L'Ermitage Mont Saint Michel

We had the hotel to ourselves for the 2 nights we stayed at L’Ermitage, so our experience was extra special and the service incredibly intimate. Other travelers shouldn’t reasonably expect the same level of service, but you can rest assured that you will be well cared for and comfortable. My only caveat is the WiFi. It was spotty when we arrived and stopped working entirely the next day. If you require consistent high speed internet during your stay, you may need to reconsider. But if internet isn’t an issue, there isn’t a better place to stay near Mont St Michel.

We recently stayed at this property and, while the staff were friendly, I left feeling the experience didn’t match the 5-star status it advertises I felt somehow taken for a ride and money wasted , more like paying 5 Star rates for a good 3 Star Hotel.||Despite charging premium rates, there is no 24-hour service as one expects in a 5 Star, no pool , no spa which to be fair they do not offer on the website so one should of been aware we didn’t pay attention so our fault there .The owner said he could wake up and serve if we wanted though . Its more the fact this is NOT 5 Star ||The “full breakfast buffet” promoted by them is very limited in reality – basic items like fruit juice, bacon, fruit platters and other staples have to be specifically requested.There is a tiny buffet board. Pastries are limited to croissant and chocolate croissant , this is France we expected more , and have stayed in France for a month at much better hotels at the 4 Star level …The family room we booked was relatively small, with a tiny verandah that offered little privacy, as people could easily see into the room.||Linen was good quality the rooms were clean with a nice large bathtub and shower .There is a lack of space to hang or store clothes , no place to put your soap if in the bath . Again simply not 5 Star. ||The restaurant menu is pricey, but the food itself was nothing to write home about very bland. We found some nice restaurants close by much cheaper and excellent food.||While the staff were welcoming and did their best, the overall product is nowhere near the standard or value promoted or advertised . This is a case of over promising and under delivering in a major way leaving one feeling taken advantage of !

This is NOT a 5 Star Hotel by any means. No pool , no spa , certainly not 24/7 services available , poor internet all with a 5 star price tag . Room’s are clean , staff friendly , but it lacks in storage space and has 7 rooms to choose from so is quiet which is great . Breakfast is a buffet but you have to ask for most basics , there are croissant and with the option of chocolate one but this is France what about the rest if you’re charging 5 Star and claiming to be 5 Star ? Bacon we asked for and it was available the following day . Omelette plain only until we again said we want added onion etc but the following day . The restaurant is highly priced food was average in our view. We found plenty of other place s to eat out that were great and a fraction of the cost.

First of all, this is not a five star hotel by any measure. The hotel is tiny, barely has any staff on service at any given time, no spa, no pool, no gym, the air conditioning is a not a real air conditioning. We took a suite and the bedroom was not air conditioned, in the middle of the summer?! For 1000€ we expected something totally different. As we told the staff about the bedroom not having AC we were told that we are wrong, and the hotel owner was incredibly rude, he shouted so loud at us, that our toddler started crying. I seriously recommend finding a different hotel.

This is truly a luxury hotel and a total experience for our family. We were here for two nights to see the abbey and we were fortunate enough to be able to stay here. Our rooms were large (dated but comfy and with a terrace) and the guest experience was a 10! From. He kin to checkout we were catered to and barely had to ask for anything and we had it. Werner is amazing as is the Concierge. The restaurant food at night was phenomenal!!! I hope we are able to return one day because this is an incredible small but luxurious hotel.

We were guests at the restaurant, not staying at the hotel.|The welcome was fulsome, the staff super helpful, the setting delightful. However we were instantly bombarded with an offer of champagne and caviar on a trolley pushed to our table. It was invasive. Secondly I'm no fan of pets in restaurants but there were two dogs with separate customers, one being held in the customer's arms with its paws on the table. I noticed no attempt to correct this from the staff. Were the customers perhaps too important or too rich?|Our meal (dinner) itself fell far short of expectations. The starter of asparagus was good. The main course, however, of pre sale lamb, was just this side of edible. The lamb, supposedly amongst the best in the world, was overcooked, dry, barely warm and small. It had a slightly unpleasant taste. The accompaniment was a round white mash, which according to the menu was lingot beans, tasted like a rather unpleasant potato puree. It was dry, stodgy, barely warm again and needed a double swallow. Apart from this there were no vegetables. The dessert, however, of white chocolate and pear, was excellent.|My wife and I stayed 4 days in the Mont St Michel area, ate at 5 different restaurants, and this was definitely bottom of the list as well as the most expensive. The place is pretty, elegant, and classy, and the staff friendly, but the word 'pretentious' springs to mind, and if only the food could have matched the surroundings and the service

We arrived at Pontorson station by train and planned to take a taxi, but there is no Uber here, and we were kindly welcomed.Everything was very hospitable and delicious, a wonderful place, I would recommend it to all my friends.

Amazing service, location is close to mont saint Michel (but not too close: you’ll need them to drop you off to the shuttle and then jump on the crowded -but clean- shuttle). The room is beautiful (we got the duplex) but not too stylish (I know I’m being very picky, but that’s what you end up being when you travel all your life).
