Leisure Inn Penny Royal, Launceston

The Penny Royal Inn was simply incredible. When you walk in and feel that rustic, charming atmosphere that reverberates through the walls, you know that you've made a good choice coming here. We stayed in the George Suite, which was clean, comfortable, historic feeling and overall wonderful. When we went down for dinner, the staff at the inn were incredibly nice and welcoming, and the food was delicious beyond compare. One big plus is that your only about 140m from the Penny Royal adventure park, which is amazing. Overall, this hotel had great rooms, great food and service and a great destination just a short walk away. This motel is a must if you're stopping in Launceston.

The place is clean, modern, and has a nice vibe. Unfortunately, the noise levels are quite high — you can easily hear showers, flushing, and conversations from other rooms. It’s fine if you don’t mind using earplugs, but if you’re looking for a quiet rest, it might not be the best choice. With better soundproofing, it could be an excellent stay.

Lots of things being done right. Staff are so accommodating. I like their system of messaging customers when the room is ready for check in. Very pretty at night. Just a few things for quality improvement, It can be very noisy from other guests at night. More emphasis on respecting other guests after 9pm would be great. Or perhaps spreading guests out more. I'm not sure if it's a sewage issue or something else, but when I arrived, the room didn't smell fresh, like someone had just gone to the bathroom. The smell lingered the whole stay. (3 nights) Lastly, the shower was very difficult to figure out. Hot and cold water can't be used simultaneously. Turning the cold on turns the hot off. Maybe some signs up for how to work it would be beneficial.

Very convenient for the Gorge and a short walk to the cbd. Loved the cleanliness and space. Our kids loved it all. Great facilities and full of character. The adventure park was very worthwhile and a nice break from the road trip round Tasmania.

It has character but is pretty tired. The bathroom sink is too small to fit the kettle in under the tap, I mentioned it when I left and they said that there was a jug beside the kettle under the tv cabinet to decant water into the kettle. Wish I had been told about that at the start. Parking is available with a complementary ticket to display, but most spaces were full at night with other patrons from the restaurant. I had to move the car closer in the morning. Must have been close to some machinery because was very noisy. They did provide free ear plugs though and the staff were nice.

Big room, very comfortable mattress, excellent quality linen and thick white bath towels! ||||On site parking (free), on site heritage listed pub and restaurant was very convenient and offered a great beer selection, good food and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. ||||Just a short walk into the centre of town and great restaurants nearby.

Unbelievable service. Close to all facilities. The hotel presentation is sensational. I loved the history attached and they have kept the history alive with how the rooms are furnished. My only complaint, was I couldn't stay longer as my holiday was at its conclusion. Best hotel, I have ever stayed in.

stayed here on an overnight trip to Launceston. Friendly service at check in. We had queen room which was small but quaint, and well priced. Good shower pressure and comfortable bed. The property has two parts with rooms next to the Penny Royal Adventures. There is a bar and restaurant on-site too. Cataract Gorge is right next to place and worth a look when staying here. This is also a good place for families. Would stay here again when in Launceston.
