14 Best Museums in Singapore | Condé Nast Traveler

"The LKC Natural History Museum explores biodiversity, environmental issues, and scientific research as it relates to Singapore and Southeast Asia at large. It’s no Smithsonian or American Museum of Natural History, but it’s not trying to be either. Foreigner ticket prices are quite high considering the relatively compact size of the museum. There are more than 2,000 specimens on display, spread across 15 different zones." - Ashlea Halpern

Google
A great place to visit if you’re interested in dinosaurs’ bones, fossils, plants and zoological specimens. Place is clean and well maintained. Service staff are friendly and helpful too. ** free admission for Singaporeans during their birthday month.

What a pleasant surprise to have found this gem! The museum was very well designed and had so much to see, making full use of every inch of space they had without making it seem cluttered (I mean, they managed to fit 3 full sized dino fossils in there!) Wonderful experience to learn about Singapore’s and the region’s biodiversity, and in awe at the wildlife that lived/lives among us. Museum was well-designed and sufficiently engaging for kids. Tip: Complimentary entry during your birthday month! 😄

My Family enjoyed this place. We visited this place after purchasing ticket at the other tour app. We could see from the very beginning of the earth and the paths of evolutions. And the details of various living things. This is very educational to my kids and myself. I think it‘s worthy to visit.

Google
Delightful museum visit for both children and adults! With three rare (near-complete) dinosaur fossils as the centerpiece, the other exhibits focus more on South East Asian biodiversity. Not a big space but 2 hrs likely insufficient given the impressive collection of specimens. No waiting time for tickets/entry when we visited on a weekend.

A hidden gem for an afternoon of enriching experience for the family. Although I was a student at the school, it never occured to me to visit it (for free). I had to pay now as I am no longer a student. Here is also the home to a couple of authentic dinosaur bones/ fossils! They are majestic when viewed up close. Other than the dinosaurs, there are bits and pieces of the history of how the specimens are collected in the region. Definitely worth a visit.

Google
A well-maintained and impressive little museum tucked away on the NUS campus. Entry is $18 for resident adults, but it’s free if you visit during your birthday month or if you’re an NUS student or staff, which is a nice perk. The museum is on the smaller side—you can comfortably see everything in about an hour—but the exhibits are high quality, especially the towering dinosaur skeletons, which were a real highlight. It’s very educational, though not the most suitable for young kids. My 5-year-old daughter was frightened by some of the lifelike stuffed animals, and we noticed other young children reacting similarly. It's worth a visit for the unique displays, but do note that it’s a bit out of the way and not near other attractions.

Visit during birthday month for free and received a pin. So cute!!!! Afraid of some insects and specimen so didn't look closely. Mammals and birds are ok but snakes specimen are scary. For people who are scared please take note

Google
Such beautiful museum with gigantic models of dinosaurs bones and all. Pretty far from the center but you can take the bus for visiting. Quite a walk from the bus stop to the uni and to get to the museum but beautiful sceneries are everywhere though. Worth visiting. You can buy tickets via Klook.

Yelp
Don't let my 3 stars deter you. The building itself has a long history. Sir Thomas Raffles established the Singapore Institute in 1823. Then a library. Now it houses natural history. Over a half million catalogued animal and plants species are here. A little taste of what you'll see- 3 diplodocus sauropod dinosaurs, 10 plus meter long sperm whale, slice of the changi tree, Neptune's cup sponge, cases of taxidermy animals, and special exhibits. Truly amazing for those who want to study the animals close up. I'll still to a zoo. $27SD for nonresident adults. They do take credit cards.

Yelp
Highly underrated museum!!! Can take 2 hrs to read most of the exhibits but can walk through in an hour. Lots of taxidermy/insect stuff to look at. There was a parasite exhibit that was cool but too scary for me to look at given the dark atmosphere (for the eerie look). I enjoyed it because there were lots of interesting facts, quirky animals I've never seen before (even taken from local ones!), and generally very cool to see the exhibits. It's like a mini NYC American museum of nature history Closed on Mondays! Right across from national singapore University $17 SGD including the 1 admin fee Further from the other museums so i used grab to get here Still WORTH A VISIT Better than national museum if you like animals&learning!

Yelp
I am definitely a museum kind of person, and the type that reads every word at that. I also love the natural sciences so I had to visit this museum. It was awesome! There are thousands of weird, beautiful, exotic, well-preserved specimens. And while they couldn't put a real Rafflesia arnoldii flower in the museum (because everyone would probably pass out from its rotting flesh smell) they at least put a very real-looking model of one right at the entrance of the museum. The bottom floor takes you through all the main categories of living organisms, going in chronological appearance on earth. For example, it starts with plants and ends with mammals. It also has the three complete dinosaur skeletons right in the center of the floor. There's a light show every half an hour (I believe) for the dinosaurs, and it's pretty much just different color lights and creepy music playing in the background. They are quite beautiful, though, and it's interesting to read about each one, where it was discovered, what kind of dinosaur it is, and how it was transported to and assembled in the museum. The top floor is about the natural history of Singapore itself. It is considerably smaller than the bottom floor but also interesting to read about. It talks about the different colonial researchers that came into Singapore in the early days and categorized many of Singapore's native wildlife. The displays are set up like closets and cabinets, with each researcher getting his own "closet" filled with his stuff and adjoining drawers and cabinets that you can open for more information. I think this museum is pretty worth the cost. It's on the National University of Singapore campus, and to get to the nearest MRT station (Kent Ridge), you have to take a campus bus to it. It's all very easy to navigate. Remember: you have to purchase your tickets online at sistic.com.sg, and you have to make an account with Sistic before you can buy them. For this particular museum, you also have to select a certain time block to go. They do this to prevent the museum from getting overcrowded at any one time. This museum is great for kids. Enjoy your visit!

Yelp
Interesting place located inside the unviersity, next to NUS museum. The place was covered 2 floors but felt that it was rather limited. There was guided tours at 11am, 1pm, 4pm. There was light shows on the dinosaur bones too. Take SBS bus service 96 from Clementi bus interchange, or SBS bus service 95 from Buona Vista MRT station to reach.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday during the school holidays, my friend paid about $16 per ticket. We came about 4pm, and it was moderately crowded, but as we spent about 2 hours within the museum, most of the crowd dispersed by then. The content within the museum is rather disorganized, but I don't think it is a major issue. I did like how they tried to use exhibits that were caught in Singapore/SEA, which emphasizes the local aspect for me, differentiating itself. The main attraction here are the dinosaur bones, which I was surprised at, because I thought the bones were replicas. Seems a steal, $16 to see real dinosaur bones in Singapore. Kids will like this place. P.S. Free parking within NUS on Sundays. You know what to do.
