Lee Ufan Museum

The artworks here are absolutely stunning. The way the sculptures integrate with the surrounding landscape is truly breathtaking — calm, poetic and powerful at the same time. One of the best things: no photos allowed. That means no influencers staging photos, no long lines, no noise, and no people walking around without paying attention. Just pure, uninterrupted art appreciation in a serene space. If you love contemporary art and want a museum experience that values presence over social media, this is a must-visit.

Thoughtfully minimal and meditative: Lee Ufan’s works paired with Ando’s architecture create a calming space to reflect.  The way light, space and nature are integrated is subtle but powerful — a place to slow down rather than rush through. If you appreciate less-is-more, this museum is a gem.

I usually have a conflict with conceptual art, because I always say I could do that similar yet I did not… So getting that out of the way, I really enjoyed this museum, it is worth a visit, I did not take more than 45 minutes during the whole museum, but I do think it is a must if you are on the island. I recommendation is to read up a little bit more of Lee Ufan to understand a bit of his artwork, I believe I would’ve enjoyed it more knowing a little bit about his use on mankind and the way he works. After going to his exhibition the next day, I decided to learn more about him and was amazed. The architecture of the building is beautiful, and also artwork of the museum. Many of his displays made me think and have an interesting dialogue with myself later on. I would return happily to this museum, knowing what I know, and looking at it with different eyes.

The reviews don't rate this museum highly, but I liked it here. It looked magnificent and majestic to me. So I recommend to visit. It is not necessary to buy tickets in advance, perhaps only because online they are with a smaller discount.

A museum resulting from the collaboration between artist Lee Ufan and architect Tadao Ando. Created from the bare minimum of elements, Lee Ufan’s works are deeply intertwined with the museum itself, which gently connects the inside and the outside.

Nice museum with both indoor and outdoor exhibitions. You can cycle to within 200 m of the entrance, then park your bike and continue on foot. The Valley Gallery is located right next door.

Great little art museum. Not much in the way of exhibits but worthwhile seeing for the architecture alone

Impressive architecture made by TADAO ANDO and inspiring, almost mystical pieces of art by LEE UFAN. The size of the museum is small, but this only adds more to the unique atmosphere. The entrance fee might appear over-priced, but if you are looking for a calming experience rather than a big exibition, you should visit the LEE UFAN MUSEUM!

The outdoor sculptures by the museum are excellent, the actually art in the Museum is disappointing and very limited. Stay outside and don't pay the overpriced admission is my advice. As usual with all the associated museums on the island - no photography... dumb Enjoy the nature and the long walks because the buses aren't coming for a long long long time. and bring snacks unless you want to pay up for museum related restaurant. lower your expectations

If you go into this thinking you are going to see tons of art work, you will be disappointed and you will likely give it 1 or 2 stars. But, if you recognize that it is a museum that was designed specifically to house a few selected works from one artist, you will be pleasantly surprised. Worth a visit - although you don't need to budget a load of time to appreciate both the space and the work inside.

Came to Naoshima for a day trip and did Benesse House, Chi Chu and Lee Ufan, in that order. I have to say, I want to support the arts, but this was my least favorite museum, possibly of all time. There is very little to see and I can't believe what I paid for admission. Please note, I am not an art enthusiast. Since you are already on the island, you might as well do it.
