The food here was excellent! Make sure you get the sourdough bread for starters, it’s amazing. The oysters were incredibly fresh, and my partner’s mud crab pasta was next level. I had the steak, which was cooked to a perfect medium rare. What makes this place special is the vibe; the staff are attentive, and the music is always spot on. It’s a small, hard-working contingent in the kitchen delivering big flavors. We’ll definitely be back for more!

Walking to the restaurant with the latest Nick Cave album playing is a perfect way to start. Service is friendly and not stuffy, atmosphere is great - the playlist never fails to impress and the food is brilliant. We shared a mix of new items and old favourites. The food was perfectly seasoned, full of flavour and inventive but not pretentious. For such a small contingent in the kitchen to pump out such delicious and consistent food is perfect. The mandarin Tom Collins is definitely worth a taste too.

Lene is one of those Richmond cafés that makes you stop and think, this is why Melbourne does brunch and coffee so well. The space itself is modern and light-filled, with a calm, minimal aesthetic that feels both welcoming and stylish. It’s the kind of place you can settle into for a quiet coffee or enjoy a long brunch with friends. The coffee here is exceptional. Smooth, rich, and full of flavour – you can tell they source high-quality beans and know exactly how to brew them. My flat white was spot on, creamy milk texture with a strong, clean espresso flavour. My friend had a filter coffee and raved about how bright and nuanced it was. The food is just as impressive. The menu is creative without being overcomplicated, with dishes that feel fresh, seasonal, and carefully balanced. I tried the miso scrambled eggs, which were rich, savoury, and perfectly matched with the sourdough. The avocado dish my partner ordered was beautifully presented and packed with flavour. Even the sides – like the hash and mushrooms – were done with care and stood out. Service was warm and attentive, with staff who are clearly passionate about what they do. Everything came out quickly, and the team created a relaxed, friendly vibe that makes you want to return. Lene is a true Richmond gem – stylish, thoughtful, and consistently delivering on both food and coffee. It feels like the perfect café for Melbourne: understated, creative, and full of flavour.

Dinner at @lene_restaurant from a little while ago: fantastic food and lovely service, and not overly pricey either! We were all super full, and it was less than 100$ per person, including drinks. . Raw bluefin tuna, rösti, caviar: delicious 🤤 🤤. Anchovy toast, dill pickles Mussel flat bread, chilli, lemon: such great flavours😍😍. Mixed grain sourdough, lene cultured butter 300g wagyu porter house steak, uni miso butter, beef sauce: this was amazing!! Blue-eye, creamed corn, grilled parsley, salted orange Farfalle, braised dandelion, preserved lemon, pine nut Frites, mussel salt Geen salad, honey mustard vinaigrette, fried sourdough, candied pistachio (not pictured) Sourdough doughnuts, citrus curd, blood plum: love love love these! Honey ice cream, coffee granita, candied, sesame, salted vanilla

We had a fantastic experience at Lene! The food and service were both sensational. We tried the following: - Oysters (wasabi leaf mignonette) - King Ora Tartare - Scallop - Mussel flat bread - Wagyu Porterhouse, uni miso butter (the most tender steak we've had at a restaurant in a long time!) Everything was superb. The herbs on the scallop were a touch excessive, but other than that we couldn't fault anything. 100% will be back
