Leonardo Hotel Utrecht City Center

Great situation in town, a few steps from Utrecht Centraal and from the old town. Some very quiet rooms. Nice and clean bathrooms, satellite tv with Chromecast option. Comfortable bed and pillows. Good breakfast (buffet) with many possibilities for all the tastes The weak part imo, is the duvet. Not long and wide enough (single bed) . It was ok because temperature were cool for the season, but longer and wider would be more comfortable.

Nice and clean hotel on a perfect location. Rather outdated but I understand that it will be renovated in the coming years. Rather quiet but our room was located in the basement opposite a small appartment complex with balconies, I wonder what this means in summer.

I don’t like to write negative reviews, but I feel that in this case it’s my moral obligation to inform future customers. I had a bad experience. Here’s a list of what went wrong: - The TV randomly turns on in the middle of the day. Looks like an electricity related problem. It was on when I first entered my room. - One of the LEDs in the bathroom keeps flashing when turning on the lights. - The shower head can’t be fixed in its position and keeps falling. The holder needs replacement. - Walls are paper thin. Noisy neighbours will keep you awake. - The hotel is a maze. It’s not clear where to go or how to use the elevator. The signs with directions could be improved a lot. Once you know, this is of course no longer a problem - And last, but not least… I found a bug crawling over the floor! I don’t know what it is. I killed it. Overall the infrastructure is just wack and the room is quite dirty and dusty. At least not on the level that it should be for the price you’re paying. Pictures in attachment. Pros: location, mostly friendly staff (I did have one experience where the member of staff was abrupt and a little rude), bathroom was very clean and the room was adequate, comfortable beds. Allowed early check in where availability allowed and offered an earlier check in slot if we accepted 2 single beds (wanted a double) Cons: some rooms need modernising (ours definitely wasn’t one of the ones in the pictures!) shower cubicle had a curtain rather than a door which for a large waterfall shower meant a considerable amount of water ended up on the floor. Rooms could do with a bigger bin, a very small bin when we are encouraged to only use housekeeping when absolutely necessary feels a bit at odds. Expensive for what is a fairly basic hotel but it did seem to be the going rate for Utrecht Final gripe is I received an email offering an upgrade for a fee subject to availability, this was declined but sent on a generic email referring to applying for a different upgrade which also wasn’t available, the decline seemed to be a manual process so sending an email offering an upgrade when none are available as a follow up didn’t sit right with me.

Position close to the city center, very good. Nice room, with a beautiful view on the Dom tower. However, a tip: You should air out the rooms before new guests enter. As soon as I entered, my room had a slight sewer smell. After a while, luckly, the smell stopped.

I had overnight stay booked via my work travel company Hotel is in great central location, some steps to gain access to front desk. Staff friendly and checkin was easy room location was basement floor, Bit of a maze and number of up down steps along corridors to room Room are great sizes but where need of deodorisation it had a sleep smell that was apparent room carpets and curtains hadn’t been deep cleaned in long time I mentioned this to reception on check out and they apologies and made note Update : please be careful with bookings and cancellations my travel company booked and cancelled rooms and now i have three rooms charged for same night and contacting Leonardo they are very difficult to get someone that understands, i have shared cancellations with Leonardo but its like talking to robot they not very helpful

Great service. very nice people. Our room was large and had s bathtub snd great views. A bit oldfashioned but charming.

We got a great reception! And it was a nice room (with a couple of flaws described below), with wodden floor and a balcony, in a hotel right in the center of the city. So, great location. We could really use our hotel room as an HQ. Go out on small trips to see the tower, or to eat, and then just shimmy back up into the room to regroup and plan our next move. :) The arrival at the reception: The receptionist (sadly I don't remember her name) was so good with our 10 year old daughter. She was talking to her like a normal person. Our daughter got "responsibility of the key"... and also got a map, so that "she could show us things that we should go and see/do". Our daughter instantly became happier, after a long train-trip with tired parents who were out of patience and just dropped orders on her. "Go here... go there... stay close to us... come on, faster" ;) . Thank you for cheering up our daughter by letting her feel as if she had some important tasks. And by cheering her up - also cheered us parents up. That was very profesional, in a natural way. Issues with the room: 1. Get a lamp up in the ceiling. It was pretty dark in the room. 2. Change the door to the bathroom, so that it is an ordinary door. Closeable. Lockable. 3. Quite expensive: But... all sounds from the street just goes straight through those big glass doors for the balcony. Maybe, someday, change them into at least "three-glas-windows". (But at least you had free earplugs in the room) ;) Breakfast: We didn't have breakfast at the hotel. So I cannot write anything about that. But at one moment - there was some sort of awesome cookies the everyone could have, for free. And even though we didn't have breakfast: We got some things like: butter, jams, and tea - from the restaurant - when we asked for it. They didn't have to give it to us. But they did.

Formerly the Best Western, now re-branded with seemingly smaller, hipper and more expensive rooms. With a great location, nice rooms, and nice bathrooms, this hotel is held from reaching it's full potential by an affliction common in the industry: price-gouging. We checked in early, as the hotel had 20 vacant rooms. Wifi is not free as advertized, but luckily I could pick up the signal from the lobby in my room. When I grabbed a cappuccino and croissant from the lobby, I was stopped by the staff, who informed me that the espresso machine was free, but for the (tiny little baby) croissant I would have to be charged the 18.50 Euro buffet price. To top it off, when I asked for a "late" checkout (2 PM instead of noon), I was told the charge would be 15 euros. We declined. Staff was super friendly, yet complete unwilling to budge on any of it all. (shrugs). Also, the bathroom door does not close, and my wife is listening to me as I am destroying it. (I am typing this from the toilet as the espresso was stroooong!). The experience was not negative, but the Hotel's refusal to venture even an inch beyond the call of duty makes this hotel's motto ("True Spirit of local Hospitality") kinda funny.

While the location of this hotel is awesome... the hotel itself is quite awful. If television reception is important (the Netflix they boost about on their website was not working and the reception for other channels was terrible); if use of the safe is important (the safe did not work and although the young girl apologized several times but basically was not equipped to fix the safe and had no plan in place to remedy the situation); if a hair dryer is important (they have hair dryers on the wall in the bathroom... it did not work at all... called the front desk to ask if someone could fix it... his reply, no one is available and they have no spare hair dryers!); if being able to close your bathroom door and have privacy while using the toilet OR if a comfortable bed which does not sink in the middle is important OR if you want to sit in the lobby on a couch which is COMPLETELY broken and sunk in... this is not the hotel for you. I don't leave a lot of reviews but this TERRIBLE quality of hotel inspired me to help others. Do not stay here.
