Our stay at Lebo’s was just amazing. The place is beautiful and clean and we had the best shower ever. Couldn’t fault the staff, super friendly and helpful.||Fulu & Xoliswa were just the best guides we had for our 4 hour Pushbike tour around Soweto. Very informative and beautiful people, thank you so much, Karen & John

I had a lovely time lodging at Lebo’s Soweto Backpackers!! The rooms were so lovely, with spacious and clean bathrooms, delicious and carefully-prepared meals and such friendly staff! Our bike guide, Yeye, is so knowledgeable and cares about Soweto so deeply. I had a lovely time on our guided bike tour with Yeye! If you’re visiting South Africa, I would definitely recommend lodging here!

Wonderful experience. I did the 2hour tour with family/friends and it was truly worth it. The lunch before the ride was spectacular , and the service was impeccable. Our guide , ye-ye was extremely passionate and was wonderful at informing us all about Soweto . We met the locals and I loved seeing all the little kids who were equally happy to see us. If there is one thing to do in sa, it’s this. Highly recommend .

Lebo's backpackers is unique and one of the best. As always it's the people that make or break an experience and it's know exception at Lebo's. I could see the team here are a close knit group and are here to give their guests the best time. They have showcased to us the resilience of the Soweto township and it's people. Great food, comfy bed, clean rooms and common areas. We had a room with ensuite. Tents and dorm rooms are available. Plenty of in-house activities; biking tours, tuk tuk tours, walks, food tours and cooking classes. The team including guides immersed us in the history of Soweto, showcasing life as it was and imparted the positive developments of the new. We felt very safe while in Soweto, including our 4 night stay at Lebo's. We enjoyed a walk on our own, going to Nelson Mandela's house, Desmond Tutu house, Vilakazi street, and Hector Pieterson museum. Great interaction with Sowetites, welcoming us to their township. Also enjoyed a bike tour , tuk tuk tour and a story telling event including song. Thanks goes to the Lebo team for arranging airport shuttle anfy a driver to take us to a local shopping mall.

If you want an authentic, educational and entertaining Soweto experience, Lebo’s is the place to go! Many tourists come to Soweto on tours in buses and don’t interact with local people, Lebo’s is the genuine way to go! It’s a spacious hostel with cool decorations and lots of social spaces. The food is delicious and made from fresh ingredients grown in their community vegetable garden (which they converted from a rubbish dump!) and is all authentic cuisine made in house by the lovely chef, Dikeledi! That brings me to the best part of this hostel, which is undoubtedly the staff, they are so friendly and go above and beyond to help. Special thanks to Nonhlanhla in reception, Lungile who did our tuk-tuk tour where my son got to play football with the local children (his highlight of the holiday!) and especially to Nthabiseng in the bar who took extra special care of us. If you want a real Soweto experience, skip the tour buses and just come here!

I took the 4 hour bike tour today and can not explain just how amazing the experience was. I was collected from my hotel by the wonderful Issac who graciously shared with me tales of his life living in Soweto, which included being there during the student shootings in 1976. On the tour itself you become immersed in township life, and are welcomed wherever you go. I will absolutely never forget the smiling faces of the beautiful children who high fived us as we cycled past. Thank you Lebo's for all you do for your community, for this humbling and hopeful experience and for sharing your stories with us ❤️
