The airport is large yet surprisingly easy to navigate. It boasts a wide variety of shops, making layovers enjoyable. The security measures are thorough, ensuring a safe experience. Moving between gates is seamless and efficient, making for a stress-free journey. Shopping at the Airport is another delightful experience. With a plethora of high-end boutiques and duty-free shops, you can find everything from luxury goods to local souvenirs. The diverse dining options cater to all tastes.

Google
Amazing airport, main aereal door to the eternal city. Clean and clear atmosphere mainly dominated by white colors. Despite it's vast size it's very well organized and instructions are easy to follow. Surprisingly, prices of some of the snack bars in Terminal 1 (European low cost flights) are really affordable for being an airport not more than 10% vs usual street restaurants.

Google
My new favourite airport, hundreds of shops and places to eat in the departure lounge. More like a shopping mall than an airport. In arrivals at T3 a monorail brings you to passport control and the baggage carousels. All the automatic passport machines for EU passengers were working perfectly too. Note that when catching a taxi outside the airport has a 'taxi zone' for charging purposes a taxi to anywhere in Rome is the same price (around the €50 mark) which is reasonable if travelling to the far side of Rome, not so great if you're staying 3km away in Fiumicino.

Google
The only issue is the long queue in the passport checkpoint. you should be there more than four hours before your flight.. But overall Rome's international airport is fantastic! It offers upstairs dining, lounges and options for food on the go, as well as sit-down hot meals to enjoy. We arrived three hours early and were able to walk around and enjoy the new section built a few years ago. You can buy anything from high-end items to simple gelato. It was a very nice experience!

Google
Not a big airport yet easy to navigate and with all you need when flying to or from Rome. Close to the city, I recommend to take the express train that connects the airport to the city. You can fina many restrooms, restaurants and shops. The security can be improved especially in the outside area. Snitjers should smoke in the smoking areas.

This is my second time in this airport and I think it is a good airports, it has all the facilities you will need. I only gave it 3 stars because the seats are uncomfortable if you have a long wait or staying there at night, all the seats are just for sitting, there were some places where you can relax but just a few. Other than that I can say that I was impressed to see at least four pianos at this airport ( 2 in Terminal 1 and 2 in Terminal 3), as a pianist, this was a huge deal to me, I had great time waiting for my flight. There was also a statue exhibition which I found very interesting. The airport is enhancing arts in all the ways possible, and I find it truly fascinating. The toilets are clean, there are all types of restaurants and cafeterias, the information desk is very helpful and you can print your boarding passes there for free if you need. There are different malls and fancy stores all over the airport, also electronic and grocery stores. There are charging stations in almost every place, it comes with almost every seat and in charging points with double sided columns. There is also prayer rooms for muslims (in Terminal 3 near gate E, and also outside near the bus stop), a detail that I find very special and means a big deal to the muslim community.

Google
Global airport with good connectivity to the city. Things to note: No way to self-tag and drop off bags. Am told the VAT refund is easy and smooth. Lots of Italian and international brands for shopping. If you’re looking for Italian food gifts (and who isn’t!), lots of good options at relatively reasonable prices. I’ve been to major airports where food-gift options are sparse.

Google
FCO Airport definitely delivered. Upon existing there was a clean restroom with four stalls, it was quite bleak and ordinary. The customs process was seemless and the staff was professional. Now the surprise comes when flying out of FCO. They also have a clean week maintained tram to take you to different gates. The airport is clean, well lit with plenty of signage and helpful, courteous staff. There are only two terminals which makes the check in process relatively easy, especially when you only have a carry on. Again the customs process was seemless and with signage in English it was extremely easy to navigate this airport. They even have a designated area to receive your tax refund on specific purchases you may have made. I was able to collect my refund in U.S dollars which was pleasantly convenient. There is a life size chess board that the children were enjoying. There are a plethora of designer shops if that's your thing. Overall this was a top notch refreshing experience and I look forward to passing through FCO airport again.

Yelp
We came through Da Vinci di Fiumicino Airport on the start of our Viking Cruise Tour of Italy. Italian Customs was a breeze and it was the quickest we have ever experienced internationally. We were met by Viking representatives, who took our luggage and escorted us to a nearby bus to the Port of Civitavecchia to begin our journey. The airport has a great many shops and we had a chance to eat a light lunch before leaving.

Yelp
This place was busy, but it was fun to explore. Eataly was great to explore and try a lot of goodies. I also enjoy shopping for last minute items here that I may have missed. Terminal 1 was fast and East to get into. Separate lines for US citizens so going through security was easy. Lots of shops and high end luxury items too. Definitely good airport to depart and arrive to. Shuttles come in and go easily, so that's also a big plus!

Yelp
My trip to Italy took me from Firenze to Roma, so it only made sense for me to fly out of FCO for my return to the US. I admit that it's sometimes hard to write a true-to-form review of places such as airports because specific of components of the trip may come into play, but I do my best to be as objective as I can. So here we go! From my view, there's a lot to like about FCO - the process to get through Passport Verification and Security were pretty smooth. Perhaps it was because I was leaving Italy, but the entire passport process was automated which saved a lot of time. Security was pretty standard, and before I knew it I was in the main terminal. The entire look of the airport is pretty modern, and I have to say I was kinda floored by the shopping selection. There were so many luxury brands with locations in the terminal - it was like I was in a high-end shopping mall vs. an airport. We had some time before our flight so I took the time to browse. While I felt the chairs in the terminal were kind of uncomfortable, that's really my only gripe. The process to board was smooth and efficient, and overall FCO was a positive part of my destination home which is all I can really ask for from an airport.

Yelp
This is an incredibly nice airport close to Rome in Italy. I love the touches of architecture they added too. Definitely seems like an Italian made airport. It's not like any other airport. It's very clean and easy to navigate. Lots of shopping- and I mean LOTS of shopping within the airport. It's mostly high end brands. Not really budget friendly. There's some restaurants and quick eat food stops also. Not a bad place if you need to kill some time before your flight.
google avatar

Maruko X.

Yelp
It's one of the worst airports I've encountered after tons of international trips. Not only the structure of the airport is confusing, but also the staff working here is terrible. Particularly bad experience with Lufthansa.
google avatar

Brian B.

Yelp
This review is about waiting on the tarmac as the plane refuels. Flying on Ethiopian Airlines originating from Addis Ababa currently requires a stopover on Rome to refuel. No passenger gets off and no one gets on (well, flight personnel due change), Apparently this is only required for long haul flights going west 'across the pond'. We arrived at around 4 am for refueling. The airport staff did a great job getting us out of here post haste. Trash was also dropped off.
google avatar

Danielle P.

Yelp
This airport is HUGE! Honestly, it's more like a shopping mall that happens to have airplanes. The duty free shopping is intense here, with a huge variety of luxury brands. I guess that would be expected in Italy, where many designer brands originate. We had about a 3 hour layover here waiting for our connecting flight to Athens. We ventured to some of the shops and got some Italian chocolates. Terminal 1 is actually Terminal A, in case your boarding pass says Terminal 1 and you notice nothing is actually labeled as such. You wait in a large waiting area for the boarding gate to be announced, no sooner than one hour prior to your departure. Thankfully we didn't have to switch terminals, however, with the vast amount of shops and terminals, we had quite a trek on our way to our actual gate once it was announced on the boards. There definitely isn't a shortage on things to do and see here! I will add ITA Airways is an amazing airline! Wouldn't mind flying with them again!
google avatar

Yelp
FCO was reasonably easy to maneuver upon arrival. I had to wait for a family member so I grabbed a mineral water at the downstairs shop. I like that the airport is not so big. Yes, there was walking involved but nothing extreme. Signs are in both Italian and English so it was easy to find my terminal and gate when departing in a hurry due to the taxi that never showed. I was thankful for the Fiumicino express that took me straight to the airport in 40 minutes. Police at the train station were good to guide me so that I didn't loose any time. When I arrived at the gate, E 15, they were already boarding. Thankfully I already had my boarding pass on my phone and only had a carry on bag. Staff were helpful throughout the process.
google avatar

Vanessa S.

Yelp
A very modern and functional airport that easy to arrive too and easy to depart from. They have everything you need in the duty free store when you want to bring stuff back for people at home or yourself. Immigration here is automated which was awesome! I guess bummer if you want stamps still though. Otherwise a decent airport where all the major airlines come into.
google avatar

Christina R.

Yelp
Wow this was a busy airport. From walking in from the train from Roma Termini, to getting to our gate, this place was very very busy. But it's understandable, it's Rome. The check-in stations are clearly marked on the board when you enter departures so we found Air France in Terminal 1 pretty fast. Security check point announced on the large board above it that the wait was like 6 min and they were very accurate with the timing. You have to walk through shops and the like, which I hate, but I've noticed in a lot of large non-US airports. We went to a lounge in the food court area so we were strapped for seating in the terminal. It was ok. Our gate was fairly far away but easy to navigate to and there was plenty of seating at it.
google avatar

Michelle F.

Yelp
This is located just outside Rome, Italy and an interesting airport to say the least. This was my 2nd time at this airport over the past years. Gate seating is comfortable, neat and orderly everywhere. The restrooms are very clean and kept up nicely! The duty free shop is huge and has so many unique items; perfumes you don't see in the US, candy confections, jewelry and cheese too! Plus the typical souvenirs. It's easy maneuvering to get to gates but just know in the middle, you have to pass thru the duty free shop to get to some gates! They want you to spend which is easy to do when many items are tempting. Service is very friendly and they are happy to help you find whatever you're looking for. Plenty of places to eat with a lot of variety.

Yelp
Rome Fiumicino International Airport, officially known as Leonardo da Vinci International Airport, was established in 1961 and named after the renowned Italian polymath Leonardo da Vinci. Serving as Italy's largest airport, FCO operates as a major international gateway, connecting travelers from Rome to destinations across the globe. With over 200 direct destinations worldwide, this airport is a key hub not only for tourism but also for business and cargo, making it an essential link for both passenger and commercial aviation. From modern amenities to streamlined connections, Fiumicino has a strong reputation for efficiency. This past Monday, I had the pleasure of flying from Rome to Madrid, and I was impressed by how smoothly my experience went. Going through security and customs was fast and easy, which made the journey hassle-free. Overall, Leonardo da Vinci International Airport exceeded my expectations in both service and efficiency. Highly recommend! With the 5 star review.

Yelp
This review is for Terminal 3, which I've been to a bunch of times. This being Rome, I thought there'd be a lot of great food options past security, but alas, no. And there's no United or Star Alliance club. Supposedly there's a Star Alliance club but it's temporarily closed (July 2024). The food options stink. But I've transited through here 4 times in the last few weeks, and I've found the lines at immigration bearable. Not a great airport, but there are far worse in Europe (I'm looking at you Frankfurt).

Yelp
Welcome to the age of automation. You pretty much have to do everything yourself. Even check your own bags in and put them on the conveyor belt?!? Now flying out to the Maltese islands, Arrivederchi! Unfortunately, Yelp does not cover the Maltese Islands of Malta, Gonzo and Comino. Therefore, I will be forced to post my reviews on TripAdvisor.

Yelp
Aeroporto Leonardo da Vinci is Rome's International Airport! It's pretty clean & super big. Customs was a super easy process here even though there was a long line, it moved fast. Lots of shops here available to shop if you have some time on your hands before/after your flight. Getting an uber here was a bit tricky for pick up and drop off to hotel. You must go down to baggage claim area and go outside to the taxi sign areas to meet your taxi/uber. We did not know that the drivers here are not your usual Uber drivers (regular people who do Uber as side gig jobs). White taxis (It Taxi) are your "cheapest" option but are difficult to order a ride. We spent a couple days in Rome and after trying to call for a ride with the White Taxis/ It Taxi, there was never a driver available or anyone who wanted to take the ride. Instead, we ended up ordering Uber Black vehicles which are more likely come but are pricier.

Yelp
We enjoyed our Tome holiday very much! From astonishing history to fantastic food, everything exceeds our expectation. Including the airport. There is not just one piano, either two BUT three!!! Never ever in any other airports! This is absolutely awesome! My son ranks the airport one off the most musical, artistic and intellectual airport in the entire world besides Vienna airport, in Austria.
google avatar

Luke H.

Yelp
A busy airport that has lots of shopping and eating options with a large food court on the second floor and most of them open as early as 8:00 am on a Sunday. After walking around the terminal, I found a couple restaurants to try out and a pharmacy that was having a sale. During my 7+ hour layover, I stayed mostly in Terminal 3. Kinda easy to get from one place to another once you get used to it, but the first person at the ITA airways info desk I asked how to get to terminal 3, she told me I need to exit the current terminal, but I found out I was already in terminal 3... The airport was clean, each time I went to the men's restroom, saw someone cleaning and if you need to smoke, there are several places to take a smoke break. Going through security was quite quick, just got to remember to take off your watch which I'm not used to.

Yelp
Leonardo da Vinci Rome Fiumicino Airport (Rome FCO) is an international airport in Fiumicino, Italy, serving Rome. It is the busiest airport in the country, the 9th busiest airport in Europe and the world's 46th-busiest airport with over 40.5 million passengers served in 2023. It covers an area of 16 square kilometers. When we arrived at FCO we noticed there was a very long line to check in. I inquired at the information desk if there was a separate check in for United Airlines. Luckily United Airlines had their own separate check in desk where there was no line. Since I am United Airlines Lifetime Platinum our United Airlines check-in went smoothly. We were able to easily check our luggage back to EWR. The airport is quite large. Our TSA check in was also smooth. After passing through TSA there are lots of duty free, gift shops and restaurants. Unfortunately United Club is not available at FCO. After the duty free shop area we had to take a tram to our international gate area. There were other international gates for American Airlines in the same area as the United Airline gates. Our only choice near our United Airlines gate for food or drink was the Autogrill, which I will review next.
google avatar

Cam S.

Yelp
Horribly inefficient. Going to the boarding gate just to wait, wait again, and wait some more just to haul people off in bus loads across the airport to the airplane in the middle of the lot. Would you believe me if I told you our scheduled departure time was overshot by over a half hour even though the airline was "on time"? Cmon we need a laugh emoji.
google avatar

Yelp
Have connected as well flown in/out of this large airport. Be prepared to walk and shop as they have an abundance of stores. For this trip it was a connection. We rode an Express Train from Terminal 3. No queue for Passport check at 9:30 in the morning. My connecting flight was in Terminal 1 (A gates) so as mentioned a long walk. That said, they do have an airport shuttle service between Terminals. Many restaurants and saw a big food court on the second level on the way to A gates as well on the second level on the way to E gates. They have plenty of waiting areas and large screens with flight information. Saw play areas throughout which is a nice touch. Multiple Duty free shops are available. Make a stop at Caffe Kimbo for not only coffee but a Pistachio Croissant. Also, try the Reginella sandwich-a must!
google avatar

Drew O.

Yelp
Buongiorno! It's been a few years since I was here for work and I am not a fan of this airport. 9th busiest airport in Europe and one of the most congested with three runways. Airport is a mess to navigate and surprisingly not a lot of food options. I much prefer MXP Milan Milpensa.
google avatar

Sherpes H.

Yelp
Summary: only 3 stars JUST because it is very difficult to find an electric plug or USB port charging outlet to recharge a smartphone. It seems that the designers of terminal 3 (T3) were too focused on the luxury experience of displaying retail merchandise of perfume, couture bags, wine, and food. And the food eatery outlets are very nice, well designed, and beautiful. And the restrooms are also elegantly designed, so elegant that one requires a high intellect to figure out how to get running water out of the faucet. But with the hundreds of seats available, almost none have an electric charger, and NONE have a USB port. To find a USB port, one must go to the top floor where the restaurants and cafe are located, and there is a wood table and seating area that was added later to let people eat the purchase food seated and from a table, and whoever did add those two tables, had the magnificent idea of adding USB ports. aeroporti di Roma: if you are reading this, please remedy the problem, and make some charging stations available.

Yelp
Pretty nice airport with lots of restaurants, shopping, and lounges to occupy yourself with. There were tons of shops and lots of nice looking sit down restaurants throughout terminal 1 where we were. We had a few lounges to choose from with Priority Pass and found the one we chose to be clean and very comfortable. Security was straightforward and easy to get through in comparison to most airports in the states. Gate areas were comfortable enough, and the whole airport seemed pretty clean. Car rental here was pretty difficult to find. It's in a different building that had no air conditioning and signs to get there were not consistent or clear. Car rental lines were long and poorly organized. Plan extra time for this.
google avatar

Chris J.

Yelp
Outside of Chicago, this has to be the worse airport that I have ever seen! Especially Lufthansa! They are SLOW!!!
google avatar

Ramesh D.

Yelp
Landed the airport , easy to navigate the airport with clearly marked signs along with English and Italian languages. The restrooms are very well maintained and super clean. The taxi wait time was long. The luggage's came out on time. The immigration / border control lines were long but got out in 30 minutes. Definitely a different experience in the airport. Just enough eateries or Caffè available in terminal 3.
google avatar

Robert N.

Yelp
Very clean airport. Spacious walking areas that do not feel congested. They have destination and connecting flight information screens all over so it is very easy to check on your flights. There is also a shopping area with some high end stores (Gucci, Hermes, etc) and some restaurants centrally located in the airport. All information is in both English and Italian for ease of English speaking travelers.
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
Very clean, large sun inches. Easy to read. Very spread out if you're coming to America. The lines are really short. Very clean restrooms
google avatar

Alfredo E.

Yelp
If you have to gay a flight in this airport... well be patient and ready to deal with a mess. The hallways are small and the crowds are huge.
google avatar

Julia M.

Yelp
I'm very surprised by the low ratings for this airport! I found it to be really clean, have extremely efficient security and passport control, and good shopping and food options. Navigating was easy, and even the airport staff were generally kind and courteous. This place is HUGE, so factor your travel time throughout the airport in when planning your travel day or layovers. Otherwise, I'd recommend! It was a great central location to fly in and out of for my Italian adventure.
google avatar

Yelp
Other then you walk a lot am impressed with airport. Fast check in once you figure your counter. Great stores and restaurants. Very clean and classy.

Yelp
This past weekend, I had my getaway to Rome. While I landed at the other airport flying servicing Rome, Ciampino (CIA) International Airport, I did fly out of Leonardo da Vinci (FCO) International Airport heading back to my clinical rotation site. This airport is pretty big, and it is very cleanly kept. Now when I saw that Rome takes the cake for the most beautiful city that I've been to, I mean it. Even the airport at 5AM looks stunning. Don't believe me? Check my photo for this place. I walked in, and went to check in at my airline. I had my boarding passes in no time, and I made my way to security. This was a very quick and simple process, which basically waved me by. I was in the terminal in a short amount of time, which is great as it gave me plenty of time to sit down and eat. I ate at Beercode, on the second floor. Check my review for them, if you want further details. The terminal was clean, brightly lit, and well organized. I had no issue getting food, and getting to my gate on time. No bad surprises, just a great start for my long road back to reality. Much like the beautiful city of Rome, this airport provides for a great experience. It does its job well.
google avatar

Anthony H.

Yelp
We recently flew into Fiumicino Airport and I was pleasantly with the ease of getting around the airport. The airport itself has many nods to Rome's history and it's people. The airport does show its age but they are doing some upgrades to make Leonardo Da Vinci airport better. I was impressed with the variety of restaurants on the second level and the many shops and including duty free which can be hit or miss depending on what you buy. The airport is very big but getting from one gate to another is fairly easy and quick. They have done a great job in that respect. Also, the airport is constantly busy but the security checkpoint does a great job of moving passengers through safely and respectfully. Outside, you'll find many taxi's or other modes of transportation such as buses and trains and some will take you to the Metro.
google avatar

Brittany W.

Yelp
This was a really nice airport. Lots of restaurant and lounge locations not to mention all of the shopping stores. It is a lot of walking however if you decided to go anywhere in Europe, you already know that. The security checkpoint was very forward and nothing that required overthinking or anything to stress over.
google avatar

Marc M.

Yelp
Large airport spread over many terminals. Far from city. Public transport not convenient. Clean modern. Pricey concessions. Clean free bathrooms. Long lines to check bags. No electronic terminals to accelerate check in or luggage check.
google avatar

Kurt S.

Yelp
Such a big airport! I've transited through this airport a few times and every time, it's a little overwhelming. My most recent transit through this airport was last month with my mom and we had a couple 3-6 hour layovers. Luckily we were able to find somewhere to relax and put our feet up. There are so many places to get food and drinks here so that is never a problem. Overall, this place is huge and a little daunting but definitely manageable.
google avatar

Norbert K.

Yelp
I have mixed feelings about Aeroporto Leonardo da Vinci (FCO). On one hand, the terminals are nice, but you have long walks. Customs entering and leaving on international flights is very efficient. Drop-off and passenger pick-up areas are fine. Directional signage in the terminals leaves a lot to be desired ... and I can read Italian.

D. S.

Yelp
We're 2 US families traveling from same plane to same car to same villa. 1 family had no kids and made through customs in 5min. Now they have to wait for our family over an hour with our car because we have a kid under 14. Way to ruin the first few hours of Rome right off the bat.
google avatar

Marian G.

Yelp
This is a large international airport. Be sure to download a translator app before coming here. I arrived at ITA Airways terminal and it was a very confusing walk to baggage claim. Once we got to baggage claims only to find my luggage was missing. Me a lot of others stood in a two hour line to file a claim for my lost luggage. The lady behind the counter was not sympathetic to the customer. She told me she doesn't know where my luggage is. I asked her what is the barcode for if you can not locate luggage with a barcode? Blank stare. I guest this the way they do business. Thank goodness I had a few items in my carryon bag. I received my luggage on the the day. The same day I was scheduled to board the Explorer of the Seas Royal Caribbean's cruise line. I had to pay an extra fee to the driver I hire to transport me to my hotel.
google avatar

Xavier M.

Yelp
One of my biggest pet peeves when traveling are dirty airports. Aeroporto Leonardo da Vinci airport is one of the cleanest I've ever visited. Definitely a pleasant experience!

Xe M.

Yelp
Wish I could get zero stars. When I first arrived the machine malfunctioned and customs and couldn't scan my face which sent me to a manual line. That was after I waited in line for an hour, and the line they sent me to was shorter. This makes sense. Now that I am departing, they refused to listen to me, wasted 20 minutes of my time, and then when the same error occurred sent me to get in the hour long line. this conduct was incredibly unprofessional and disrespectful. They originally removed me from that line because I have an American passport, so not only was my time wasted, but that was time that could've been spent getting closer to where they were going to send me in the end after all. My flight boards an hour from when I am writing this, but I was denied access to the reduced line. Beggars can't be choosers, but my God.
google avatar

Ralph E.

Yelp
As far as major airports go this is one of the better ones in my opinion. Staff is generally helpful and there are abundant places to shop and get a snack or drink albeit at airport prices (for the food/drink) Before arriving to a little advance research to make sure you are getting in an official taxi or you have the correct bus or train ticket and that you have validated the ticked (punched it) BEFORE you get on the train/bus. I still find it odd to see smoking areas in airports and this one is a bit more unusual with glass boxes near terminal hubs for smokers. It's almost like watching fish in an aquarium !
google avatar

Clarissa T.

Yelp
My experience at this airport has been a decent one. Terminals were easy to find upon entry and when I arrived, it was not as crowded as other airports I had been in. The staff at the Swiss Air check out counter was friendly and helpful. The TSA process here was not a nightmarish one. All in all, traveling business class, the time I arrived to the time I was sitting in the lounge waiting to board was approximately 45min. This also including waiting outside for the lounge to open for about 15 minutes.
google avatar

Amber P.

Yelp
Beautiful airport, with lots of places to eat and shop. Not much in the way of seats to just relax in but plenty to see if you keep moving!
google avatar

Yelp
Terrible crowds, terrible desk experience, horrible wait times, couldn't have been a worse experience

Yelp
Very busy airport that looks modern and clean now. Followed the signs in English & Italian through the airport to luggage claim and out the door. Very impressed to see a man playing the piano in the lobby and a huge Eataly. Even the restrooms are electronic and clean. However once we left the airport with our bags it was very confusing. The signs stopped once we left the exit; finding a Uber was very difficult & very congested..

Yelp
Nice and big Airport with all the things we need except signage. I got to the airport three hours before my flight and I feel I lost a lot of time walking from one side to another one because the were not enough signs for us to see where we supposed to go, I had to ask so many people and I barely made it on time.

Yelp
I've been in and out of this airport twice, Borge times there were no issues. First experience was very easy to navigate through customs. Fast and friendly. Baggage area was clean and on time. Had a car ready to pick us up, no delays. Traffic was light. Departure from this airport took a bit more time, but we left during peak time. Still things moved quickly from checking in, to boarding. Bathrooms were clean, but often a long line. Lots of food options throughout the airport. Fair amount of seating/waiting areas.

Yelp
It had been 11 years since I last passed through FCO. I didn't remember how huge it is and congested. The long snaking line to check in at United took almost 30 minutes. Then there was the hike from check in across the other ticket counters to find the security section. There are lots of signs, but not in the right places. Leaving several travelers on the cranky side. Take a deep breath, arrive two hours early and you'll be fine. Pre Check and Global Entry are not recognized here, so get in line with everyone else. After security you enter the mega mall. Here's your last minute duty free shopping. Some high end shops. Larger sit down restaurants. At the gates you get smaller grab and go food. So consider your food choices early and wisely. Very crowded on a Monday morning. And from start to depart, the airport could use a more through cleaning.

Yelp
My review of FCO Airport would be better except for a shocking experience going through security. It was crowded, etc. but I'd expect that much from such a big airport. I have never been treated in such an aggressive, insensitive, rights-denying manner as I was going through security at FCO. The sensors went off, which has happened to me before without incident. Usually it's because I left a mask In my pocket or some oversight like that. In this case, I suspect I forgot to remove a hairpin. I was turned over to a young female employee for a second search. She proceeded to implement a search inside my clothes without moving me out of the screening area. When I told her of my discomfort, she snapped that either I'd cooperate or be turned over to airport police for arrest. Even her supervisor agreed that she was out of line and made her apologize. I have filed subsequent reports to make sure other passengers' rights are adhered to.
