Les 110 de Taillevent - Review - Marylebone - London - The Infatuation

"We’re still struggling to pronounce the name of this place, but all you need to know is that it’s an excellent modern French restaurant in a space where you’ll feel like you’re having dinner inside the world’s largest wine vault. Les 110 de Taillevent is all about the finer things in life, and is there as a perfect spot for people who have already figured out that the best things often involve great wine, a comfortable place to sit, and stellar food. Speaking of food, the cuisine here is unabashed Gallic fine dining, with luxury ingredients like foie gras and truffles all over the menu – and the execution is never less than flawless. It costs, but we’ve never been disappointed, and it’s an experience that’s worth the price of admission. It’s a good call for a special occasion, and your parents will love it, too." - David Paw

Les 110 de Taillevent

"Ornate high ceilings and deep green banquettes create an elegant look for this formal French restaurant, which is more food orientated than the Paris original. Attractively presented, modern French dishes are accompanied by an exceptional wine list, which includes Château Lafite Rothschild back to 1897 and Château d'Yquem back to 1924. There are also 110 wines available by the glass, with 4 different pairings (covering 4 price brackets and 2 sizes), suggested for each dish." - Michelin Inspector

Had the pleasure of catching up with a great friend from B-School, who happens to be the head of a global team and made a quick stop with family in London for just one night to see me and brought me my favorite tea from U.S. I truly enjoyed the delightful experience. Marco, a true wine connoisseur, shared that the store carries over 3,000 references—OMG, someone would absolutely love that! Sadly, I don’t think I’ll have the chance to visit this place with him again as he passed away, so sadly…. Big thanks for the great service, the power bank, complimentary treats, and desserts. If you’re a wine lover seeking a quiet yet chic spot to spend quality time with friends or family, I highly recommend this place!

This place is incredible - the most delicious and best value set lunch menu my husband and I have ever had! The langoustine spelt risotto in particular was amazing. Generally the staff were super friendly and great service all round. Highly recommend, we will be trying to go back as soon as possible!!

Great experience but dessert was a little disappointing. Shame as this is the part you remember the most!

I was just looking through my photo album and came across pictures from my visit to this restaurant in London last year. Wow! Even after dining at many restaurants of similar or even higher price points since then, none of them could match the presentation, taste, service, and ambiance of this place. This is truly one of the best restaurants in London, and I would definitely return on my next visit!

Google
An absolute perfection - a fabulous mix of tastes of high French cuisine. Wonderful atmosphere. Really enjoyed the evening. The only slight thing that would have made it better would have been the waiter not splashing water and wine over me, removing the bottle away as he finished pouring.

Just beautiful! Delicious food and impeccable service! Well done to all the team involved, thoroughly enjoyed it! I recommend the tasting menu paired with wines, great way to enjoy the best the restaurant has to offer.

Yelp
Decent overall. Very good food, pretty small sized and casual interior, 110 wines by the glass and a fun sommelier to talk with them about. Narrow menu, make sure you read it before coming to be sure you can find things you'll like. Very good service. You can go a little crazy with the wines by the glass (as I did) and ergo drop some money -- but on wines you're unlikely to find by the glass anywhere else. Only downers: couple next to us had some ongoing fuss and they ran out of their "signature" dish for dessert: tarte tartin. And when there only three items on the dessert menu and one is tarte tartin, that's kind of a big deal. (And how do you run out of apples again?)

Yelp
Les 110 de Taillevent is my new favorite hidden gem in the city. The establishment is a sister restaurant of Le Taillevent, a 2 Michelin Star restaurant in Paris that has served as a bastion of culinary and vinocultural excellence since 1946. Though seemingly straightforward, the concept at Les 110 requires thoughtful composition: 110 bottles of wine are available by the glass. I went for a tasting of four red wines (all French) with accompanying charcuterie and dessert. Throughout the evening, I was kindly guided by Head Sommelier Imre. Not only did I find it helpful to compare tasting notes, I also really enjoyed listening to Imre's explanations behind different growers' histories and philosophies. Tasting different varietals in 75mL side by side, I found myself able to discern the differences on nose and palate, both upon bottle opening and evolution of the evening. Each glass was also served with a short note detailing the wine, which can be kept as a memento. I appreciated that all 110 of these bottles are stored using Coravin and that the sommeliers taste the wine before serving to make sure it's not corked. Highly recommend to any wine enthusiast and already looking forward to my next visit!

Yelp
This was a different experience at this restaurant to be sure. We've been here many times pre-pandemic. This was our first visit post. To be fair, a lot of restaurants struggled to survive and have not gotten in full swing. Having said that... The atmosphere was tense. The staff seemed stressed and afraid of "Chef." The restaurant only had two to three tables seated at any one time while we were there. As in, "Chef recommends...," "Chef will not be pleased...". Here are my thoughts on this. "Chef" is always a person and should use their name behind the title chef and referred to in third person. "Chef recommends..." actually means, "Chef demands...". I respect the training and dedication a chef devotes to their art; however, unless "Chef" is paying for the meal, I get to decide how my meat should be cooked for me. The wine per glass with each meal is a great concept, but the quality offered is lacking and overpriced per glass. Consider asking for the vegetarian menu in addition to the regular menu at restaurants. I am not a vegetarian, but the dishes offered can be one of the best items on the menu. The potato and Granny Smith appetizer was absolutely amazing! Would highly recommend. The Hereford Sirloin was a bit tough and fairly tasteless which was disappointing. My daughter got the same entree medium rare as "Chef recommends" and hers was tough as well. The chocolate dessert was light and yet rich. Very nice. When we were leaving, we asked the manager if he could call a black cab for us and he said they no longer do that for customers.

Yelp
Really lovely restaurant with fantastic set menu. Amazing wine selection and knowledgeable sommelier. The worst thing I can say is that one dish was bland. But otherwise the meal was well executed. Service was on par with the food.

Yelp
Good idea - tasting done right. I am a novice in wine so have no idea what wine works with what dish. It was enlightening to come across an establishment that made this choice easy by giving a selection of wines, with different prices and 2 sizes, for each dish on the menu. Well done! The evening did not start well for us as the rain had been sudden and we were left standing at the door which had yet to open at 6. A call later the door was opened and we were in the peaceful and elegant restaurant. The lighting was done perfectly and we were seated quickly and had ordered our food within 10 minutes from the menu opting for 3 courses for £25 over the 2 for £20. This was fantastic value so close to Oxford Street. My first course of Jerusalem artichokes came with a delicious soft textured cream which complemented the crunchy hazelnut and the mean bits of artichoke. I washed this down with a more expensive white that was a perfect complement.. these people obviously know what goes with what. My Veal blanquette was a home cooked special in my eyes. A thick sauce perfectly complemented the veg and veal. I could not say the same for the Dover sole my wife had which was very "fishy". Was it a bit off. .. we were too innocent to think so and continues to eat. The dessert was probably the best value as it was large compared to the mean starter and main. However in all cases, apart from the fish, it tasted good. Well worth a try provided you realise that your £25 budget will be blown away with each fine glass of wine you drink.

Yelp
An amazing meal from start to finish! This Scottish langoustine raviole with carrot purée was one of my favourites, and looks stunning. The restaurant has a very smart interior, having the same architect as it's namesake in Paris. The bar wall is lined by blue/green glass bottles and wood panelling throughout gives a classic feel. The staff were immediately both welcoming and informative, and was excellent throughout the night. The seasonal tasting menu was just right for the cold autumn/winter . The foie-gras, passion fruit, mango & toasted brioche was the perfect combination. The diver scallops were cooked with butternut, walnuts & chestnuts and was surprisingly delicious. Another highlight was the Scottish saddle of venison, which was tender and game-y, served with the richest veneer sauce, yum! The first dessert of coconut & mango combo was refreshing, and finishing the meal with a masterful chocolate creation. Their name comes from having 110 wines on their books (!), too bad I don't have the enzyme to try all of them. But all I need is a Gruner Veltliner and I'm happy!

Yelp
The manager was rude and not customer service oriented. If they want to have offerings at these prices they may want to have a training for the management staff so they treat each person walking in the door properly.

Yelp
We came here for dinner last night and I'm very glad we did. The restaurant has a cozy, elegant, and romantic feel -perfect for a date night! The food and wine pairings were delicious. I'm not entirely sure that I liked how the name of the wine was put on the glass but it was a helpful reminder when the next glass came and I was not finished with the previous one. We ordered the foies gras to start. I had the lamb and my boyfriend ordered the beef filet. Both were delicious, but I liked the lamb dish more. Overall, a great place to enjoy a dinner in London!

Yelp
I really enjoyed this restaurant with my family. The beef fillet I got was DELICIOUSSSS and the tomato appetizer was GREAT too! And if one's not a wine connoisseur and doesn't know what wine pairing is best with a certain food, then not to worry cuz the menu has wine pairing recommendations next to the item on either side of the menu. The tomato was my favorite out of all my courses (it comes with so many different little things in one course)

Yelp
Came here for dinner on a Tuesday, there was a decent crowd and the restaurant was nearly full. Service was on a different level, perfect. The wine system here, wine by the glass, colour coded to show the best wine pairing combos, allows for you to try multiple wines. The food, was fantastic all round. Our dishes inclided the green vegetable risotto and langoustine ravioli, both cooked perfectly. For the mains, the cod as well as the veal t-bone. The veal was to die for, juicy and seasoned well, plus the sauce was amazing. The mash potato was so buttery and delicious. The dessert and coffees, if you have room by this point, should also be tasted. The atmoshpere is warm and inviting but also not so loud but if you're looking for top level service and tasty food, it's worth checking this out!

Yelp
Top notch food. Creative, reasonably priced and good wine pairings. Recommend the specialty meals and get the sommelier to match wines. One of my top 10 experiences.
