Great museum! I love that there are plenty of various art styles inside the building. It took us about 3 hours to visit every room. There are also audio guides for visitors to learn about art pieces and history of LenBach house. The staff were really nice and helpful. There was one art that was covered by a cloth to prevent the light. The staff told us to lift the cloth up in a friendly manner. The art piece was marvelous. Moreover, we were impressed by how friendly and enthusiastic the staff was. Once finishing seeing arts in the building, you can hang out in "the most beautiful garden in munich". The plants in spring are colorful and delightful. You can also have lunch at the restaurant in the museum.

The Lenbachhaus in Munich is a fantastic museum, especially for lovers of modern art. Housed in a beautiful historic villa with a sleek modern extension, it offers a great mix of classic and contemporary works. Another bonus is the café inside, which is a great place to relax after exploring the collection. Whether you’re an art enthusiast or just curious about Munich’s cultural scene, Lenbachhaus is definitely worth a visit!

This museum has a great collection of works from the Blue Rider group and the special exhibition was fantastic. It had well-organized exhibits with lots of info for those interested in the context and history of the work.

Really nice art experience here! I visited on its freeday, first Thursday of month. Would suggest you to spend around 2-3h here. The Collection covered many topics from Classical paintings to modern abstrakt art! The garden here is also really nice to have a short stay these!

This event exemplifies the high caliber of temporary exhibitions curated or organized by Lenbachhaus. With a steady stream of such engaging shows, the museum always offers compelling reasons to return.

Such a great museum, so many Paul Klee and Kandisnky paintings. Absolutely loved it!

It’s an exciting museum that combines avant-garde and contemporary art. We especially liked the Blue Rider exhibition featuring masterpieces by Kandinsky and Gabriele Münter. We also enjoyed the temporary exhibition of Auguste Herbin. Another highlight was the well-detailed audio and text guides available for free on your own devices.

I had a fantastic experience at the Lenbachhaus in Munich! We visited on a Sunday morning, and it was wonderfully peaceful with just the right amount of visitors, making it easy to enjoy the art without crowds. The exhibition was diverse and engaging, offering a mix of both contemporary and classic works that kept us intrigued throughout. The museum shop was a highlight too, with a great selection of books and posters. Overall, it was a perfect cultural outing, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Munich!

What a fabulous collection of modern art! It was nice for us Californians visiting Munich to see. The Lenbachhaus has the MOST Kandinskys I've ever seen plus so much more! And I wouldn't have known about this place. But our tour guide to Neushchwanstein palace mentioned it! Thanks Jacqueline! If you're visiting Munich, don't miss the Lenbachhaus!

I've been to a lot of museums around the world and have to say this only average at best. Not a lot to offer except the Blue Rider group of German artists. The museum is not that big and only spent about 1 1/2 hours. Could have been less but my German friend was interested and probably only because it's artist from his country. The lady at check in was not very friendly and didn't realize until 1/2 way thru exhibit that there are free audio guides available. They do have the audio guide in German and English which was nice.

This review pains me. Lenbachhaus used to be my absolute favorite museum. When I studied in Munich in 92-93 (yes, many years ago) I would spend hours hanging out in this museum. It was cozy and inviting and had the fabulous works of Marc, Kandinsky, and others in the Blaue Reiter group. It was a bit of a personal oasis. Fast forward to December 2015, my first opportunity to visit since their major remodel. It now feels like a museum instead of like you're visiting someone's house who happens to have an awesome art collection. Paintings are spaced far apart on white walls. It feels like they have fewer Marc paintings on display (though my memory could be faulty). Many of the Kandinsky paintings are now no longer in the proper museum - they're in the auxiliary gallery in the U-bahn station. While it's still some of my favorite art, the overall atmosphere and experience is not what it once was.

What a great museum! A 10 minute metro ride from the middle of Munich, it doesn't seem much from the outside. However, it's recently been renovated inside with very modern and chic decor. The museum wasn't too crowded so it was easy to maneuver around. Prepare to spend more than a few hours here, though, if your goal is to view the entire museum. My cousin and I stayed on only one floor and were there for about two hours. I really enjoyed the Blue Rider exhibit they had. It was very extensive and went in a chronological manner so that you really could get the full effect of the movement and what it meant at the time. I would come back here in a heartbeat. They also had free audio guides available. These were great because each art piece had a number to it and when you wanted to find out more about a piece, you entered the number into the guide and it told you more about it. I enjoyed that because you didn't have to listen to information on every piece, nor did I have to follow a particular route in the museum. I was free to go at my own pace and learn more about what I was interested in. Oh, and the cafe inside is super nice. I felt like I was walking into a 5 star restaurant- very fancy, yet reasonably priced.

I still cannot believe I am the first to review this place I swear, I tried any possible search in Qype: if it is already there, sorry I was so desperate to add it to Qype, that I immediately went there to take some pictures! Simply. 6 stars award! Is THE place in Munich! A visit to the city is not completed without, a visit to it justifies a visit to the city It has the most outstanding collection in the world of Wassily Kandinsky and of the other great artist of Bue Rider (Der Blaue Reiter) movement: Marc, Münter, Klee, Macke, Jawlensky. i'ts infact based on the personal collectrion of Gabriele Münter, who shared the life of Kandinsky for many years. Simply, astonishing!!! In addition to the beauty of painting, 4 rooms of the museum have been refurbished (lights, colors, etc) a couple of years ago by 4 artists, adding value to the exibition (see the photo). Really, don't miss it!!!

An interesting art gallery - with lots of different styles, meaning there's something here for everyone. Wander about the different galleries, stepping from 19th century artwork to the modern day, from paintings to giant chandeliers, to a toy shop filled with mechanical delights, even the building is pretty to look at.

This is an amazing museum. I love it! This is the place to see modern art in Munich, including artists from Der Blaue Reiter movement. A lot of the museum is dedicated to Wassily Kandinsky, and with good reason. He was so talented. It's full of modern, abstract art. There is a gorgeous garden outside and lots of neon light exhibits. Very creative paintings including some playing with gradients. There is also a large chandelier made of stained glass, resembling the shape of a tornado. It is atop the ceiling where the stairway is, so you cannot miss it. There are also free audio guides if you want to enhance your experience. The guides are controlled by you (there are numbers on each piece that you enter to hear information), so you are still able to see everything at your own pace, and even skip areas if you want to. It also enables you to start wherever you want, rather than having to follow a certain pattern. The museum itself is gorgeous, inside and out. The building is very modern and worth checking out.

Lenbachhaus is a beautiful villa full of amazing art. I paid it a rushed visit on a short trip to Munich last week. Two Wassily Kandinsky exhibitions are currently on show, with his graphic work in the main house alongside Der Blaue Reiter, and the international Absolut.Abstract exhibition of paintings across the road in the Kunstbau. Too much for one session! For some strange reason most locals I asked didn't know how to get to the museum - not even those interested in modern art! On another occasion I also visited the cafe, which is lovely, too.

Good museum with a solid mix of art. There are three floors, with most of the exhibits being on the first and second floor, along with a courtyard with access from the ground floor. The first floor contained a variety of modern art with backgrounds on the artists, including a fantastic exhibit of a preserved collectibles shop that closed in 2015 and was subsequently completely donated by the shop owner. The second floor contained an exhibit on The Blue Rider Circle, a group of late 19th century artists of which a majority were German. Overall a good way to pass a couple hours!

Great museum. If you visit the other at museums the sequence should be Alte, Neue and Lenbachhaus. This way you get a beautiful amazing sequence. Forget the Modern museum. It's crap. Your kids will do better. Seriously Lenbachhaus is the best finale.
