33 Places Famous for the Scandals That Occurred There

"The story of the Lemp Mansion runs hand-in-hand with the story of German immigration and beer brewing in St. Louis. Johann “Adam” Lemp, a German immigrant, moved to St. Louis in 1838 and set up a grocery store in South St. Louis. By 1840 he was focusing primarily on brewing and selling beer. He formed Western Brewery, one of the first breweries to produce German Lager in the United States, at 37 South Second Street (where the south leg of the Arch now stands). Adam’s son, William J. Lemp, took over Western Brewery after serving as an  Orderly (First)  Sergeant for the Union in the American Civil War. Under William, the brewery grew to be the largest in St. Louis and the largest outside of New York with a single owner. William “Billy” J. Lemp Jr., William Sr.’s first son, followed the same educational path as his father, however it was William Sr.’s fourth son, Frederick, born in 1873, whom William Sr. hoped to groom to run the company. In 1876, William and his wife, Julia, moved into the Lemp Mansion (built in 1868). William changed the company to William J. Lemp brewing company in 1892 with his son William Jr. as Vice-President and his son Louis as Superintendent. It was now a family affair. Unknown to the Lemp family, Frederick had significant health problems, and in 1901 Frederick died of heart failure. William Sr. became despondent and slowly deteriorated mentally and psychologically until he committed suicide by shotgun on February 13, 1904. Billy took over after his father’s death. His wife filed for divorce in 1908 charging Billy with desertion, cruel treatment, and other indignities. Billy was only granted visitation rights for their only son, William III. The company began to slide after prohibition, eventually shutting down and being auctioned for a minuscule fraction of its original worth. On December 29, 1922, Billy Lemp shot himself in his office. Today that office is the dining room of the mansion. William Sr.’s youngest child, Elsa Lemp Wright, married Thomas Wright in 1910 and filed for divorce in 1919. They reconciled and were remarried in 1920, but she shot herself while in bed on March 20. Charles Lemp, William Sr.’s third son, moved into the mansion in 1929. On April, 1941, Charles Lemp sent a letter to a south St. Louis funeral home requesting that in case of his death, his remains should be taken by ambulance to the Missouri Crematory. His body should not be bathed, clothed, or changed. His ashes should be put into a wicker box and buried on his farm. There were to be no funeral held or a notice put in the papers. On May 10, 1949 he shot his dog, then himself in the head, leaving the following note: “St. Louis Mo/May 9, 1949, In case I am found dead blame it on no one but me. Ch. A. Lemp”. That was the only suicide note in the family’s history. Edwin Lemp, the only remaining child of William Sr. (Louis died of natural causes in 1931), never moved back into the mansion. Edwin died in 1970 at age 90. His final order to his caretaker was to destroy his art collection and family heirlooms. Today, the Lemp Mansion has been made into a restaurant and inn by the Pointer family and offers tours (historical and haunted), murder mystery dinner theatre, and Halloween parties." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

I haven't been to the Lemp Mansion for a while and went with a friend from out of town. It's a beautiful place, very historic. You can go for ghost tours or regular tours, or you can spend the night. We were just having dinner. Or waiter was very knowledgeable and attentive, and the food was delicious. They have changed their menu so that there are more items available to order, which is nice. The wine was very good as well. Looks like they have some really nice cocktails, maybe next time. I would definitely recommend, not only for the food but just to look around. I've spent the night there several times as well, and really enjoyed it. The staff leaves at night, and you can roam the entire house.

Google
Amazing food. Amazing atmosphere. A family favorite for the youngest to the oldest. The best part is getting to tour the house when you're done eating. The servers are amazing and fun to interact with and know so much about the houses history 😀

We had a wonderful time learning about the history. It was such a beautiful mansion. We wanted to celebrate my husband's Birthday. The food was outstanding and the staff made us feel very welcome. Once we finished dinner, we went on their ghost tour and got to see more of the mansion. What a day!

Google
This is probably the fifth time we've eaten the "Sunday Fried Chicken Dinner". Once again it was delicious. The name will really fool you because you're served so much more than just Fried chicken. It's delicious and reminiscent of a holiday meal. You're served fresh fried chicken, pineapple baked ham, roast, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, string beans, coleslaw, cucumber-tomato salad, stewed apples, macaroni and cheese plus dinner rolls and biscuits. To top it off, it's all you can it. This isn't crappy food by any means. It's fresh, great quality and delicious. The servers are so great also. It's really interesting learning the history and spooky tales of The Lemp Mansion as well. Give it a try. It's definitely worth it.

Haven't stayed here but am helping plan my friends wedding. We spoke to Patty and she was the most delightful host I've ever spoken to! Upfront about pricing, no hidden anything to speak of, and sincerely just a wonderful person to speak to. It's safe to say they will be having the wedding there if not just because of Patty selling us!

Google
Dinner was excellent, both the food and the service. We didn't realize, though, that the entire staff leaves for the night. We stayed in the Elsa room, which is supposedly the most haunted, but had no experiences there. We did encounter some paranormal activity on the first floor after hours, though, in what used to be William's office. All in all, a great time!

I kid you not, every person there looked like they hated their lives. And acted like it to. The food wasn’t great.. French onion soup was literal gravy consistency. We left after aps. Wouldn’t be back, at least the spooky vibe was nice.

Google
We had an absolute blast!! The mansion itself is so beautiful and full of history. Each room has a placard beside by the door that gives details of that room. We didn't have any extreme paranormal things happen but there's definitely some unnerving spots in the mansion. The entire 3rd floor is creepy and so is the Charles Lemp room. When we were eating dinner in the Lavender Suite we were asking questions and 2 bulbs in the chandelier blew out then not even half an hour later one of them came back on!! I don't think there's anything evil there just a few curious ghosts. I highly recommend going as a group and renting the whole mansion we definitely plan on going again!!

Yelp
I've been to the Lemp a couple times for drinks, but enjoyed my first dinner there recently, This place has such fun vibes.... Always enjoy the quirky, friendly atmosphere, but I loved how our dinner felt like such a wonderful dining experience. Attentive service from Matt really made it. Don't sleep on the Toasted Ravioli (my new favorite in the city), or the Steak Manhattan, which was perfectly cooked. We even had the bananas foster flambé and a glass of port for dessert. We didn't see any ghosts, but we'll be back again, so maybe next time!

Yelp
1st visit and invited for Sunday Dinner. Wow, your eyes gwt big watching the bowls come out as they serve the table family style. Cucumber Salad, Cole Slaw, Apples, Fried Chicken, Green Beans, Mac n Cheese, Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Roast Beef, Dinner rolls! They keep it coming! What I had was seasoned well and very enjoyable food for the soul. You may need to unbutton that top button! Service was friendly and attentive.

Yelp
This is kind of a 3.5 rating (still wish yelp would allow a half star rating) of our recent visit. It's been years, but it's just not a place to get a quick meal. We were there for almost 3 hours. The food took a long time to be ordered and delivered and the check took some time to get to us as well. We didn't mind because we had good company visiting. There was a Cajun steak tips appetizer special that was incredible. They honestly need to add it to their permanent menu. I had the broiled cod. I don't recommend. It was watery, no flavor, and extremely underwhelming. My partner had the shrimp po boy. It was pretty tasty but for $25, is pretty pricey. The lights were on and off throughout the night--I chalked it up to the fact that it's "haunted". I didn't mind but the table next to us was very upset.

Yelp
We celebrated a family birthday at the Lemp Mansion Restaurant for their Sunday all you can eat fried chicken dinner. Was it ever good! The food is served family style, so you pass it around the table like the good old days. The chicken was moist inside, crispy outside and delicious. The country gravy was just like my grandma used to make....really good! Since you are in a historic building (rumored to be haunted), the decor is also historic and you feel very comfortable there. The service was efficient and friendly. We did have reservations for our party of six.

Yelp
After a hellish day at work, I knew exactly where I needed to be: the Lemp Mansion for a much-needed cocktail. My go-to? The Lavender Lady, of course. It's the perfect mix of refreshing and indulgent, and after a day like today, I couldn't resist. I let my lovely gentleman know I was heading there after work, and naturally, he joined me because he knows how much I love this spot. The drinks at Lemp Mansion are always on point, and the atmosphere? Given the mansion's haunted past, it's like sipping on history with a dash of mystery. The charm and cocktails never fail to lift my spirits. Until next time, darlings! Cheers, Sierra

Yelp
I passed this place on the freeway a few times during my weekend travels through St Louis. The marquee painted on the red brick wall caught my attention. The words historic, restaurant, and inn had sold me. I knew that I had to check this place out before departing St Louis. The mansion sits in a side street and next to that highway I traveled on several times. The structure itself is beautiful and a bit haunting when viewing it at night time. There is street parking as well as Lemp Mansion's own parking lot. I didn't make reservations. I was able to walk in on a Sunday evening about 6:30 PM for dinner and be seated at an available table. They're known for their fried chicken dinner. Bring a hearty appetite as they will provide you with plenty of food and it's all you can eat. This place has an ambiance that is inviting yet mysterious. For more of that mysterious flair, I suggest doing some research on your own. My waiter, Matt, was professional and personable. I ordered the fried chicken dinner. I believe this is the only option for Sundays. And so they bring it for their friend chicken dinner! I lost count of all the number of dishes they bring out. They offer a bowl of pan fried chicken that features about four pieces, both dark and white meat. Other dishes are macaroni salad, corn, German Style green beans, apple sauce, mashed potatoes, gravy, pineapple glazed ham, roast beef, buttermilk biscuits, and Cole slaw. Again, bring an appetite! Overall, the meal was okay. I've had better quality food. However, I enjoyed the experience the most! Matt allowed me to walk around the mansion and check the place out. The upstairs is very mysterious! I'll say no more..... They also have a gift shop to purchase memorabilia. Be sure to check it out. I purchased a book on the history of the mansion and the Lemp Family. They also tours as well! If I had more time in St Louis, I would've signed up for a tour. I would love to return here for my next St Louis adventure. If you're visiting this interesting city, I suggest checking out Lemp Mansion. Keep your expectations in check too.

Yelp
Tonight we had a dinner reservation for My Girlfriends moms 50th birthday, Makayo did an awesome job and was a very nice guy. The tables are a bit close together and you could probably touch the next table by reaching your arm out. I ordered the Sweet and Spicy Wings for my Entree and they were absolutely delicious, serving sizes are very generous. A little bit more sweet than spicy, a little nice tang. Girlfriend ordered the chicken fettuccini Alfredo, classic huge serving size, can feed 2 people. Definitely not as much flavor as you would expect I give it a 3/5 The Birthday mom ordered chicken piccata with mashed potatoes and broccoli, the piccata was cooked beautifully and the mashed potatoes accompanied very well, the broccoli was hard and nasty. Needed to be steamed longer. Steak Diane was cooked to medium rare perfection along with mashed potatoes and broccoli, 4/5 The star of every meal being dessert was the bananas foster, very rich and sweet, I would have preferably had my ice cream cold instead of melted overall still amazing

Yelp
The Lemp Mansion is a staple in the city of St. Louis, if you have not been there, it's a must try. If not to try the delicious food they offer, there are other reasons to go. They have different murder mystery dinner events that I've enjoyed on multiple occasions with friends and family. They offer paranormal activity tours if thats your thing, haunted history tours, and a host of other event. I went on a Sunday for the all you can eat family style buffet. The menu consists of fried chicken, ham, and sliced roast beef. mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, string beans, coleslaw, a cucumber, tomato and onion medley, corn, and rolls. I have zero complaints about any of the food. What I like most is that you stay seated and they constantly bring the food to you. The Lemp Mansion is an interesting restaurant, to say the least. It was once lived in by the Lemps and have since become a restaurant. There's an outside patio that they hold events on. You can also have weddings or parties there. I would say if you have not been to the Lemp Mansion, add it to your places to try list. You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Take the tour, not the night stay. Went to stay the night and left after 2 hours. The room- Lillian Suite- was fine (gorgeous bathroom) but REEKED of dead flowers and stale flower water. Maybe the keepers/owners do this to make a "ghost lavender lady smell" but I literally saw dying plants, and dying flowers in vases with stale flower water. Like being in an over warm florist cooler. The highway sound is overwhelming from the second floor of the mansion- I couldn't sleep if I tried. My husband could hear the highway over a phone call. That highway is BUSY with traffic and EMS vehicles. Every airport hotel I've been is quieter by far. The main areas are so dark (during the day) that I was afraid to go down the stairs- "ghosts" aside. No natural light was welcome, I assume because they want it dark and the really rough neighborhood isn't a pleasant view. I get that they are doing ambiance or whatever- but what happens if one falls down the stairs and there is no overnight staff or number to call? Because there is no overnight staff. This place is run on a shoestring budged and it's very noticeable. Ghost hunters- have your fun, cause you get the run of the place! Want to stay in a nice historic home? Look elsewhere. I've been to lunch here before and it was fine. Second star because my mom loves liver and onions and can't get it often. Service was bad. Hotel service was bad to just okay. Can only check in a couple hours a day and it's very strict. A hotel doesn't warn you several times on the site that there are no cancellations- suspect that many have had reasons to cancel- like noise and odor. It's basically a scam- mirrors everywhere, dark everywhere so someone thinks they see something strange. No staff on premises. Highway noises. Shoddy repairs to original fixtures. Flowers not replaced and rotting in rooms for smell.

Yelp
I was here in 2016 and it reminded me of eating at my grandparents house. The menu features a menu I would describe as heavily sauced and old fashioned. If they still have the same menu they need to think about freshening it up with seasonal fare and adding newer recipes that aren't so heavy. The food is good but don't expect something you've not had before at your family's home. The service was good and they let us do a self guided tour upstairs in the main house.

Yelp
I absolutely love Lemp Mansion! This restaurant is such a unique staple in the city. It truly feels like you're having a dinner party at your friends house, if that's the vibe you're looking for! We ordered the Sunday Chicken Dinner and it did not disappoint. The staff is incredibly friendly, attentive, and interactive. Our waiter consistently provided refills on food and drinks when we were getting low. We also stopped at the bar for some coffee drinks which were delicious! There is a parking lot outside for easy access.

Yelp
***The Lemp Mansion Experience*** I visited The Lemp Mansion on Halloween night with friends for The Lemp Experience and it was a fun time! We didn't have expectations of experiencing paranormal activity, and we didn't *see* any "ghosts", but there were definitely unsettling moments and rooms where we all had spine-tingling shivers, it felt like a wave of bad energy passing through. We stopped by the cocktail bar in the mansion before the tour. The drinks and food were decent, nothing extraordinary, but it was a nice touch to kick off the night. The mansion itself is beautiful -- the architecture and intricate details make it worth a visit on their own. If there's one thing I'd change, it'd be the tour group size. With so many people on the tour, it sometimes felt crowded and a bit distracting (which might've been why the spirits decided to keep their distance that night ;) ). Still, it was perfect for an evening of haunted history!

Yelp
We were a large group of agents from Main Key Realty in Festus, MO celebrating our Top Producers. EVERYTHING was amazing! We all loved the Paranormal Tour, and some people experienced things from the other side. Service and food was TOP NOTCH! Our service staff was friendly, attentive, informative and professional. Thank you!

Yelp
Yes went there for a XMas party. It was great my employees took part in a murder. Had a wonderful dinner too. Never had a chance to stay in the hotel but it has beautiful ambiance as well as the restaurant . They also ask around holidays to make reservations. Been there at lunch and the food is very delicious. The service was great. The desserts were to die for.

Jen P.

Yelp
We went to Lemp Mansion on 11/23/24 to see the Murder Mystery, "Anti-Clause." The show was so entertaining! The food was some of the best I have ever had and the service was impeccable! Thanks for a great evening!
google avatar

Yelp
The ambience was amazing the food was great! My husband and I attended the comedy murder mystery dinner! The people around us were fun and the whole experience is highly recommended.

Yelp
We went during Covid and it wasn't very good but I do know that it is a nostalgic place

Ryan T.

Yelp
Althiugh the food was good, it was easily the worst service i have ever haved. We not only had to wait over 20 minutes to be order water but our food beat our water to the table by 5 minutes. We practically had to beg to see what the dessert options were and when we ordered we never actually got anything. I am from out of town so not familiar with Lemp Mansion so I actually googled them to see if the waiter acting like a jerk was part of the theme. Nope. Just bad service and attitude. Never going back

Yelp
The food was delicious, the service was great and the ambience amazing. Love the idea of family style Chicken dinner and then a ghost tour sounds like a blast on a Sunday night.

Amanda C.

Yelp
Wonderful tour guide! Betsy is amazing! I recently booked Betsy to give the history of the Lemp Family at a marketing event. She is so knowledgeable and made it so fun! 10 out of 10 would recommend!

Yelp
The Food was delicious. The service was excellent. We will be back!! We are going to do a haunted tour as well. We were very happy to have gone there

Earnest H.

Yelp
A little unwelcoming feeling from staff. Maybe Darker people don't belong there.I never felt like they wanted my business. They were more concerned about a wedding party. It was my anniversary so I thought my dates were important too.

Hannah G.

Yelp
No idea why I rated Lemp 4 stars in my review. It's 5 stars all the way! Book a stay at Lemp! Spooky adventures await!

Cynthia L.

Yelp
My experience is always amazing. I highly recommend. The food and service is outstanding. My husband and I go often.

Yelp

Tracie F.

Yelp
Absolutely the best place for brunch. My family and I love this restaurant food and history.

Yelp
Such a cool building. Unfortunately, the food was pretty lousy. There was 4 of us and we all concluded the same thing. Neat building, bad food. Server seemed to forget about us, we would have ordered another round of drinks but could never get his attention. Finally someone in our party had to get up to go get him and ask for the bill.

Brooke L.

Yelp
Ive eaten at Lemp mansion about 6 times in 3 years. The food and service used to be top tier. I would recommend this fun restaurant to so many people when they would ask where to go in St. Louis. The past few times I have been, that has not been the case. The food prices have not changed and the quality and portion size has gone downhill. I went with a couple of out of town friends last night and the service was horrid. One friend ordered a medium steak and I ordered a medium rare steak. Both came out blue rare. No problem, mistakes happen! We kindly asked the server if it could be taken back to be cooked a little longer and very begrudgingly, he did. Came back even more rare. He never returned to ask how things were and I felt like we were a huge burden to him the entire time. I ate two bites of my blue rare steak and boxed it. I won't be back and honestly it's not because the food was just ok, it's because when you're paying $32 for a plate, you'd expect friendlier, more accommodating staff. Note: the restaurant was in no way busy. We walked out and there was a mystery dinner that has its own staff. He was attending to 6 tables. I noticed that we were over charged for a couple of our drinks as well, but we didn't say anything. At that point the whole table just wanted to leave. That's not how we should have felt with $175 tab. I'll spend my money elsewhere next time.

Yelp
The food is very heavy and fattening. I came here on Valentine's Day for their special and they kept our unlimited Champagne flowing and were very attentive! The bar tender at the bar kind of threw together our drinks that night and made them too sweet. It would have been more fun to have someone at the bar who was more knowledgeable. Our server was GREAT nonetheless!

Yelp
Was here recently for the murder mystery dinner show with a friend. When we walked in the maitre 'd greeted us, we told him we had a reservation, he pointed out the bar and restrooms and showed us to our seats. Since we were a little early we went ti the bar to have a drink. Bartender was friendly and interacted with us. We then headed to our seats. The murder mystery was fun, most of the attendees played a part (as much as they felt comfortable) and halfway through dinner was served. When the show first got underway we all had salad to munch on, dinner was a chicken breast (breaded and gravy on top) with mashed potatoes and green beans, roll on the side. It was so good, the chicken was tender and not dry, the green beans were perfectly tender and well seasoned. Plenty of everything. They did some more of the show, dessert ( strawberry cheesecake) arrived, it was really good and a large portion. Then we all finished the show. It was a fun night with good food. I would not mind doing it again.

Yelp
I've been coming to Lemp for 13-14 years and have always had an amazing time here. Their food is always amazing and we love staying overnight!

Gabbi M.

Yelp
We had the brunch on Easter. Everything tastes amazing just as it did years ago. There were several servers looking to make sure your food was replenished so you weren't waiting on anything. Top picks of the brunch was the fried chicken and the marinated vegetable salad!

Yelp
The Lemp Mansion is a very special and nostalgic place for me. I've been coming here with my family for meals since I was a kid. We recently had dinner here for Valentines Day and the food was so much better than we were expecting! We typically visit for the Sunday family style brunch, which is the most flavorful family style brunch around. It is my dad's favorite and I would have to agree! For Valentines Day, we wanted to do the social which came with unlimited champagne, an appetizer, soup or salad, an entree, and dessert. We chose the toasted ravioli for the appetizer and were good early blown away at how good they were along with the marinara sauce. They were unique for toasted ravioli and I would definitely order them again. I ordered the French onion soup and it was rich and flavorful as well! For my entree, I chose the Steak Charles which I also really enjoyed. My boyfriend got the prime rib, which was a showstopper and so big with amazing texture and flavor. Dessert was a layered chocolate and custard dessert with a chocolate covered strawberry on top and we loved that too. The service was quick and attentive and we always enjoy looking around the house. We also spoke with the lady working in the gift shop and she told us some cool ghost stories! You must make a trip to the Lemp Mansion, especially if you live in St. Louis!

Corey G.

Yelp
The show was great. The food was good for regular eaters however the food for any vegans is a second thought at this restaurant. They do not give you an adequate meal compared to the regular meals. The main course is just grilled vegetables and for dessert it's just fruit. If you're vegan I would eat before coming here so you're not starving for four hours during the show.

Yelp
Rating: 4.2 Stars My aunt got me a Groupon for this place so I took myself to dinner last year. I realize that I neglected to review it, and that is not fair. I definitely need to review this local gem. The atmosphere was pleasant, and I was seated at a table in a side room. When I was there, it was not that crowded, and I got to dine by myself, which was nice. I ordered the Chicken Parmesan and a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. The Chicken Parmesan was a massive portion, and it was tasty. The sauce was not as sweet as I typically enjoy, but it was still very good. The wine complemented the entree quite nicely.

Yelp
Lemp's Sunday family-home-style dinner was spot on. We had a group of 30 this evening. Glasses were always full and the meal was so scrumptious. Kudos to the wonderful staff. Fried chicken, roast beef, ham, mash potatoes, green beans, corn, cucumber salad were all fantastic. There was no room for dessert.

Yelp
Infested with roaches. Careless and rude service. This place needs a reality check. Always drunk

Yelp
Come for dinner and drinks, but leave before staff start calling people with intellectual disabilities names. The dinners are good--and I'm a vegetarian, so I'm skipping quite a bit of what others like. The drinks are fun, delicious, and strong. The house has a charming history. Why 3 stars? The ownership insists on tour guides adding to the tragic Lemp history (3 suicides in the house, financial struggles) a story that one of the Lemp sons impregnated a maid with a baby who grew into a boy who had Down Syndrome (or that the child was legitimate but treated poorly just the same)... That the Lemps kept the boy in the top floor of the house and never let him go outside. Other kids would see him from the street and call him "monkey-faced boy." They say his ghost is playful. Yes, it sounds so made up. Beyond the issues with the logic of this (What upper class family would keep a male son's living indiscretion in the house? One dismisses the maid and/or has the child adopted out. One does not let the child they are too ashamed to allow outside look out the window for the whole neighborhood to see.)... There is no documentation for Zeke anywhere but a modern books of ghost stories/hauntings. Must have just pulled that name out of a hat. Even if there were--even if there had been a child with Down Syndrome--insisting on referring to the child "monkey-faced boy," even when "quoting," is wrong. If you want to say there is a child ghost, go for it. Diagnosing Down Syndrome for a person who allegedly lived and died... for whom no photos exist, though? This hurts your mansion's paranormal reputation, which you seem to care about. So how about no more offensive name-calling, no more Down Syndrome diagnosing, and, while we're at it, no more implying that the Lemps were HORRIBLE people for locking up a kid with a disability? People on the tour cringe when they hear this.

Yelp
I had a reservation for my birthday and they accommodated us so well. It was my first time there and it certainly did not disappoint. I got the shrimp fettuccini Alfredo and the flavor was incredible. The portion was also very good for the price. We will be back!

Yelp
Attended the Mardi Gras party hosted by the Lemp and it was amazing. Food, drinks and atmosphere were perfect. Patti and Paul are always great hosts!! See you all there next year.

Yelp
The kids are home from college early because of the #WuhanCoronaVirus scare so we figured we'd try something new. The all-you-can-eat fried chicken dinner sounded like a good investment for a couple of college baseball players and their parents. Table was ready when we arrived. Waiter told us the deal: family style dinner at the table -- don't have to get up and do a buffet or anything -- when we run out, they bring us more. Sounded great. Not five minutes later and the food started rolling out, covering the entire table. There was fried chicken which was amazing, beef brisket, ham with pineapple, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, silly good macaroni and cheese, cucumber salad, house made slaw, some apple sauce that was delicious, and a basket of bread. I doubt I'm missing anything, but it was all really good. The serving sizes/bowls are smaller as the rounds go by, but if you ask for the larger bowls they will bring them out. Also, they let you take leftovers with you, which is not usually the case on an all-you-can-eat deal. Service was great. Food was great. People were great...and the DESSERT, which apparently is included, was terrific as well. We had the coconut cream pie, chocolate layer cake, and a pecan pie. Our neighbors had Bananas Foster made right at the table, flame and all. I was shocked at how inexpensive the whole meal was when I got the bill. Really one of the best values around. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Yelp
Attention Horror and ghost lovers! Lemp is such a great place to stop by if you are in the area. They have beautiful decor and preserved items and furniture, art, architecture throughout the mansion. Their food is great and comforting. They have a chicken dinner Sundays that is fantastic. Staff is great! Definitely recommend and read up on the history.

Yelp
Solid 4 stars. Ambience was unique (fantastic!). So much history in the mansion - Be sure to Google the mansion before you go so you can appreciate the history even more. The waiter and other staff were attentive. The food was good, not spectacular (I had the peppered steak, my husband had the chicken picatta, and my son had a steak Manhattan.) Steaks are on the smaller side, but very good. The sides were tasty and plentiful (Vegie medley and potatoes au gratin.) Would suggest that they include a few gluten-free entrees on the menu. This is a St. Louis treasure. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
We had a large family gathering. The food was exceptional especially that night's special, Chicken Boursin. The server was attentive and the private room surroundings allowed us to visit

Yelp
I was here for the 2nd time this past weekend while visiting friends in town. The first time I was here about 5 years ago was just to stop in for a drink & walk around the mansion. I could definitely feel a presence there, especially in the bar area and on the 2nd floor where the staircase descended back onto the main level. I think it may have been too crowded to get the full experience this last time. Our group dinner here on Saturday left a lot to be desired. I LOVE the ambience here which is why it's getting 3 stars. The food was mediocre at best. The service left a lot to be desired. We had a 6 year old with us who had chicken strips for $17.95! They were flavorless and terrible. I had the Steak Charles which was slightly overdone & lukewarm. We were left for long periods of time without anyone checking on us, forgot to bring drinks both times we ordered. Also, when we asked if the check could be split, his reply was "well, I already rang it up because I didn't know." We asked again and he seemed very put out by our request. Took him over 30 min to settle the bill. Very disappointing, especially considering how much money our group spent there. I will go back just to appreciate the setting, but the dining experience was sub-par.

Yelp
A group of us went to the Lemp Experience. What a fun time! The drink and appetizers were nice while we were told a history of the museum. The tour was very informative and fun. Nothing happened, but possibly some orbs seen in one of our infinity mirror pictures. The staff was then very accommodating when we asked for a table to have a meal after the event. The only thing we thought that could use improvement was more items available for purchase in the gift shop. I had a lot of ideas on things they could sell.

Yelp
Had an amazing lunch with my parents here. The food was excellent with their bacon chowder being a perfect starter. We also loved how soft the rolls were that were served while we were waiting. I was blown away at the portion size for the club sandwich which, despite its size, tasted incredible. From a service standpoint, Dee Dee was a fantastic server and Xavier was great as well. They took plenty of time explaining the history of the mansion, answering our questions, making food recommendations, and making sure we had a great dining experience. We will absolutely be back!
