Leonardo Boutique Hotel Maastricht City Center

The hotel is well located, and the rooms are overall ok. However, the overall experience did not match what I would normally expect from a boutique 4-star hotel, it lacks the atmosphere, character, and level of service typically associated with that category. Housekeeping is not provided daily and only starts from the third night, which is unusual for this category. While fresh towels or additional service can be requested, this still feels closer to an apartment-style concept than a full-service hotel. Breakfast is offered through a partner restaurant, which was fine, but there is no bar, lounge, or snack/food service available during the day or evening. The minibar in the room was empty, with no alternative options provided. Overall, the hotel feels more like a well-designed aparthotel or a good 3-star property rather than a true 4-star hotel, mainly due to the lack of services. It may suit guests looking for independence stay, but expectations regarding services should be managed accordingly.

Beautiful room in a fantastic hotel. The reception staff is very helpful, always a quick service. Location is great, train station a few minutes walk, several restaurants within minutes walking. The bakery next to the hotel is very expensive bit there are plenty opportunities for breakfast nearby. In 10-15 you walk over the Sint Servaas bridge to the city center.

A beautiful hotel with a lovely design throughout — the hallway, the room, basically everything. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was good, freshly made fried egg.

Rooms are disgraceful, lighting poor and sink in the room! Extremely overpriced, we feel absolutely robbed! Disgraceful, definitely not a 4 star, more 2 star. Only positive is the lovely staff on reception who seem to be dealing with one complaint after another. And I NEVER complain. Hotel needs to either advertise with truth or drastically drop their prices. Took full advantage of the fact that Andre Rieu was in concert… truly disgusted with what we faced after the money we paid. Avoid if you can.

The hotel is in a great location. Service was by nice friendly staff. Bath + sink in the room is very weird and shouldn't be. Later I saw you can choose separate bathroom room. For 1 night it was ok. Breakfast was very minimal.

Worst bed ever. The mattress is extremely soft but paired with very stiff pillows (why would you need 4 of the same super stiff pillows?) which combines to create an extremely uncomfortable position and makes for sleepless nights. The main thing you're looking for in a hotel is sleep, so that's a major failure. On top of that the entry are was undergoing renovations, creating different closed off areas every day. Long check-in process because some stuff wasn't working for the people ahead of me. The bathroom was good and clean at least. Do not recommend.

The hotel location is perfect, next to the station and the breakfast was excellent, but there are things that I have to say, first there was a "clean" towel with some rests of lipstick in the bathroom, I guess because the laundry temperature was not very high... the noise at 5:45h on Friday morning in the street from a lorry carrying things (laundry bags, food... whatever..) , the shower was not working the hot water only was only little warm... if you don´t ask for cleaning services they skip it, which for a 4 star hotel is ridiculous.and finally I paid the breakfast for the two days during my check-in and they asked me to pay it again in the check-out, the receipt of the card was not provided the first day ,I asked but the men told me that he will provide it to me with the invoice. At the end they did not charge again the breakfast but this kind of things are not pleasant. To be honest, I expected more for a 4 star hotel.

The rooms are arranged in a peculiar way: sometimes the bathroom is right in the middle of the room or completely open, and the styles seem poorly coordinated. I had requested the beer package a month in advance and sent a reminder a week before our arrival. The staff confirmed everything would be ready, but when we entered the room the package was not there. At reception I encountered a bit of confusion: the girl was speaking in Dutch with her colleague while I tried to understand what had happened. I politely asked her to speak in English, but she just answered “I’m connecting with my colleague”.” In the end, I proposed that they keep the cost of the package and offer me an upgrade instead. The guy at reception and the afternoon team were very kind, and they even refunded me the cost of the package. However, the initial handling of the situation was unprofessional. The girl eventually spoke English without any problem: she could have simply said right away that she was not comfortable with English and that her colleague would help translate. I would have understood perfectly well.

This year for The European Fine Art Fair, we selected Designhotel Upon check-in, we were advised there was a free TEFAF city-shuttle departing every 30 min, starting at 10:30am and hotel parking was located at the garage at the train station - which was a couple of blocks away. 14€ / day However the following morning as we inquired after the shuttle, the girl at the desk acted like she did not know what we were talking about and was adamant there was no shuttle, only a paid-BMW service - turned out that the hotel itself was not participating in the TEFAF free shuttle but one of the hotels down the block down was participating .....it would have been nice if you had directed us there instead of making us pay for transportation - needless to say we found the free shuttle to take us back, and walked the half-block Our room was directly beside the elevator so we heard hallway noises most of the night but luckily neighbors were relatively quiet. Soft, bouncy, beds that were fairly uncomfortable but given we were only there for 2 nights, it was no big deal. The heating was super strong & we ended up opening the windows. Water pressure was decent and aside from the shuttle mishap, it was an A-OK stay. We would ask for a room away from the elevator if considering a future stay but would check out other hotels first

Great hotel in a great area in the city of Maastricht. Clean an decent rooms, nice in-house restaurant, friendly staff, comfortable. Located in a hipster neighborhood with the famous 'Vrijthof' on walking distance. A good choice for a nice couple of days in this lovely city.

Nice room, nice bed, a bit strange but nice interior. The shower is only separated from the bed with a glass wall and the sink is in the entrance outside the bathroom. So I recommend if you share room with someone that you're comfortable with that person. Location is perfect with only approx. 150 m from the train station and then only short walks wherever you wanna go during your stay in Maastricht. Breakfast 15 € is a bit expensive for what you get but it's ok. We took it the first day before we knew the city and we're not sorry but not happy about it either. We would definately book this hotel again.
