The 11 Best Salads In London That Will Bring You Joy

"Our go-to order at Lena’s, a small, bright red cafe in Paddington, is a large chicken rice box, which is filled with minced lamb, rice, plenty of shredded chicken, sweet potatoes, roasted carrots, and grilled aubergine, plus a couple of the excellent cold salads. Which by the way are far more than a couple of tomatoes and some limp lettuce—they’ve got couscous, bean salads, a creamy potato number, and plenty more. It’s the kind of food you watch an overachiever meal-prep on FitTok. " - heidi lauth beasley, daisy meager, sinead cranna, jake missing, rianne shlebak

The 16 Best Restaurants In Paddington

"For lunch around Paddington, Lena’s Cafe hits every single time. It’s the closest thing you’ll get to home cooking in W2, and our go-to order is a large chicken rice box, which is filled with minced lamb, plenty of shredded chicken, sweet potatoes, roasted carrots, and grilled aubergine, plus a couple of the cold salads like cous cous and a tangy avocado number. It’s the kind of food you watch an overachiever meal-prep on FitTok and wish you had the energy, and aesthetically pleasing kitchen, to do the same." - jake missing, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna

The Best £10 Meals In London - London - The Infatuation

"Large takeaway box Our go-to order at this small, bright red cafe in Paddington is a large chicken rice box, which is filled with minced lamb, plenty of shredded chicken, sweet potatoes, roasted carrots, and grilled aubergine, plus a couple of the cold salads. Which by the way are far more than a couple of tomatoes and some limp lettuce—they’ve got couscous, bean salads, a creamy potato number, and plenty more. Lena's Cafe - Review - Paddington - London - The Infatuation

"Lena’s Cafe in Paddington is the kind of lunchtime spot that will have you emailing your boss office spaces nearby because the food is kind of healthy and tastes great. And because a meal for under a tenner in central London feels like a steal. It’s the closest thing you’ll get to home cooking in W2. Word of mouth and lunchtime queues are what keep this small, bright red cafe on the corner of Bouverie Place always busy. At peak lunch hours, Lena’s Cafe is a chaotic place. Don’t expect any small talk from the servers and we’d avoid taking a seat inside before 2pm. Not because you won’t find a table but because during the 12pm rush, the door is ajar and people queue half in half out. That’s fine if you like an audience while you shovel green beans in your mouth, not so great if you like to take your puffer jacket off while eating lunch. Ultimately, what you need to know is that Lena’s is best experienced as a takeaway—grab a generously filled £9 box to go and it’s the best weekday lunch in the area. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Our go-to order is a large chicken rice box, which is filled with minced lamb, plenty of shredded chicken, sweet potatoes, roasted carrots, and grilled aubergine, plus a couple of the cold salads. Which by the way are far more than a couple of tomatoes and some limp lettuce—they’ve got couscous, bean salads, a creamy potato number, and plenty more. It’s the kind of food you watch an overachiever meal-prep on FitTok and wish you had the energy, and aesthetically pleasing kitchen, to do the same. Food Rundown Rice With Chicken The rice is perfectly spiced—brown from the black pepper with minced lamb mixed into it—with shredded chicken on top. This is the kind of wholesome food that never gets old. Sweet Potatoes Crispy around the edges and baby food levels of soft inside, the sweet potato is pretty popular, so just know if you come late afternoon it might be finished. Salads Let’s get one thing straight. These are not side salads. The salad here tastes as if it’s been given the same amount of attention as the main platters above. In fact we’d probably be as happy with a box of lentil, chickpea, and spiced couscous salad from here as we would a normal box. (Who are we kidding—we love that rice.)" - Rianne Shlebak

Absolutely loved my first visit to Lena’s Café! The food was hearty, flavourful, and served in generous portions. I had a classic English breakfast with fried eggs, sausages, baked beans, toast, and grilled tomatoes — everything was perfectly cooked and delicious. The iced drinks (especially the AMAZING iced coffee) and fresh juice were refreshing and complemented the meal really well. The vibe inside the café is super friendly, and the service was quick and welcoming. It’s the kind of local gem that makes you feel at home. Highly recommend this spot if you’re in the area and want a proper, satisfying breakfast or brunch! Will definitely be back for more!

One of the best meals I have had in London so far. Nice little cafe located next to St Mary’s hospital with NHS discounts. Had the large plate that came with 1 main and 5 side dishes. Was surprised by the flavor of the baba ghanoush and the potato’s were also great.

Small Cafe size restaurant, but I've had the best food experience in London here. Mom and daughter staff are very hospitable and make sure their guests have what they want and are happy with their Lebanese/Mediterranean food orders.

Ate on 19 June 2025. I chanced upon this stall as my BnB was nearby and was immediately drawn in by the advertised set breakfast. Taste-wise, it did not disappoint. The place filled up quickly in the morning with tourists and regular customers. I had one of the nicest and most satisfying English breakfasts of my trip. The portions were generous and taste as spot on. I also tried the kunefe, which was inexpensive and absolutely to die for. Pity I didn’t have more room in my tummy , or I would have loved to sample their Lebanese cuisine as well.

We had a full English Breakfast, my first and I really enjoyed it. Honestly delicious. Keep in mind we are not English so, who knows but these two Americans loved it.

The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly, offering great service with a smile. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, and the shop is clean and well-organised. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite or doing some grocery shopping for Middle Eastern ingredients, this place has it all. Highly recommended for anyone who loves authentic Lebanese cuisine. I’ll definitely be coming back!

The food at Lena’s is super tasty and affordable and there is a large variety to choose from. The baked cauliflower is my favourite! I would also recommend the avocado salad, tabbouleh and potato salad. My go-to for a quick and healthy lunch.

Yelp
Lena's has the most delicious roasted vegetables! We just enjoyed a plate of them for breakfast. The English breakfast at the neighboring table looked delicious too.

Yelp
This is such a brillant find...I was on my way to Paddington and starving - but I didn't feel like having a dry panini, jacket potato or kebab, all of which are abundant in this part of town...no, I wanted something colorful, flavourful and healthy... ...and then I saw the lunch crowd in this place: Lena's Café. To be sure, it's a tiny place and when I say crowd, I mean about 5-10 people. But they all looked and behaved like regulars and were very confident in ordering their food. Plus, the staff seemed to know already some of them and so there was a nice chatter going on. I decided to go with one of the mixed salads - the choice is big and they all look awfully yummy. These are not you're California-style salads, but Mediterranean/Middle Easter style salads: lots of aubergine choices, hummus, etc. If you're in the area, please do come here...it's so much better and economical then most of the other fast-food places around.

Yelp
Absolutey love this place. I stumbled upon it right after I'd bought lunch from 8 caffe, so had to wait a day before trying this. The display of salads ensured I was back and a day later, I bought a large salad box to take away. A large gives you 5 options of salad - I opted for the fish, falafel, aubergine, sweet potato and a black olive salad. Wow, what can I say absolutely delicious. The fish was a large serving and not dry in the slightest. The only thing that let the meal down slightly was the falafel. It was little dry for my liking, even when coated in the chilli relish. All in all though was £5.50 and a free banana thrown in for good measure, this was a pretty good deal and I'd love to go back and try a few of the other things on the menu.

Yelp
This small cafe is very good if you want a rapid healthy lunch. You pay a fixed charge for chicken or fish with vegetables or salad and there is plenty of choice. Not many places can offer a veg-heavy meal but this place does and all credit to them for enabling those who want to eat a good diet to do so when not at home. On the downside it is very small and cramped so don't expect to have a private chat over lunch.

Yelp
I'd heard good things from a colleague, so I was keen to try this little Mediterranean cafe near my office. Staff are friendly and serve you fast. While the place is teeny tiny - you'll likely have to share a table - portions are v generous. I had the small plate, and that was more than enough. Vegetarian lasagne, with three salads, all totally delish - especially the aubergine. They even give you a flatbread as well. Eating in was £5.50 and take away is just £3.50. Take cash if you can, or there's a small charge for card payments. Look forward to my next visit and more of that oh-so-moreish aubergine. Mmm.

Yelp
Lena's is an independent little cafe offering a wide selection of home-made Lebanese salads, lasagnes, potatoes and stews. For around £5 you can choose dishes to fill a box for takeout or a plate for eat-in - you'll be guaranteed a fresh, tasty and filling lunch whatever you choose! Lena's is a stone's throw from work so I'm sure we'll continue to return - it's worth a visit if you're in the area.

Yelp
The food is much the same as ever but the cafe now closes at 5pm which means there is no food after 4pm, so it's now useless for a quick bite to eat before a talk/film at The Frontline Club round the corner http://www.qype.co.uk/place/107376-The-Frontline-Club-London , useless for commuters, useless for people coming back to Paddington in the late afternoon/evening, etc Pity.

Yelp
Wonderful little independent cafe near Paddington Station! I was looking for somewhere to get a baguette or panini on a Saturday afternoon. They didn't have any, but once inside and seeing the amazing range of hot dishes and salads I HAD to stay! Food was absolutely delicious, healthy and very reasonably priced. Service, too was warm and friendly. Will definitely be returning. Highly recommended.
