The hotel is set in peaceful, quiet surroundings, and the historic building — a former monastery — is definitely the main attraction. The staff were polite and friendly, and they brought us an extra chair upon request, which we appreciated. However, the rooms are quite basic for the high price — just a small table and one stool for two guests. No mini fridge. No bath robes or slippers. The tv has only cable channels and no youtube/streaming services. In late May, the room felt a bit chilly, and we weren’t able to turn on the heating. The buffet breakfast was sufficient, but limited (compared to other hotels in The Netherlands for the same price) and not restocked during the last hour of service. At checkout, we were charged an extra €5 per person as a tourist tax, even though our booking said all taxes were included. Only card payment was accepted. Overall, I’d recommend this place to those specifically interested in staying in a historic building surrounded by nature. Otherwise, it feels overpriced for what it offers (the actual hotel facilities).

A very enjoyable one-night stay (en route eastwards, 70 mins drive from the ferry at Hoek van Holland). Plenty of staff around, at reception and elsewhere, some of whom not surprisingly not that clear on what they're supposed to be doing; more senior staff were very friendly and helpful. The place is a real labyrinth, taking us past the stunning chapel to get to our room, which was well-equipped and comfortable. We particularly enjoyed the stylish restaurant: excellent food, good value on the half-pension basis, and a great breakfast too. Easy parking, and only 10 mins drive from the city centre.

This is a lovely hotel, and we enjoyed our stay very much. It is a teaching hotel, that is, there are students in training there, so things might take a bit longer because they are learning the ropes, but as long as you budget a little bit of patience, this is a wonderful place to stay. The room was large and spacious with high ceilings, and of course the cloister setting is one of a kind. Highly recommended

The Leerhotel Het Klooser is an unusual hotel. ||The building is ugly, the inside is uninspiring and dated. All of which is perhaps not a surprise if monks used to live there. Next door is a conventional college along with a trainee catering college who work in the hotel. These trainee students make up a good percentage of the staff especially in relation to the catering. This is applaudable although they are a little dilatory at times. ||The main staff are excellent and very welcoming. The bar area wasn’t particularly functioning and the location of the hotel wasn’t nearly many places of interest. Especially if you are walking.||Tips:||In walking distance, if you want a nice bar and snacks then go through a nearby forest to the Fletcher Hotel. | |If you don’t want to lose 3 hours of your life in a drab environment, avoid the 4 course meal option.|

I spent 2 nights at this amazing hotel for a business conference. The hotel is a hospitality training college. All the people working there are the students and their tutors. |The food and amazing fancy treats prepared by young people training to be chefs and was lovely. |The rooms beautifully comfortable and contained everything you needed. |The conference facilities were very good. |It was all unique as it was formally a monastery.

Great hotel and restaurant run by students under supervision. Very interesting building which used to be a convent and now is a catering & hospitality college. Rooms are very well appointed. The restaurant serves a set 5 course dinner, again served and prepared by students, of very high quality and absolutely delicious. Excellent quality breakfast. Free ample parking. Recommended!

The hotel is part of a hotel school, so the (abundant) staff is a mix of students and teachers. Although obviously still learning, the students try hard and are very friendly. The old abbey is nicely preserved and turned into a modern hotel, with spacious rooms. Our clean room had comfortable beds and a spacious rather new bathroom with a bathtub, separate shower, two sinks and floor heating. Due to the old abbey walls the rooms are soundproof so it’s very peaceful. The breakfast is fresh, with different kinds of fresh breads, sweet rolls, granolas, fruit and eggs prepared on the spot. The young staff is a bit inexperienced so you have to be a bit assertive at times - we had to ask for coffee and tea at the breakfast because the waiter forgot, for example. They handle (kind) feedback very well so don’t be afraid to give it, after all they are learning. If you want a hotel that runs like a well-oiled machine this may not be the one for you, but if you understand the idea of the place you’ll have a very pleasant stay.

This is a former monestary and an amazing location. Students are here to cater for your every needs. Don't feel bad about giving constructive feedback. Nice rooms, clean. Good service and reasonably friendly students. They need to lean. It's ok :)
