LeCounte Glacier is a life altering experience. It is a 34 km and 1.6 km Glacier. My brother and I kayaked (with our Trak kayaks) down LeConte Bay which is also an incredible experience. While we were there the Glacier was calving, so we were able to see massive chunks of ice break off into the ocean creating huge waves in the water for us to ride. We heard from some locals that this Glacier is one of the few glaciers in Alaska still growing. Being on a kayak made the experience much more intense. We were able to get very close to the Glacier and take some incredible photographs. The trip into the bay took about three hours and is full of wildlife and giant icebergs. There are many boat tours that can bring you into the bay to see the Glacier but they don’t stay very long, maybe 15 min at the Glacier. There are plane tours as well. Which fly over the Glacier and return home. We flew a drone so we were able to see the planes view as well.
