We were lucky to have some time in Nosey Be so we stayed both on the coast and in Helle-Ville (nearer to Lokobe Reserve.) If you can do both, I would advise it! This place was sweet with bungalows around a gorgeous garden and pool and was extremely quiet when we were there. The owner is very nice and easy to talk to. He knows a lot about the region and is a long term resident - a wonderful resource! |||| We saw a couple of the rooms because we had friends staying there too. Rooms were very spacious, tastefully decorated and well situated - perfect for families or backpackers of all ages. No aircon, but all rooms have fans and mosquito nets. There are no screens on the windows, so be sure!! to use repellent. Then again, mosquitos are ubiquitous in Madagascar, so it should not be a problem! :-) ||||The food was amazing - the seafood, and pork with cinnamon were our favourites. Nice wine selection too. Nights were extremely quiet when we were there and the bar closed early. There are good bars and restaurants nearby that are lively if you want an evening out. ||||We booked a trip to the Réserve Naturelle Intégrale de Lokobe through here which was good. We saw some amazing animals and had a fun, but tiring, boat trip. Unfortunately we did not get to see the primary forest - which is what we requested, but I believe our request was simply lost in translation. It was our last day, so we could not schedule another trip. If this is important to you, do your research and visit some of the guide organizations in the city. The mix-ups, ( they WILL happen!) are all part of the travel experience. With all your travels in Madagascar, keep an open mind and enjoy the experience. It is a country like no other, and we cannot wait for our next visit!
