-back atmosphere and exclusivity, providing a relaxing escape for sunbathers, swimmers, and surfers alike. The beach offers breathtaking views of the surrounding Dois Irmãos mountains, adding to the picturesque beauty of the landscape. Leblon's quieter vibe makes it ideal for families, couples, or anyone looking to unwind while still enjoying the vibrant energy of Rio. There are various kiosks along the beachfront offering refreshing drinks and local snacks, including the popular açaí bowls and coconut water, perfect for cooling off in the tropical heat. For those who enjoy outdoor activities, there are sports courts and fitness stations along the promenade. Additionally, the nearby Leblon neighborhood boasts excellent restaurants and boutique shops, making it easy to extend your visit beyond the beach. Overall, Leblon Beach is a perfect blend of natural beauty

Very well maintained beach and great waves to swim in. We rented two chairs and a beach umbrella for 40,00 R$. The service was great as this stuff was directly brought to our preferred spot and we could always order drinks and snacks as we wanted. The vibe among people was chill and positive. Walking dealers weren't too annoying.

Leblon Beach is really nice and gives you an upscale feel. The views are just incredible.

The beach is beautiful; however, the presence of dogs and their waste on the sand is quite unpleasant. This issue detracts from the overall experience, making it difficult to enjoy walking or sitting on the beach. Therefore, I don't recommend visiting this location if you are planning to sunbathing.

People say it's nice... I say It's beautiful. It's not dangerous. Just don't be a freaking idiot! Why walk on the beach dressed up nice. Why bring valuable goods?? Just don't do it and you'll never be a Target! Great beach to tan or swim and good for finding cool seashells!

Amazing place, calm, lots of beautiful people and I felt safe. There is an amazing restaurant called O Bacana near by the 12. You can rent recliners and umbrellas on the beach, I always rented from Beto (tent 153) and they were amazing and the best part is that they take cash and credit card.

Absolutely beautiful, colorful sea waves, turquoise, blue, clear water.Sometimes waves are very strong, keep and eye if you are with children those waves are quite strong.Umbrellas and chairs for rent, 7brl for chair and 20brl for an umbrella. Some food and drink kiosks near by.Showers to rainse yourself, sometimes water smells bad though so becareful smell water first, others showers are just water from the sea, they run a hose from the sea to the shower.A lot of vendors by the beach, you can purchse alcohol from them as well, they take cash or cards.Great bech to spend the day just relaxing and playing with the waves.I did see some public washroom for a fee but I didn't use them.Parking could be a hassle.I rented a city bike they have few bike stations around.I felt safe, but always keep and eye on your stuff. Some parts has a beach lifeguard, and depend on the weather they will put a flag telling you by the colours is it safe to swim.Enjoy every second!♥️

Yelp
I was staying in Copacabana, but had been on the other end of RJ earlier that day and ended up in Leblon and worked my way up. I think this is my favorite out of the three and where I spent most of my beach time at. While I hadn't tried to go to Copacabana or Ipanema during the same hours, I found Leblon to be less crowded which I personally liked. It felt calmer, more relaxing here. You can rent a chair and umbrella for a day R$20 or R$40 (forgot) at the one I rented from. They help you set everything up and ask you where you would like to sit. You'll also have the chance to order a drink from their stand and they'll bring it out to you. I've paid both in the beginning and at the end - not sure what is the usual. They will usually come to check up on you I think or at least mine did. If you had agua de coco, they say you can leave it on the beach and there will be a team of people with a truck to pick them up at some point throughout the day (yes, I saw them). You'll see and get approached by many walking vendors on the beach. At first I was weary of some trying to sell me things I didn't want, but really I think it's great and I like how they're there. I've been told that these are all side hustlers trying to make an extra buck, but there are some that actually have good stuff. For example, I had bought sterling silver jewelry two separate times from the same artists, different days on Leblon Beach. I have tried some of the food / snacks and the Yerba mate tea. I wish I had tried all or more of the food vendors. I think I was hesitant b/c I wasn't sure how the food would be ok if they'd been walking all day with it, but hot food really does stay hot cause they carry them in insulated bags. You'll see vendors carrying swimwear, towels, sunscreen, sunglasses, macrame jewelry and accessories, and food of all kinds (burgers, shrimp, corn, salgados, e doces). Always be cognizant of your belongings and those who are around you. I never had any issues, but I've heard stories of people getting robbed before - they either work in teams of two or more sometimes and might try to distract you while the other tries to pickpocket you or steal your stuff. Never leave your valuables unattended if you plan to go into the water. When you're ready to leave, just leave everything where it was. The crew picks everything up throughout / towards the end of the day. If you need to use the restroom, there are public restrooms available for a fee. The one I went to was R$5 I think. There are areas to clean off the ocean water and sand - outdoor showers (they usually keep running all day) and then smaller ones by the steps to the sidewalk for your feet, etc. If you're into volleyball, you can also join a group to play for a fee. If you workout, there are various workout bars (not sure what to call them) spaced amongst the sidewalks of the beach and of course, you will see joggers / runners on the road along with cyclists and people riding Itaú bikes along the path. I rented the Itaú bikes a couple times and one day I road it from Copacabana to Leblon and back. Use your app to locate the many bike docking stations. People usually start filtering out around 7pm. There's a good view of Dois Irmãos. Be sure you have sunscreen and sun protection cause even on cloudy days could you possibly get a bad sun tan (I sure did, lol and I still have an outline from the top I was wearing *crying emoji face*).

Yelp
Beautiful, but again, it's just a beach. Same as I said with copa and Ipanema. It's really nice and beautiful scenery, but at the end of the day, it is only a beach. Great for people watching and going for a jog though. Avoid street food vendors as they don't often clean their hands.

Yelp
The neighborhood of Leblon is the quieter sister of Ipanema, extending along the same stretch of coast, separated only by the canal through which water flows into and out of Lagoa. Leblon beach, consequently, is more of a family beach than Ipanema beach, and less crowded and more downbeat. Occasionally a big stretch of the beach is taken up for beach volleyball tournaments, complete with bleachers and fencing. That set-up certainly doesn't detract from the Leblon experience.

Yelp
This is a really scenic beach situated in Rio's "South Side," right next to Ipanema. On my previous trips to Rio, I've always enjoyed walking along the large sidewalk in the early morning or early evening to stretch my legs. There are epic views of the "Two Brothers" mountains (Dois Irmaos) and Arpoador, and it's lots of fun to grab a beer or coconut water at one of the many kiosks while settling in with friends for some great conversation and people watching. One word of caution - beware the foot washing stations and showers that come from small spigots along the edge of the sidewalk. There are several recent reports that the water from these sources is not... of the sufficient cleanliness to be good for you. Just sayin'. The ocean water in this area is also occasionally dirty and with trash bags and items in it, but I found it much cleaner than in the past. New Year's is the dirtiest time it seems, because of all of the offerings on the beach on New Year's Eve. All that being said, it's a wonderful place, filled with great memories and experiences. I would heartily recommend sampling the good things it has to offer! We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Very nice beach. Can get very crowded on the weekends. I feel like there are more locals gathered on this side compared to Copacabana side. I definitely think the water and beach is slightly cleaner then Copa.

Yelp
Not as touristy or loud as Ipanema and Copacabana next door, Leblon is the most subdued and quieter beach in the south zone of Rio, versus the hip and trendy Ipanema beach or the touristy Copacabana beach. It is located west of Ipanema and is an easy ten minute walk away. You can see hotels, restaurants, bars, and more from the beach, as well as volleyball nets and shops selling coconuts and drinks. The water is crystal clear and super clean, or at least it was when my friend and I went last week (March). Grab a coconut drink, swim in the ocean, and enjoy the sophisticated atmosphere!

Yelp
It's a beach in Rio so, you're basically in paradise. What more can you say? This one is a bit less crowded than the others so it's a good choice if you're more interested in personal space than people watching. You can get fantastic caipirinhas brought to you on the beach all day for about $2.50. What a country!

Guille D.

Yelp
Nice high end side of Rio. Good beach! Clean and the people at the beach are more middle or high class than lower in Copacabana. You will enjoy Leblon because it is more like a relaxed beach. I recommend it!
