Leman Locke Aldgate

Excellent location. Easy walking to Spitalfields, Brick Lane, Tower of London, Tower Bridge, St Catherine’s docks, etc etc. Aldgate East underground is steps away. We stayed in a one bedroom twin. The room configuration was great for my sister and I. Enjoyed the kitchen and kettle for morning coffee and breakfast. We felt safe and our room was very quiet. Only cons were dim lighting, no exhaust fan in bathroom, sectional is very low and stained, and for long stays a broom/dustpan would be nice. We would definitely stay again.

We had a great stay for six nights at the Lehman Locke serviced apartments. We had a studio on the third floor and everything was perfect. I’m really surprised to see so many negative reviews. My son and I stayed for six nights and couldn’t have asked for a better spot. We had everything we needed, including a refrigerator, stovetop, oven, washer/dryer and dishwasher. It’s close to a grocery store, many restaurants and steps from the Aldgate tube station. It had everything that we needed for our stay and I would definitely recommend staying there again. The staff was friendly and accommodating and always got us anything that we needed like toilet paper and clothes washing detergent. I loved my stay there.

The location is good, only about a five-minute walk from Aldgate East underground station. On closer inspection, however, my room felt a bit worn and looked nicer in the photos than it did in reality. The reception staff were very friendly, and the café directly on the ground floor is definitely a plus. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the cleanliness, especially in the bathroom. There was an unpleasant smell coming from the drains throughout my stay. I also found long black hairs on the floor, in the shower, and on the sofa. In the bathroom, a lady shaver from a previous guest was left on the shelf, and both the sink and the shower appeared to have been only superficially cleaned. I used the kitchen to prepare dinner. The equipment is very basic, but sufficient for making small meals. I did miss having dish soap, as I was forced to use the dishwasher for just one pot, one plate, and one fork, since I didn’t want to wash them with water only. I have previously stayed at a Locke apartment in Dublin, which was significantly cleaner and probably newer. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I don’t think I would stay here again.

We loved our stay at Leman Locke!! Our room definitely got upgraded as we booked the studio but I think we got the 1 bedroom suite which was a lovely surprise 😁 The staff were amazing, the place was spacious and clean and the amenities were great. The only thing I would improve is that the casting wasn’t great on the TV so we couldn’t use it very easily.

We had such a great stay here! The location couldn’t have been better, just a very short walk to the train station which made getting around so easy. We grabbed coffee from the cafe downstairs every morning. Loved having a washing machine in the room too, such a bonus when you’re travelling. The shower was awesome with great water pressure. Ras was lovely and really helpful, especially when organising a late check-out for us. Would definitely stay again!

One of the worst hotel experiences I have had. As mentioned in other reviews, some rooms have a strong sewage smell. I reported this to the staff and was told maintenance would come, but no one showed up. Later that night I was moved to an accessible room. The room is clearly very well designed for guests using a wheelchair, with everything thoughtfully placed and easy to reach. For someone who does not need those features, however, the very low mirrors, sinks, and surfaces made the room quite impractical to use. The issues did not stop there. I was later asked to come to reception to pay for two extra nights that I never booked and I had to spend time explaining and providing evidence of what I had and had not reserved. When I asked what could be done to compensate for all this inconvenience, I was told I would not be charged for the room change, as if that would have been reasonable in the first place. The room was described as an upgrade because it was larger, despite being uncomfortable for the reasons explained above. On top of this, the hotel is very worn and poorly maintained. The couch was so dirty that I did not feel comfortable putting anything on it. This was the case in both rooms I stayed in, and it is clearly visible in the photos. I would stay away both because of the service as well as the condition of the actual rooms. It must have been good when new but today it's truly too worn.

I booked and paid for the highest-tier luxury apartment at Leman Locke for a long-term stay, based on the amenities clearly advertised on their website — including air conditioning and the promise of offering “more than just a place to sleep.” Unfortunately, the AC did not work for the majority of my stay. I reported the issue immediately after check-in and was moved across four different rooms, with requests to move to a fifth. The AC failed in every room I was placed in, strongly suggesting a building-wide issue. As a result, I was unable to sleep for extended periods, with room temperatures around 25°C and poor air circulation. Repeated room changes were extremely difficult during a long stay, especially with only one functioning elevator. During these forced moves, I even lost important medication. At one point, I was placed in a room significantly smaller than what I originally booked and paid for. During my stay, I also personally witnessed other guests arguing with the front desk about similar issues, which reinforced the impression that this was not an isolated incident. I made multiple attempts to resolve this directly with the property and management. While a partial refund was offered, it did not reasonably reflect the duration or severity of the issues. I am sharing this review so future guests are aware. Basic amenities that are explicitly promised — especially air conditioning — should be reliably provided, particularly for premium, long-term bookings.

Clean, comfortable studio room. Very convenient London location. Disliked · I'd score 5 if it wasn't for three things. These are all easily fixable and would make a big difference to your guests: 1) Only one lift, out of two, was working for 21 floors. 2) No wifi - had to try those of neighbouring rooms (was sent a list of these via WhatsApp when trying to sort this out - most didn't work) 3) Door keys disabled and/or door lock battery ran out, so we were unable to get back in to room to leave for train in the morning. Nearly missed it...

This was a nice surprise in the Whitechapel neighbourhood of London. Our apartment had a great layout and had everything needed for a comfortable experience. We found plenty of food options nearby including the famous Brick Lane indian food district (Meraz and Muhib were both lovely). Nearby, Peter's Cafe had great breakfast at reasonable prices. Even though the kitchen had all the appliances possible including a dishwasher and laundry machine, we did not use them because we ate out the entire time. We only had one minor complaint: the front door to the building is closed after 3:30 pm, making it confusing for new visitors to find the hotel lobby.

Location was great. Very close to underground. Many food and grocery stores nearby. There was a weird smell in the bathroom. Humidity was around 46%. So, it couldn't have been mold. Make sure you don't forget anything. We left a hat there. It was inexpensive. Housekeeping said they didn't find anything. Right. The main reason we stay at Locke hotels is because they have in-room washer/dryer. I generally like their decor. The pink sofa has to go. It gets dirty easily. The main drawback was the slow elevator. It was always busy with other guests or we had to ride with a staff member with their carts. Wish we had booked a lower floor so we could have walked downstairs.

DO NOT STAY HERE. Deeply concerning health and safety conditions regarding black mold. This hotel is not clean or safe to stay in Within minutes of entering the room, we noticed significant water staining on the couch upholstery. In the bathroom, the ceiling was covered with visible black spotting that appears to be mold, including around air vents, lighting fixtures, and the edges where it met the walls. We left immediately and reported the issue to the booking agent. This room should not have been offered to guests in its current condition. --- Additional note to this. Both the hotel and booking.com are refusing to refund the hotel charges, despite the fact that we left the room within five minutes. We will be reporting this to Health and Safety.

Cozy little apartment on the 20th floor in a great neighborhood in London . I can see our underground stop from my window and that is one of the best things. ( having the tube so close). Clean and great shower. Kitchen allowed us to easily have takeout a few nights. I think the interior lighting could be better but that's a small detail. Smart tv. We also saw fireworks from our window a few times. I love the neighborhood-- lots of grocery stores, restaurants etc I'd say, reserve a room on a high floor if you can. Both a coffee shop and a cocktail bar are here too.

Stayed here the other night and it was a decent experience, with numerous details that were missing the point... Booked direct and my apartment was ready upon arrival. There was an additional promo for booking direct in addition to early check-in and late check-out available. If there was an interest in modifying one's direct booking, a "chat" has to be made with the property, instead of self-managing via the portal. Managed to do an online check-in to expedite the on-property process. My credit card was charged for the entire stay the morning of arrival, including a receipt in my inbox. Leman Locke is located within a couple minutes from the Algate East underground station, at the edge of Zone 1. Upon arrival, I noticed a self-checkin kiosk which I was able to get my key digitally. I noticed that the kiosk was later frozen later in the evening... The property has a hipster coffee shop on the main floor along with an izakaya on the first floor. There are 2 lifts that service the 22 floor building which meant that there was sometimes a slight wait for the lift. Despite being assigned an apartment next to the elevator, there were no elevator sounds throughout the evening, although I did hear my neighbor downstairs wake up and open their door at 5 am. The apartment itself was modern including a washer/dryer, electric plate, hood, microwave, dishwasher, and fridge. The kitchen was bright. In individualized thermostat including air conditioning was great. Details within the apartment were missing, including 3 burnt out lights in the living area making it super dark to work/read at night, caulking that needed to be resealed on the bathroom sink, outlet that didn't work underneath the TV, mattress that was starting to wear out, along with a handheld shower that was leaking... The door also doesn't have a latch from the inside, merely a deadbolt. The bathroom was modern and the shower had great water pressure. The provided soaps, body wash, and shampoos were all great. There were no facial tissues inside the bathroom though...

They offer you a discount if you sign up for their membership. The membership is free. I did pay for the extra no change fee option. It wasn't that much more. I'm glad I did because I booked the hotel one day too early and they were able to refund me that day. I arrived around 2:30 PM. I did have an early check in with my membership status. My room was ready. I stayed in room 808. It was spacious and big enough for three of us. The room had two beds but I was able to get a rollaway bed. The couch is actually a good size and someone could have slept there if they did not have the rollaway bed. Check in was easy. The day before they send you a check in email. They also text me to ask me questions regarding my check in. Once you arrive, you go to the front desk to pick up your keys. There is someone at the front desk 24/7, but the times that we were there, and we tried to get a hold of them, it was a little difficult. I could never get a hold of them via phone and sometimes they were not at the front desk. The beds were comfortable. They do have USB ports next to your bed to plug in your devices. The room has a good size closet space. They also have a safe in the room. There's a TV in the room and in the living room. The living room and kitchen are in one larger room. The kitchen is fully equipped. You just have to look around for the stuff because they are not in plain view. The washer and dryer are two in one. I had never seen something like that. It was kind of interesting. it was just difficult to figure out how to use. At one point our clothes dried for two hours. They do have some laundry detergent in the room. They also have dishwashing detergent. There was also a fridge, microwave and oven. They do have coffee and tea available. The restroom is spacious. It has a tub and shower. You have a showerhead and a detachable attachment. The only thing is that the tub high to step into. They also didn't have any slip mats and the tub was a little slick. It is definitely not for anyone that has any physical limitations. The toiletries included shampoo, conditioner and body wash. They don't have daily housekeeping. They go once per week. If you want any extras, you can get them downstairs. We had a lot of trash and they told us to take it downstairs. For what we are paying and for this place to be considered a hotel, I would expect at least door side trash pick up. This hotel is located near three subway entrances. It's about a two minute walk to the Aldgate East station. To get there from the airport, you only have to switch subway trains once. It was actually pretty easy. There's plenty of great restaurants nearby. All walking distance. For those wanting good fish and chips, Poppies is a 10 min walk from the hotel. There's a coffee shop and restaurant in the building too. I didn't use their gym, but they have one. There's a small convenience store nearby as well Overall, I did enjoy my stay here. I would definitely use this hotel chain again

For the most part our stay was pretty decent. Pros: The room size was large The view from outside the window was nice. Conveniently located near multiple stations and many local restaurants and stores. Cons: I had booked a king sized bed, but it was fairly small. The washer/dryer unit didn't work properly when we arrived. It was fixed, but the dryer takes hours and hours to dry properly. The last night we were there we lost hot water and our AC stopped working. They said they were going to give me a partial refund for the last night, but my bill was for the full amount when checking out. Maintenance is only available from 9 to 5, so they couldn't fix it. The bathroom sink clogged often. For most of the visit, there was only one working elevator. Overall, we really enjoyed our visit. It was just a lot of small things that added up and I would probably not stay here again.

I hadn't been to London since 1985 and was looking forward to a second visit. I prefer apart-hotels now since I usually stay at least a week when I visit a city, but London accommodations are expensive compared to many places in Europe like Lisbon, Madrid & Prague where I have enjoyed Airbnb's or apart-hotels at very reasonable rates. It took awhile to find a place in a central location that met my needs at a relatively reasonable rate. When I found Leman Locke online I was impressed by the photos and descriptions of the rooms. The Aldgate area seemed to be a central location too, so I gave it a try. When I arrived I found that it was everything I'd hoped it would be, but better. The front desk staff was extremely friendly and eager to please. The room was very comfortable for a long stay. Things like the quality of the bedding, fluffy bath towels and even better than average TP make a big difference. Having access to a washer/dryer is essential for traveling light and my room included this as well as a good kitchenette. The Aldgate hood was great too. There were many good eateries and grocery stores. There is an Amazon Fresh nearby where I stocked-up regularly. I really felt at home there. Also, there is a tube station only a block away and you can get around town quickly. All things considered, I found this hotel to be well worth the price for London and I plan to return soon.

This place was superb. Big clean new apartment, wonderful hair products. There was a dishwasher and laundry machine in the apartment. the bathroom was spacious and the mirror had a defogger on it (nice touch). Bed was very comfortable, 4 pillows, and the place was very reasonably priced (for london). The restaurant downstairs was superb too. Their 2 course dinner with wine for 22 pounds was a steal! will be back issue for sure

Such a fantastic experience at this chic hotel! Not only did we have fantastic service by Fateha at the reception, our accommodations were perfect! The room (which is actually an apartment) is quite spacious and came complete with kitchenette and USB charging ports; also a stunning view of London! It's terrible shame that we will only be able to stay at this hotel one night! Would I come again? In a heartbeat!

My husband and I stayed at the Leman Locke for a full week--It really is a lovely place. The rooms are decorated in a Scandinavian style--think Ikea on steroids. Everything in the room makes good design and space-saving sense. The room is set up like an apartment--complete with washer/dryer (I went home with clean clothes!), kitchenette (My husband is a late night snacker so this came in handy)dishware and cutlery for 4--just nicely appointed. We found the staff to be helpful and welcoming. Being located near the Aldgate East tube station was a great bonus--I didn't have to worry about finding my way to the tube it's right there! Also, they are located within walking distance to Tower Bridge and Tower of London. I had coffee everyday form the coffee bar downstairs great coffee and good grab and go breakfast foods with really nice people staffing the counter. Few things--the housekeeping schedule was so strange to me. They don't come everyday more like every 3 days which would be fine, but the rubbish bin in the bathroom is TINY--I needed mine changed at least every 2 days. If you're only going to toss it every 3 days then perhaps it should be bigger. The amenities (especially soap) are not replenished--I always travel with my own but my husband objected to smelling like lavender--and would have been happier with less feminine smelling soap. Also--the half door on the shower stall is a terrible idea--the floor gets soaked right away leaving it unpleasant for the next person coming in. Lastly, I wish the light switches were labeled I kept flicking things on and off. All in all it was a great place--would recommend and stay again.

I hate to admit sometimes that I'm an American - mostly because of our current political climate, but that's besides the point. I tend to think that I'm super open minded and could be European, but I was in for a culture shock upon my first trip overseas. The biggest adjustment for me was the hotel room sizes. I live in Chicago so we are definitely spread thin on space, but Europe is a whole new story. I researched for months for different hotels - I wanted something nice for our honeymoon but also didn't want to pay $1000 to get something with more than a few square feet of space. Also, not a lot of London hotels have windows? More adjustments for me. I kept coming back to Leman Locke time after time even though I wanted something more centrally located. I decided to risk it anyway after seeing all of the positive reviews. Leman Locke far surpassed my expectations! The hotel itself is absolutely gorgeous in a mid-century modern way. Our room was huge! When we arrived, the staff had left us a bottle of wine to celebrate our honeymoon. I upgraded us to the top floor and we had floor to ceiling windows with views of the city. We had a kitchen fully equipped (not that we used it though), a washer/dryer and some of the best bath amenities I've ever had (caramel sea salt shampoo - London, you spoil me). The location was perfect, within walking distance of Aldgate and Aldgate East stations, grocery stores, restaurants, and a quick stroll to the tower of London. I actually am grateful I didn't book near the Picadily Circus area, where I was originally looking, because it was mass chaos. Also, our barista every morning was awesome and made some pretty strong beverages which was much needed with the time change. I fell in love with London in a heartbeat, and Leman Locke had quite a bit to do with that.

Great spot to stay in East London! Updated and fully renovated flats in a very central location of London. Right around the corner from The Tower of London and the Tower Bridge. Very handy flats with everything you could possibly need for your stay. Pierre in reception was extremely helpful and courteous. I would recommend Leman Locke to anyone traveling to downtown London.

Great location! Rooms are minimalist-style room/apartments. Plenty of kitchen space and fridge, microwave, stovetop. Bed was comfortable and clean. Cute pink wool couch. The bathroom was nice too except that 3 out of 4 days there was a smell coming up from shower drain. It would improve after running water into drain but the smell was disturbing at first. Super convenient tube stop across the street. Plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance. Other than the shower drain I'm happy with stay. I have another favourite apartment-style hotel in London I stay in when it's available. I'll definitely book there first but would stay at Leman Locke again.

Really lovely hotel! Made all the better by the fact that it was significantly cheaper than its peer hotels, without compromising quality or coolness. The rooms were very spacious for a hotel in a city center, and beautifully decorated. Our own washer/dryer was very much welcome and a novelty for this NYer. Bed was incredible comfortable, and the room was perfectly spotless. The downstairs coffee shop was adorable, and staff was helpful and friendly. My only real issue was the fact that the public areas are so heavily scented that when I walked in initially, jetlagged and with a bad headache from the plane air, it made me feel sick. Luckily it was not detectable in the room, otherwise I don't think I could have stayed. I'd also add that the gym was not up to par with the rest of the hotel. The immediate area is not particularly cute and feels very business-y, but it's easily walkable to Shoreditch, Hoxton, Spitalfields Market, etc. Taking public transport was easy. All in all, so happy we chose this over comparable hotels like the Hoxton and the Ace. I would return here, absolutely no hesitations.

This is nice hotel and is in a awesome location. You are surrounded by restaurants and so many things are in walking distance. If you don't want to walk, the metro station is literally like a 4 minute walk away. As you walk in you'll noticed that there is a restaurant attached to the hotel as well so if you don't want to leave to eat, you have that option as well. The staff was very nice and friendly and explained all the amenities well. They also have us two free drink tickets. Even though you can only use them for about 4 drinks , free liquor is free liquor. We booked a sky level suite and it was a bit smaller than expected. The pictures on the website make it seem bigger than it is. Even though it was a bit small the bed was very comfortable and it was nice to have a mini kitchen if you wanted to cook although there were no napkins or kitchen towels which is silly. DOWNSIDE: the teeny, tiny couch is made of the worst fabric to ever touch my body. It feels like 100 year old rat hair that was dyed and left in the sun for another 100 years then was chewed up and spit out by 100 camels and sewn together. I seriously couldn't even sit on it, it was so scratchy. I had to take the blanket from the bed and lay it on the couch to use it. Another con, there is no room to lay out your luggage anywhere without it being in a walkway. All in all it was good but I wouldn't stay longer then a few days personally.

We just stayed at Leman Locke for 3 nights and had an amazing experience. This is an apartment hotel, which means it's more like staying at an AirBnB, but without the hassle of having to set a meeting time to get keys or worrying about staying at a questionable place that looks better in pics than it looks in person. Leman Locke is literally across the street and a minute walk down the street from Aldgate East tube stop. This makes it SO convenient when you're visiting London as you aren't wasting so much time just getting to the tube station. It's also within walking distance to Spitalfields Market, Brick Lane, Whitechapel, and also not too long of a walk to the Tower of London. The "apartment' was decorated in a super cute & clean Scandinavian style. I think all the rooms have their signature pink sectional couch which was really cute. We had a room with a living room and separate bedroom. Both rooms had huge windows with a view of London. The apartment also comes complete with a full kitchen (fridge, microwave, two burner stove, oven, hot water kettle, and even a dishwasher!)....but that's not all! They also have a combo washer/dryer for doing laundry! This was such a nice bonus since we had traveled to Belgium the week before and it was so nice to be able to wash our clothes. (And in case you're wondering, they DO provide laundry detergent for you!) We had a little confusion trying to figure out some of the appliances since they are different than what we are used to in the States, but they do provide guides to help you and also have staff 24 hrs a day in case you need to ask for help. Our Leman Locke kitchen came stocked with utensils, dishes, glasses, mugs, pots and pans to prepare a meal for about 4 people. They even provided a few packets of tea and coffee. Our room even had two flat screen TVs (one in each room)! Of course, there's also free Wifi and great cable TV channels. The bathroom was huge (toiletries were also provided) and we literally wanted to move in. Honestly, the only thing we found we needed that wasn't provided in the room were paper towels. We kept dropping crumbs and kept reaching for paper towels that weren't there. Hopefully, they'll start providing them in the future! On the first and second floor they also have a coffee bar/drinking bar/restaurant. We didn't get anything from there, but it is very convenient if you need a good coffee or pastry in the morning.
