6 Best Day Trips from Barcelona, and the Itinerary to Know for Each | Condé Nast Traveler

"You may need to close your eyes before arrival; such are the swirling, neck-straining mountain roads that make you feel like you’re traveling in the original DeLorean. When you open them, perched sky high above the vista of Cadaqués, you simply utter something else very cheesy, like: “wow."" Then double-check that you put your car’s handbrake on. The hotel—a series of white villas amid cacti—stretches out like a tiny hamlet. Come for the incredible breakfast, hospitality, and view, and stay for the swimming pool with gleaming turquoise waters and sun deck." - Gemma Askham,Jessica Benavides Canepa

Our friends treated us to a few days in Cadaques, and they had stayed at Les Arrels in the past. The view is spectacular and really does take your breath away when you arrive, would say the best view from a hotel in Cadaques. Location isn't ideal for everyone, as it's high up out of the town - so you'd have to drive or master the the hills / steps but this did not bother us. Rooms are adequate but I would say having a shower in our room made it very hot and the air con wasn't really helping. Also the steps in our room were a little treacherous, especially in the night. Shower was good and beds were comfortable although a little hard for my personal taste. Breakfast was very good with some of the best homemade cakes and delicious freshly squeezed orange juice. You really didn't need to have any lunch after their breakfast. My only tiny criticism is the family team are very welcoming but I did feel sometimes like I was asking for too much when I asked for an extra coffee or something slightly different. Didn't always feel like we were made to feel welcome. However, I would recommend this hotel to those who want the best views of Cadaques.

The best thing about the hotel is the view. Seated right at the top of Cadaqués you get to see the whole town center. The breakfast was wonderful and the service was great. The family really does try to accommodate requests. Suggestions: The room is basic. No coffee no tea. The TV in the room provides only Spanish channels and it’s not conducive to non Spanish speaking guest. There is no wifi available in the room so if you do not understand Spanish you will have to find other ways to get through the night. I tried to stare at the view but got bored after a while. I guess I should have brought a book. Luckily for me I sleep early (7.30pm) so the night wasn’t too long. Therefore, if wifi is provided, I feel will take the hotel up several notches and appeal to the general tourist more.

Absolutely loved our stay at Les Arrels Hotel Cadaqués, everything about this place is amazing. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and effortlessly elegant. Breakfast was a delight in the morning, fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and enjoyed with a view that’s nothing short of breathtaking. The panoramic scenery from the hotel is truly unforgettable. One of our favorite spots was the rooftop bar, perfect for a sunset drink while soaking in the serene landscape and great singer! A peaceful retreat that we will definitely come back to. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Cadaqués🩵

Our time at Arrels Hotel Cadaqués felt like stepping into a dream. Nestled above the sea, with its soul-stirring views, this family-run haven welcomed us with open arms and hearts. It was not merely a place to stay, but a place where memories are woven into the fabric of love. Each morning greeted us with a breakfast of homemade treasures, crafted with such care that every bite tasted of tradition and tenderness. And then came the evening when the family themselves filled the air with music so unforgettable, it seemed to echo the rhythm of our own hearts. For us, two young lovers on our first journey together, Arrels was more than a hotel — it was a sanctuary of romance, a stage upon which our story blossomed beneath the Catalan sky. This is not just a destination, but a place where love lingers, where the soul sighs, and where we long to return.

An amazing stay! The views from the hotel are amazing. The breakfast was fantastic, the room clean and quiet, and the hosts were wonderful. We enjoyed the walk into town, but it would be difficult for anyone with any mobility issues - lots of steps back up.

This small hotel was unique with its linear arrangement of small bungalows spanning out from the main building along a terrace high above the old village and the sea. The room, although, smallish was well appointed and very comfortable. Our private terrace had a magnificent view of the village, the church and the sea. It only took 10 minutes to walk the stairway path to the village. The reception person was welcoming and very professional. The porter, Juan, was extremely friendly and helpful. Our visit was very restful. We hung out on our patio and by the pool gazing off at the wonderful view. Our stay left us with great memories of Cadaques.

Carla, family and staff were all very welcoming. Lovely views from room and from breakfast tables both inside and out. Spacious grounds with lots of places to sit and relax in sun or shade. Lots of walks from the town including to Salvador Dali’s house which was extremely interesting. I recommend booking in advance but if you do not Carla may be able to help get tickets. And the breakfasts were great – both cooked selection and sweet options that followed – as well as fresh fruit salad

We stayed here for 10 nights. Carla, Juán, Tito and ‘Mama’ were very welcoming and did everything in their power to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Because of that we felt right at home from day one. The breakfast, room and pool were all amazing, but nothing could compete with the view. Simply breathtaking! The overall experience felt very cosy and relaxed. We are definitely coming back! Thanks for everything! Warm regards, Thomas & Margaux
