Lemon Hill Mansion

The Mansion is not open year round for visitors, but the grounds surrounding it are open every day of the year and the park offers plenty of places to throw down a blanket or pop up a chair and picnic, read a book, enjoy nature, or walk along the trails that dot the park north and south of the mansion. The hill to the SE towards Kelly Drive and the end/start of Boathouse Row offers one of the top five public viewing points of the city's skyline. Definitely worth checking out if you plan on being in the area - even just for a few minutes. Highly recommend for sunset and nighttime photos of the city.

I enjoyed the guided tour of the Lemon Hill Mansion. The tour guide, Alex, provided a very interesting and informative tour of the house and its prior inhabitants. Although, it was a rainy day, the views from the house were still pretty nice, as well.

The Lemon Hill mansion, built in 1800, has been extensively renovated and just reopened to the public in 2023. The land's original owner, Robert Morris, was a founding father who built a greenhouse growing lemons there in the18th century. The mansion is now managed by the Fairmount Park Conservancy . It is open to the public for special events. In December, they decorate the mansion to celebrate holiday traditions around the world. When we visited, there were gorgeous decorated trees and whole rooms celebrating Christmas in Ukraine, Sweden, Mexico and more. There is free parking in the lot and along the road leading to the entrance.

It locate on the top of mountain near water works and museum of art in Philadelpia. Specially from the spring to Fall present beautiful color of nature with city view.

Wow... Parks and rec in philly is top notch... I am working for home brew events that did the pop up ice bar... Incredible... They are so friendly the guests were amazing the mansion is awesome and care taker Dave is my spirit animal... I really hope this becomes a winner thing every year...

I finally got to see the inside of Lemon Hill Mansion for a holiday event (Seamarket for FDR park hosted a pop up which was very cool) It’s such an impressive Federalist home. My favorite part are the 3 oval parlors, complete with curved fireplaces, doors and windows. Fairmount park conservatory is doing some really cool stuff, can’t wait to see more!

Mansion is pretty and there is a lot of work to restore. However if you visit any tike except christmas, it's empty and nothing to see besides empty walls...

Lemon HIll is a perfect place to go when you get sick of Kelly Drive, and don't have the heart to go for a long extended run. It's a stone's throw from Fairmount and Art Museum, and if you are in the mood to just hang out with your sweetheart, it's a great place for walking and relaxing. Much quieter and secluded from the bustle of Kelly Dr. If you get a chance, run up Lemon Hill, then keep going - if you can mapquest your course, there is a nice loop that will eventually take you back on the path to Kelly Dr., and all in all it's a nice little 5+ mile loop. When I was in college, I took a class on Fairmount Park (yay, liberal arts)... and ended up here. This is a scenic, beautiful revolutionary mansion that has amazing artifacts, and sits on the oldest, old money hill in Philly. It's amazing, if you get a tour guide, what they can tell you about the city back then. It's not a high-octane site... but for slower paced history, art, and civic lovers, this is an oft overlooked place to spend a sunny afternoon.

I live nearby and wandered in one day. It's a beautiful house full of beautiful things and lots of Philadelphia history. There are great views of the city and the Schuylkill. I thoroughly enjoyed spending the afternoon checking the place out, chatting with the knowledgeable person working there, and taking pictures of the place. If you're into history, Philadelphia history, architecture, or antiques it is well worth a visit!

Let me start with I've never been insider nor toured this place. I've only enjoyed the grounds. The annual Out and Back Party run has its after party at Lemon Hill. They have a big white tent, a live band and beer for the runners. Great space, easy to get too and a lot of parking. Works well for the event.

Very unfriendly staff. People much more hospitable and welcoming in the other historic houses on Fairmount.
