Leopold Cafe is one of Mumbai’s most iconic and historic cafés, known not just for its food but also for its deep connection with the city’s past. The food and drinks are good in taste and reasonably priced compared to the location and popularity of the café. They offer a wide variety of options, including Indian, Continental, Chinese food, snacks, and beverages, making it suitable for all kinds of visitors. Portions are decent, and service is fairly quick considering the crowd. The café is extremely crowded on weekends, especially in the evenings, so you may have to wait for a table. The atmosphere is lively, vibrant, and full of energy, attracting tourists, locals, and international visitors alike. The staff manages the crowd well and remains polite despite the rush. Located in Colaba, it’s very close to major attractions like Gateway of India and is easy to reach. Overall, Leopold Cafe is a must-visit place in Mumbai for its history, legacy, lively vibe, and value-for-money food. A place you should experience at least once.

So our group just finished the famous Mumbai marathon and were looking for a place for lunch and what we found was Leopold cafe. Make sure to have prior reservation as weekends are busy with wait timings of minimum 30 minutes. Leopold Cafe is one of the Oldest & Famous cafe of South Mumbai. The atmosphere here is so Lively and happy always, but very noisy because of the open space downstairs. Upstairs is quiet. The quality of food is good and service is quick with friendly staff. Mutton biryani , chocolate opium and pizza are must try. The prices are a little on higher side but worth the money. Special thanks to Tikaram for all the help and quick service. Overall, I can always keep coming to this place anytime.

Standing tall since 1871. Very busy place with exciting vibes and hands-down amazing food. Plan your visit well as there is a queue, always. Don't forget to ask the staff to point out the bullet marks of 2611 attack. Authentic items are Mutton Keema Pav, Bombay Masala Sandwich, Cold Coffee. Savouries include pasties, and desserts are good, specially Blue Berry Cheesecake. Accompanied visit should be of Colaba causeway market, a hip street market for brilliant shopping experience. This is one of the richest area in Mumbai, so enjoy it.

Heard a lot about this cafe so finally made it on a sunday afternoon. There was a waiting time to get in. We stood in the queue for 15-20 mins. On reaching the head of the queue, we realised there were 2 queues on opposite sides of the main entrance. They definitely need better process/management of the queue. Since the lower floor was full, we sat at the bar counter on the first floor. We ordered a combo of chicken drumsticks, beer & pastry and mutton kheema pao. The beer with groundnuts was promptly given. The food was served after 45 mins. The chicken drumsticks was good. Mutton kheema was average but the pao was soft and fresh. Had asked for regular water but it never came. We asked the server, what were the pastry options which were part of the combo. For some reason, he didnt answer & just walked away. So we went to the pastry display counter, waited for him to come and pointed to one pastry which we took home as a parcel. Overall we found the place overhyped. The food is at best average and not worth the cost. There are better cafes and restaurants in Colaba.

The bullet holes in the walls are still preserved as a somber reminder, adding a layer of historical weight to the place. The vibe is unbeatable: retro, bustling, and full of character. Ceiling fans whirl overhead, walls are plastered with old posters and photos, and the place hums with energy from tourists, locals, and backpackers. It's perfect for people-watching, especially if you snag a table outside on the pavement or on the upper deck when available. The atmosphere alone makes it feel like stepping into a different era of Mumbai. Food-wise, the menu is massive—covering Irani classics, continental, Chinese, and more. Portions are generous, and some dishes stand out, like the Chinese options (beef teriyaki and chilli items get frequent praise), Shepherd's Pie, or walnut pie for dessert. The draught beer is a hit too. That said, the food is solid but not exceptional—it's more about the experience than gourmet dining. Expect hearty cafe fare rather than fine cuisine.

Leopold Cafe was amazing. Great food, awesome staff, amazing environment. I personally loved the upstairs seating more than the downstairs seating. But it is so overpriced we were shocked by the bill but I guess it’s a once in a while expense but don’t go if you think it’s cheap! Hahaha That being said everything we ordered was amazing, spot on, from the chicken to the mutton to the meat. And the garlic bread with cheese just hit the spot. There is a round about circle just before you go towards Leopold cafe called REGAL PAY AND PARK and they have a pay and park there that is super easy to walk from. It was not to expensive and they park the car for you and give you a receipt to come back and collect your car so keep that safe!

The chicken garlic sizzlers were good and recommended. The butter chicken pizza was good. The cheesecakes are good. But it’s same as I would get in other restaurants and maybe for a cheaper price. Bit expensive for the quantity.It’s too crowded almost always and hence it’s difficult for the staff to be available when u want them. I would say a one time experience.Apart from its historic importance we did have fun.

Worth visiting once. The cafe is most of the times crowded. Extremely pricey . The food , drinks and even deserts. The cafe definitely has old school vibe + the bullet marks from the attacks are still visible. The food could have been better . The dessert was good though.
