Les Bois Flottais (Le Bois-Plage-en-Ré, Nouvelle Aquitaine) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"In a place as ridiculously picturesque as Ile de Ré, it’s difficult to choose whether to stay on the beach or in the village. Hotel Les Bois Flottais offers a happy medium, located midway between the island’s golden beaches and Le Bois-Plage-en-Ré, with its charming outdoor cafés and lively open-air markets. White stucco and terracotta cottages encircle a pair of outdoor swimming pools, housing guest rooms with vaulted wood ceilings and rustic-chic beach decor in natural hues of ivory, beige, and sky blue. Each is unique; some have wicker armchairs and bathtubs, others have lofted sleeping areas and private patios. A leisurely breakfast is served on the terrace, and later in the day, an onsite bistro specializes in locally sourced products like lobster and oysters. Borrow a bicycle and explore the nearby coastline, then come back to the boutique hotel for a glass of wine — made on the island, of course — by the pool at sunset." - Tablet Hotels

Charming property but triple room is tiny! The smallest we have had among all the hotels we have stayed in France. Also make sure to ask for a room that isn't at the actual restaurant. No privacy, no terrace with outdoor seating. Have to pass by the diners in the evening and open your room door actually in the restaurant. Very unusual set up. However, pool is very nice with comfortable loungers and good parasols. Location and cleanliness are also good. We were told we couldn't park our SUV at the hotel when we arrived despite having big luggage as we were on a 3 week holiday. Perfectly fine alternative parking around the corner but just a bit rude in the way we were abruptly told upon arrival and then saw plenty of others being able to leave their SUV at the front of the reception?|Be very clear when booking, send an email, as to what you are looking for to avoid disappointment. Not fully clear on the website that some rooms have restaurant diners directly ouside them and that you might not have private seating outside/terrace.

My first time visiting Les bois Flotais. But will definitely book again, our room was spacious and available for us when we arrived before lunch from St Martin. The staff so hard working. Two pools which were never crowded. Ideally located between the market and the beach. The photograph are totally accurate. ||I would absolutely recommend booking half board. The chef is exceptional. We had to eat elsewhere on Sunday night as his night off!! So booked at an hotel I have stayed at before and had loved the food but truly, on this visit, the food was not in the same league. Next year we will arrange our stay on his timetable!!

I have lost count of the times we’ve stayed at the beautiful Le Bois Flottais. Over the years, it has provided a wonderfully relaxing and comfortable base from which to explore Ile de Ré. The hotel is very conveniently located both for popping into the village (fabulous daily market, boutiques and cafes) and just a stones throw from the beach. But with 2 swimming pools to lounge around, you may just want to flop on a sun lounger with a favourite book after a morning cycling from one village to another. The hotel has its own restaurant which is excellent - one of the top on the island. Can’t recommend this hotel enough.

Had a divine experience, extending my stay. The room was wonderful and food in the restaurant totally delicious. All at a price that was totally acceptable. Can’t wait for my next visit. A very satisfied customer. Marietta Pinto-Hayes

Staying here at time of writing and we are delighted.||A small hotel with rooms built around 2 swimming pools. The rooms are simple and comfortable with well thought out showers, basins etc. Huge beds, good linen and lots of storage in the 3 rooms our family occupied.||Breakfast was super; hams, cured meat, cheeses, homemade yogurts, jams, pastries, freshly squeezed orange juice, bacon, scrambled eggs, bread and all the usual. Good coffee on a hot plate and hot water for tea. ||We ate in the restaurant on our first night; excellent food and service.||This was our first 3 days on the island but we will return to this marvellous hotel run and owned by the superb Nathalie, family and staff. Excellent.

The most charming and delightful hotel - beautifully maintained and managed with efficiency and kindness. Every member of staff were polite and could not have been more helpful in every way. The food was excellent and as a group of three friends we cannot wait to find an excuse to return................

We wanted to stay for a few days on Il de Re and enjoy the beaches, and chose LBF as it had very good reviews, for the restaurant also, was only a short walk to the beach. We were not disappointed and made to feel very welcome by all the staff. There are two secure parking sites, one at the hotel and one for larger vehicles two minutes’ walk away. The breakfast selection was very good, and the evening meals in the restaurant were excellent. It’s a good base to explore the rest of the island and a short walk to the daily market in town.
