We visited this restaurant while staying in the area on holiday from London. We were a little apprehensive after reading some reviews about poor service, especially as we do not speak French and were taking our small dog with us, but we did not need to worry. The 2 waiters who seved us were friendly, attentive, helpful and offered fresh water for the dog. And the food?! Oh my goodness it was amazing! One of the best meals we have had in a long time. We went for the full menu and each course was delicious and beautifully presented. In a London restaurant we could easily pay twice as much for the same quality of food so found it great value for money. Our only regret is we did not visit earlier in our holiday so we had time to go back for a second visit. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening that will remain a holiday highlight.

Delicious eaten in the garden of this restaurant. This garden used to be the playground of the girls' school. The service was very smooth and the English menu was pleasant for us. The prices are cheap compared to a Dutch restaurant with the same quality.Paying with your phone is not possible and she didn't want to try this, while in France this often works if you enter the pin code on your phone in advance. Recommended to go to.........

Great fresh food at this local restaurant. Especially the starter and main dish. Update: had dinner here again and it absolutely was great again!

Google
Very nice restaurant, which offers quality meals. No frills, but French food like it's suppose to be. Good portions, yummie vegetables and thick creamy sauces. Dessert was great! Nice decor and great terrace.

It could have been a nice evening. The food was good, really good. But although it was just April and the season still has to start, it looked like the waiters were already fed up with tourists. Rude, arrogant and impolite.

It's always a pleasure to make the road up the summer freshness of Bar sur Loup, escaping the heat of the coast, and have a delicious dinner under the huge linden trees in the garden of the "École des filles" restaurant. If the choice is not huge, you can choose any item in the menu with blind eyes as everything is excellent and based on fresh products worked with love and patience. I strongly suggest you try the "Black Demon" 2020 Malbec Merlot wine, from their good selection. The good value for money makes the inland trip even more worth it. An address I strongly recommend! 👌

Really nice restaurant, fair price. Really good service. We had a blast. Love the omd pictures on the wall and the whole atmosphere.

I’ve come here several times over the past few years, each time it’s a sort of little treat towards myself. Today I just asked the two waiters (whom I love having short conversations with about their lives), how they handled constantly getting compliments for the good attitude and amazing food they provide. They said they regularly get customers who will easily criticize minor details and provide false reviews on Google maps, feels like they expected to be eating at a McDonalds. If there’s a restaurant I have to pick around the Côte d’Azur to eat at it’s this one, the food is beyond crazy and it’s very gastronomic yet incredibly affordable. It’s in the mountains, harder to get to, but nevertheless they have an amazing terrasse you must have lunch at if it’s sunny out. Do book and come try ! You’ll be impressed (and don’t leave if you don’t see anything of interest on the menu, EVERYTHING is delicious. You can pick with a blindfold on and will still be shown a world of taste)

Yelp
I went there recently as the neighbor restaurant was fully booked and I was charmed by the decor of this former school. They kept the photos, some old desks and even class books. We went there for lunch and my 3 years old was with us. We were given a table in the quieter room by the kitchen and it was lovely... until the very rude waiters came along. I thought it was one of the old school French attitude and was trying to scratch the surface to get them to joke but no. We just got very unpleasant service, and got really dry answers to our questions or inquiries. The food semi gastro was very average and quite tasteless to be honest. Despite the lovely set up, we will not go back after this negative experience.

Yelp
Charming girls school converted into a restaurant, conveniently located on main road, so that travellers not doing advanced research can stumble upon it when driving, as we did many years ago. Change of ownership hasn't affected the delicious cooking and friendly service. Prices may have gone up a bit, but it's still extremely reasonable. The menu changes every week, so if you stay long in the region, you should definitely go back.

Yelp
L'Ecole des Filles, literally The School for Girls, is a small restaurant in Le Bar sur Loup, which has retained its charm of an outdated school... The walls are stone, there are huge wooden beams, the lighting is subtle (but bright enough that you can read the menu!), and it is fairly well-spaced. I didn't pick up the tab as I went with family, but I am certain the price is a bit higher than what is listed on Google. Needless to say, it is a very delicious spot. We went for dinner, and though parking was rather complicated (especially when you have your 90 year old grandmother with you), it was very pleasant. We arrived relatively early, when only one other table was seated, and there were to serves (I believe the owners) waiting the tables. It got slower as the night progressed and other groups got there, so this is perhaps not a place to come by if you have definite plans right after. Food in France! What can go wrong? It was fresh, the flavours were present, and since we were a group, we had the choice of the different menus (they have set menus). Everything was very savory. Will probably go again; it would be nice to try the place at lunch instead this time.

Yelp
My wife and I had a meal here last night (yes, we made reservations). My wife had the vegetarian plate and was very happy. She also had the appetizer of the artichoke soup with mushrooms which has such great flavor (she let me have a taste). I had the salmon appetizer, presented beautifully and tasted as good as it looked. My main course I ordered from the chalkboard. It said "Filet Mignon". Being from America I naturally assumed this was filet mignon of beef. Not so. It turned out it is just as likely in France to have a filet mignon of pork, and this resulted in my being disappointed with my entree once it arrived, as the explanation on the chalkboard did not refer to pork. Had I known this I would have paired with a different wine as well. Please know, it was prepared well but was not what I wanted, and I did not wish to have it replaced as it would have delayed our eating dinner together. Other than the above we enjoyed the evening, but that said, this restaurant could not even compare to the divine culinary experience we had just two days previous at Le Donjon, just up the hill. The meal at Le Donjon was one I will remember fondly for my remaining days on this planet (see my review of that experience).

Yelp
This restaurant was recommended by our bed and breakfast host. We had the set menu, where you get three options per category and can choose one per. The menu changes every week depending on what's available at the market, I really enjoyed my meal and so did my husband. We both ordered different things. The portions are small like any any fancy set menu would be, but the price is very good. You should definitely try this place out.

Yelp
This restaurant was an old school for girls very nice and typical. The food is absolutely amazing, only fresh products perfectly cooked. Service is great. Prices are a bit high but for this gastronomic quality it's prefect.

Yelp
We came to L'Ecole des Filles on the recommendation of the AirBNB host we were staying with. The restaurant is charming and we were able to get a table when we arrive early at 7pm. By the time we left at 10:30pm on a Thursday, all the tables were full. The set menu is the only way to go and the options all sounded delicious, so we got one of each of the two options for starter, entree and dessert. They also had a good selection of new world wines by the glass which we enjoyed. Food was fantastic - but more importantly, the service was terrific. Since this restaurant is usually frequently by locals in the small village where it's located, there aren't a lot of tourists. We didn't know this and made the assumption that they would be able to accept our credit card without chip and pin. They weren't able to. So we only had 70 euros cash on us for a 90 euro dinner... The owner was kind enough to just take our 70 euros and take our word for it that we'd return the next night with the remaining 20 euros. We did return and all was well :) This isn't something a US restaurant would do, so we were charmed by the attitude they took here!

Yelp
Great food, and great setting, waiter a little too stuffy, but will definitely go back again soon.

Yelp
L'ecole des Filles is one of two terrific restaurants in Le Bar Sur Loup. The other is La Jarrerie located just down the street. L'ecole des Filles is family run with the husband cooking and the wife serving. When I was there they also had hired one other assistant. They had just two menu choices this past week, one fish and one a meat. The wine list is terrific (I had the Moscou). If you want more variety, La Jarrerie has a much large menu, but L'ecole des Filles is fresh and the menu is changing depending on the fresh local indgredients that can be found. The menu, off season, was priced at €35. Definately worth trying.
