On the Grid : L'Endroit

"L’Endroit is a spacious restaurant with a lovely terrace, just in front of a beautiful white church. People often go there to enjoy their famous hamburger with fresh French fries. Or a saladier, way bigger than a traditionnal salad. People seat at the bar to have a cocktail and discuss with the waiters and the other clients. People are nice here and it’s common that people at the table next to yours become your friends for the evening. Afterworks are appreciated around a homemade cocktail or a good glass of wine. Saturday and Sunday, young parents can relax around a brunch with their kids. That place will never disappoint you!" - Brand Brothers

We often come to L’Endroit – almost like locals by now – and it never disappoints. This time we brought some friends for Sunday lunch, and once again it was a great experience. Beyond the food, what really stands out is the courtesy. Our waiter not only laughed at my silly joke about my wife’s “order disorder,” but was also genuinely kind and welcoming to our foreign guests – not something you always find in Paris. The restaurant keeps its local charm, and the team handles everything calmly even in the busiest moments. My Caesar salad was exactly what I hoped for: crisp, generous, and satisfying. True, we were surrounded by a few bees, but with some laughs and a bit of help from the staff (who kindly offered us an indoor table), it wasn’t a problem. And then came the highlight: the profiteroles. I’m passionate about them, and this one went straight into my personal top three. A warm, rich chocolate sauce over a soft pastry with crunchy nuts and smooth vanilla ice cream – an absolute dream. Adding also my friend’s pavlova: a work of art. Great place, great team – highly recommended!

We visited Paris again after three years. This time we were looking for more of a gastronomic experience than monuments. That's why we looked for this restaurant and went there in the morning for an incredible authentic French liqueur. We made a reservation for dinner. The food was absolutely excellent. The staff was very nice and so were the waiters. However, the most amazing thing was the lady in charge. She visited us several times during the meal and made sure that everything was fine. Many thanks to her. I recommend it a thousand times.

Absolutely beautiful restaurant with friendly staff and incredible food. The chocolate mousse is the best I have ever tasted. It was a truly wonderful experience to dine here. Our server helped us pick the perfect wine for the steak, very knowledgeable! We got drinks, dinner, and dessert so the price was a little higher per person but worth it for the quality.

Spent the summer in Paris and ate here several times. They have my favorite salad in the world. Who knew lettuce could be addictive?

Yelp
This cafe is also known as L'Endroit Batignolles. I absolutely positively adore this place. So do the locals. The place is packed - and rightfully so. * * * L'Endroit Batignolles is located in the main square of Batignolles. Batignolles is the new "It" neighborhood in Paris. Paris does a lot of urban renovation - and where "It" is changes as frequently as "It" changes in a game of tag. Paris knows how to upgrade a neighborhood while keeping all the old buildings and making them look beautiful. Wealthy and upper middle class Parisians have stormed into Batignolles and bought every apartment they can find in those beautifully refurbished antique buildings. Wonderful restaurants and stores came right on the heels of the new residents. Batignolle-ards can eat magnificently and shop magnificently while never going more than six blocks from their home. * * * The Grand Central Attraction is Place des Batignolles - an open square with a beautiful neoclassical 18th century church as the centerpiece of the plaza. Chic restaurants and coffee shops surround the plaza. The customers all flock to L'Endroit Batignolles. There are more patrons here than there are in all the other cafes and coffee shops combined. The Batignolle market has savoir faire. The locals know their food. They know their drink. They know what a sophisticated cafe is supposed to be like. * * * My wife and I ate magnificently. I started with a plum eau de vie I will remember for the rest of my life. There is a ton of cheap terrible eau de vie in France. (Usually if someone offers you French pear brandy, decline. Decline politely but forcefully.) Raspberry eau de vie is typically a bad version of kirsch and plum eau de vie is slivovitz without the formaldehyde. L'Endroit Eau de Vie is Louis Roque. Louis Roque is simply in another class and another universe. I made that plum eau de vie last all afternoon. The plum eau de vie made everything perfect. * * * Not that "everything" needed any help. In front of me was a platter of Ferme d'Alexandre cheese. Ferme d'Alexandre is a top of the line cheese store that sells exclusively to the trade. You can't shop there, physically or virtually. Their. Cheeses. Are. Miraculous. I won't give you the details of the six different cheeses that were served. I will merely say that none of them fit any of the stereotypes one would expect. Cheeses that looked strong were mild and comforting. Cheeses that looked tame got up and threw me across the plaza. It took two hours to eat those cheeses. They were the best two hours I have spent in my life. * * * My wife adored her salmon salad - which was made with an absolutely first rate piece of salmon. * * * A perfect sunny Sunday afternoon in Paris. Afternoon light on an eighteenth century church in a plaza. A sophisticated eau de vie wrapping its fronds around every part of your body. Cheeses to wake you up brutally from the eau de vie - and then the sunlight sends you back into the golden fog again. * * * This is the way European travel is supposed to be.

Yelp
Such a great spot with a variety of really good food including authentic and typical French dishes. We had the tartare and a Classic coquillettes. Both were DELICIOUS. My BF said the coquillettes was just like his grandmother had made it. Super super friendly staff, our waitress (Adeline) was above par! You'd wish every waitress was like her. What a delight. Also food came very fast!! Good place for people watching too. Win definitely come back here!!

Yelp
I love this place. We live around the corner from here and my wife and I go here often. The food is fantastic and the service is excellent. We usually get a bacon cheeseburger and a huge composed salad and go half and half. I've tried other things, but when I want a burger in Paris, this is the place we go. Funny thing about eating a burger in Paris though, many Parisians eat burgers with a knife and fork, so you may get strange looks if you're grappling with a large, semi-messy burger using your hands. There is a set of tables on the sidewalk with overhead heating for the cold times, but you'll want to sit inside if you don't like the cigarette smoke.

Yelp
I had a delicious cheeseburger with fries. It was huge and a work of art. The price was definitely high for a burger, but that's the name of the Paris food game. It gets pretty hopping on the weekend and seems to be a favorite neighborhood spot to grab drinks and hang out with friends.

Yelp
Very nice cosy place with good comfort and traditional food. They have salads, burgers, tartars and other authentic and traditional French dishes. Service is good and prices are reasonable. Portions are great! The decor is really nice and the food is good. All ingredients are gathered for a nice dinner!

Yelp
Great place, recommended by a local friend and it lived up to his praise. Very friendly people and a tasty burger, and my fiancee had a delicious salmon club. Nice tall cold beer as well. We went for lunch but they are open late (until 2am I think). Highly recommended!

Yelp
wonderful small neighborhood feel, it looks onto the adorable plaza surrounding the nice church. it looks like the decor was newly redone (interesting, not my taste) but even though it's a little modern, it still feels very cozy. a perfect place to grab a drink with a friend, read a book (even though it's a little noisy) or bring the kids. love the location, great service, reasonable prices
