Great find
So we walked up and down Rue Mouffetard searching for a suitable restaurant. We started with Les Baux de Paris, but continued searching, just in case something even better was about. But we came back to it as it was the most appealing. The blonde lady who runs the place was very friendly, and very funny. She offered us an English menu - her own English, by her own admittance, was a bit weak, as is my own French but we got by fine. The waitress was also very good, friendly and has good English (thankfully) and also a good sense of humour.
There is a 3 course menu, which although called a Lunch menu, we were allowed to order from in the evening. It's good value (and the tap water in a jug is free!) . There is a "Sirloin with pepper sauce" and NO! You don't have to pay extra for it, like you do at home. I got it, and I liked it very much.
I promised them I would come back again, particularly as I was staying at the Young and Happy hostel immediately across the road. As we were out late the next 2 nights, we never did, but we made a point of going back there for our final evening, so impressed were we by them. Sadly, and unusually, it was closed that particular evening which was disappointing. But if I'm in Paris again, I would definitely go back ... even just for the laughs I had with the manager and the waitress - and the good food too.
