Lehmann’s Herberge was a perfect base for exploring Grindelwald. The hosts were very welcoming and made our stay feel relaxed. The room was simple with a shared bathroom but had everything we needed - clean, comfortable, and just right after long days out. Location couldn’t be better, with easy access to trails and the town center. Great value and a cozy vibe.

A hostel with nice, spacious and clean rooms on walking distance from the Grindelwald railway station and the 'Firstbahn' cable car. Beautiful view on the surrounding mountains, you can almost touch the 'Eiger Nordwand'. A B&B where you recieve a warm welcome from Franzi and Marco. After waking up from one's sleep an excellent, sumptuous and carefully prepared breakfast is waiting, accompanied with a friendly smile and good morning from the hosts. We stayed here already a few times and it was always a pleasure. An excellent address that we highly recommend.

Stayed here for several days, just a quick 10 minute walk from the train station, very convenient location. Our room was in attic with two single beds. Cozy and clean.Free breakfast was good, bread, juices, coffee, tea, hard boiled egg, yogurt, cheese, salami/ham, etc. The woman/owner at the front desk was very nice and hospitable. I wish I could give 5 stars but the husband was really strict. He does not allow photos taken in the breakfast room. There is a sign actually stating this but if you missed it, he would say it right in your face in front of everybody. I wished he would just whisper it and not put you in the hot spot...Just a reminder to future guests.

Lovely, simple and clean rooms decorated with what looked to be family heirlooms that added a personal touch. Breathtaking views of the Eiger from the front porch, and even from the room windows! Nestled in the middle of town, this was a convenient walk to the Firstbahn and First gondola station, and reasonably close to Grindelwald/Grindelwald Terminal train stations, and to a wide variety of hiking trails. Marco and Fränzi were so friendly and helpful. The home-cooked breakfast was amazing, and the rooms are tidied daily, which is rare for a hostel. Other reviews mention there are many rules, but I don’t think those were unreasonable or difficult to follow. Overall, it’s clear that Marco and Fränzi have a real passion for hosting! Wish I could’ve stayed longer.

A wonderful destination! We have been coming here for several years. For us, Grindelwald ( and thus also Lehmans Herberge) marks the start of the ski season. We are always spoiled with a delicious breakfast and provided with a room offering a fantastic view. Franzi and Marco take great care of us and our room(s)—what more could we ask for? We are already looking forward to next year! Els from Belgium

It’s a shame I can’t rate this higher because this is such a wonderful accommodation, but I can’t in good conscience recommend anyone put themselves in the crosshairs of aggressive and violent behavior. However, the host is trigger happy making our stay incredibly scary. He didn’t even greet us before yelling at me for 15 min when we arrived for checkin. He came up the stairs yelling at me saying “you people” “your country” “respectless” “can’t believe how rude” “can’t believe you rang the door twice” “respectless behavior” “in Switzerland we would never” on repeat at max volume. I immediately apologized after his first sentence, but that didn’t spare me from 15 min of screaming. He lectures people about “respectless” behavior, but in fact, attacking people for completely normal behavior and continuing to attack after an apology has been issued, shows just how unhinged and “respectless” he is himself. Reading other reviews, it’s not surprising that many guests have pointed to his explosive behavior as a persistent issue. Looking at the irate replies he leaves, it’s clear he refuses to take any accountability for his hostility, is incredibly disrespectful to guests, and has a history of initiating condescending verbal attacks. I hope this changes.

I had a wonderful stay at this place. The lodging was only a 10 minutes walk from Grindelwald station and surrounded by many restaurants, shops and hotels. My room was facing the back so we had a very good mountain view. The rooms were clean and had the necessary amenities like hairdryer. The toilet looks newly renovated and was very clean. I enjoyed the cozy atmosphere of this place and the friendly hosts. Would highly recommend booking this place!

Was a little bit anxious at first due to the multiple reviews about the owner being “rude”. After staying here, I realized that the people who have rated this place low are WELL below the average iq and probably didn’t have the aptitude to finish elementary school. The owners are very hospitable and just ask that you follow VERY FEW of their rules (no noise after 10, check out time, remove snow shoes before going in the room, etc). Great breakfast, clean rooms, and when you get back to the hostel by the end of the day, it’s been tidied up. I had a great experience staying here and hope this helps anyone else looking for a hostel in Grindelwald. Picture is the view from right outside the hostel AMAZING
