Les Deux Tours — Hotel Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"Why book? Imagine relaxing in a four-poster bed set within lush manicured gardens with meandering peacocks, in perfect seclusion. This is a must-stay Moroccan hotel. After spending the day amid the hustle and bustle of the Marrakech medina, shops, and bars, unwind every essence of your mind and soul with a spa treatment in the traditional hammam, or by sipping cocktails poolside. This place perfects the art of wellness and tranquility. Set the scene Marrakech’s magic lies beyond closed doors; in the medina's lesser-known pockets and surrounding areas like this one, the Palmeraie. Le Deux Tours is one of those hidden gems; a retreat 15 minutes from the shopping hub, it's an oasis of stunning traditional Moroccan-style buildings and private villas, sculptured tropical gardens, and a huge heated pool. It’s hard to imagine a place that is romantic and family friendly, but this is. The grounds cover three hectares of privacy and tranquility. Guests exude Yves Saint Laurent kaftan vibes; a fashion-forward, 1960s-era, quiet hedonism that allows creatives, families, and business executives to effortlessly mix. Villas are private, so you can craft an experience that suits your needs and desires during your stay. Instantly you feel at home, in a luxury experience styled with eclectic designer features. The true delight of this hotel is the concept that its indoor existence is also gloriously outdoor; the never ending labyrinthine gardens, palms, orange trees, scented flowers, small canals, fountains, and lily ponds are littered with lounging beds where you can wile away the afternoon blissfully listening to birdsong and trees that whisper. Organize a private picnic or a candlelit dinner in one of the many secluded spots, just for two. Such simple concepts that create effortless grace and something a little bit different. The backstory The elegant, old-world style here was imagined and designed in the 1990s as a small village of private homes and villas. Over time Les Deux Tours was converted to rental accommodation, then to an enclosed boutique hotel, which is why the experience feels private yet swimming in community. The villas feel like homes where you close the door and relax on your own or with family, or wander out to the gardens and meet friends old and new by the communal bar, pool, or in the restaurant for aperitivo and dinner over local music. Designed by one of the most influential architects in Morocco, Charles Boccara, of Tunisia, this is an eclectic blend of modern Maroc Tadelakt architecture, moorish tones finessed with Andalusian touches, and European vintage furnishings. The mix of styles and global inspirations from classic, vintage to modern could have felt disconnected if not embedded in the core essence of Moroccan heritage style and simplicity. Every essence catered for. The rooms This is a collection of architecturally designed private villas, suites, and rooms within vaulted or carved ceilings, arches, and terraces. Each room, often behind a hidden alcove, has earthen walls and original features like Tataoui ceilings. Bathrooms are bejmat tile with zelliges or marble, adding local stone textures. What makes this so delightful is the interior and exterior styling—restored antique Moroccan furnishing, local artisan crafts on the walls, old Marrakech photography, vintage art-deco and murano glass chandeliers. It’s this mix of all of Morocco's past, present and future. If you can afford a suite or private villa, this is a place to splash out. All rooms are amazing and suit a variety of budgets. There are 40 rooms and suites; nine are private residences with heated pools, 11 Classic Rooms, 13 Junior Suites, five Premium Suites, seven Pool Suites, and five Suites d’exception. All have free WiFi, televisions, and air conditioning. Rates start at $250 per night. Food and drink The hotel has three restaurants; there's a globally inspired (with French, Thai, and Moroccan fusions) menu at Salammbô, and Yoshi Bar serving delicious sushi and Japanese, for the two main dining options. The hotel grows many of its produce within the grounds and is committed to locally sourced ingredients. Lastly, La Pergola is the poolside restaurant bar serving the kind of poolside cuisine you would expect from a boutique hotel: The cocktail bar serves a variety of wines, cocktails as well as top class cigars. Signature cocktails Rock the Kasbah and Live Irresistible are standouts. Room service is also available, and you can organize a private dinner within the grounds. Breakfast every morning overlooking the gardens with freshly baked french pastries, local breads, yogurt, fruits, coffee and hot meals. The spa, pool + gym Les Bains, the hotel spa and hammam, offers a range of traditional therapies to choose from. It has a two-room traditional steam bath, to experience a central part of Moroccan bath house tradition. (Booking ahead is essential.) Treatments use Nectarome products, a range of cosmetics made from medicinal and aromatic plants grown on the steep slopes of the Atlas mountains respecting both the environment and Morocco’s traditions. The traditional hammam’s scrub and massage will leave you floating on the clouds. A 28-meter heated pool surrounded by lounge chairs and terrace is open daily, and snacks, drinks and meals are available from the pergola-shaded poolside bar. There are two other plunge pools located in different parts of the property. There’s also a well equipped gym. The neighborhood/area Driving through the Palmeraie, full of palm groves and estates, this is just close enough to the souk—and yet far enough away from the buzz to relax. Guests do need a car to get to the souk and back which can be organized by the hotel. There’s not much to do outside the hotel’s immediate surroundings, but everything you need is inside the grounds, or can be arranged for you. The service Impeccable. If you stay a few days, the staff will know your name and your preferred order, special dietary needs, and favorite cocktail. The attention to detail and care just means you can relax and enjoy. If you have a special request, they are more than happy to organize excursions and special experiences for you. For families The hotel caters well to families of all ages. Eco effort The team at Les Deux Tours continuously work to create an environmentally friendly hotel experience. From organic produce with plentiful vegan and vegetarian options to sustainable water practices to keep the gardens lush and efficient electricity and gas to keep the hotel running. Accessibility Not all rooms are accessible due to stairs, so it’s worth speaking to the hotel in advance about any mobility requirements." - Mel McVeigh

It’s a real boutique hotel which was important to us as we looked for a smallish place, unique layout and rooms and personalized service. We got all of this. |The hotel is a little out of town and the beautiful olive tree garden and the swimming pool are the focal points, both done very tastefully. The shaded garden chairs just ask you to spend a few hours in the shade reading a good book. |I got a very warm welcome and a guided tour despite my early arrival and our room was, large, airy and interestingly designed with a small garden and a champagne bottle waiting. Excellent start!|Service very friendly and professional and the food was very good, I enjoyed the drinks and meals next to a fire as the evenings became chilly. |The ultimate judge of the hotel is if you are quite happy not leaving it, but of course you should, the Medina - especially for evening meals - is fascinating with its labyrinth of alleys. And I loved our drive up to the Atlas Mountains. |One small negative was the quality of the organized tours and some miscommunication on the content. Nothing to do with the hotel but the airport is strangely inefficient and unfriendly. |Will definitely recommend this hotel for a couples long weekend or a week away.

WHAT I LOVED:||Entire staff is lovely, accommodating, and genuinely wants you to be happy.||The grounds are lush, beautiful, and natural, with little to no pesticides used.||Throughout the large property, there are lots of comfortable and beautiful indoor and outdoor seating & lounging areas, places to work, read, take photos, or chill.||Even the Classic Rooms (basic) are VERY large, high ceilings, comfortable, lots of natural light, and have a work desk. ||They have a large organic garden where they grow a lot of the produce and herbs they use.||The food is fresh and well prepared, menus aren’t that innovative but there’s enough variety. They Americanized / Europeanized the Moroccan dishes a bit (toning down spices, etc). I would’ve preferred more authentic, but I think they’re doing what most of their guests want. ||Everything is clean and well-maintained, and the entire property is quiet, serene, and relaxing. ||The gym is small, but the equipment is new, and it’s plenty for vacation workouts. ||Most spas at 5-star resorts have overpriced sub-par services - this one is priced right with solid service providers. ||||WHAT I DIDN’T LOVE:||When I arrived at my room, there was perfume in the air. I discovered that unless you request otherwise, they automatically spray their “signature scent” all over your room. I’m sensitive to toxic synthetic fragrances, so I had a reaction to it. They aired out my room, changed the sheets, and brought in the cleaning staff and instructed them to only clean my room with vinegar. The manager handled the situation very well. ||Synthetic fragrances are bad for everyone’s health (contribute to infertility, hormone disruption, etc), so I highly recommend requesting that they don’t spray that in your room. There’s even a warning label on the bottle saying it should NOT be sprayed anywhere that’s not well ventilated and it’s being sprayed in rooms with closed windows and doors because of the heat. Fortunately, it’s not sprayed anywhere else on the property that I found - the rest of the property is quite natural and fresh. ||My guess is that some marketing person sold them on this “signature scent” idea, which is a terrible idea, especially for a natural, serene escape. ||For water your only option is to drink $5 microplastic water all day. And the plastic bottles are of course exposed to heat and sun making them toxic. It would be much better if they simply filtered their water and served filter water from refillable glass bottles to guests free of charge. ||Offering complimentary Reverse Osmosis water service to guests would be much better for marketing than spraying synthetic chemical fragrance in rooms. If needed, they could raise their room rates by $10 a day to cover the water service. ||There are no prices on the dinner menu except if you’re ordering the prefix, and the prices are a bit high in my opinion. Not crazy, but on the higher end. The staff doesn’t know the prices, so you just blindly order and then get the bill. ||The staff is accommodating and hardworking; however, their wait staff could be better trained to look at their tables and guests. They all tend to walk around with their heads down, so you need to work to get their attention - they’re not actively looking around to see who may need something, which is a training issue. ||With a few tweaks, Les Deux Tours would be an ideal serene vacation spot.

Our stay was truly wonderful, and exceeded all our expectations. We stayed at Les Deux Tours with three-generations-group-of-thirteen and it was perfect. The overall size (big enough to host amazing restaurants, spa and grounds, but small enough to feel boutique), esthetics (extremely tasteful, very well maintained, still personable), the amazing service (personable, but 5*. Not a single mistake in all our orders etc), and the room set up (villas with multiple unique huge rooms). |We will be back. Soon.

4th stay this year and keeps getting better. It’s mini paradise in Marrakesh and a great location to get everywhere whilst not being overly stimulated by being near the madina. Great for golfers as close to some amazing courses. Special call out to Maryam, who makes the hotel and gives it some magic. Staff are incredible.

This has been my 4th visit this year as I love to play golf. This hotel is an oasis that offers a tranquil experience from the hectic city centre. Huge shout out to Maryam who in my opinion makes the hotel. Her customer service is first class and authentic.

I had the best experience ever in Les deux tours hotel. The whole team was very helpful, friendly, smiley. I didn't remember all the names but Maryam was assisting me through whatsApp and the friendly smile of abdel karim during breakfast and the magical fingers of Jalile at the spa. The manager on duty was very kind and offered a 2 hrs rest in a room after checking out due to my late flight. I highly recommend Les deux tours if you want a luxurious , good vibes and a friendly atmosphere. Rima Masri Room 35

This was our first trip to Morocco. We booked the three day discovery package then spent five days in the Atlas/Ourika area, then returned to Les Deux Tours for a three day yoga package. On arrival we were collected at the airport (included in package) and warmly welcomed at the hotel. The receptionists were so friendly as was Maryam who was our “guest experience manager”. Maryam gave us quick tour en route to our room and indicated that she would keep in touch (by WhatsApp) and to let her know our preferred times for our included activities.||Our room was incredible with a private garden and jacuzzi. As it was late we opted to have sushi and cocktails in the bar - delicious!||Next day we went on a tour of the medina. We were asked what we would like to see, so it was tailored to our interests. We were recommended the Bahia Palace and the Madrassa. We were taken into Marrakesh and met by a lovely gentleman who was proud to tell us he was seventy years old. He skillfully guided us through the souks (great to see but with no hassle as we were not interested in shopping). Palace and madrassa both very interesting and our guide very engaging and informative.||Breakfast is table service indoors. You can eat outside if you wish and we tried once and then realised why nobody was outside - wasps! Good selection of breads, fruit, eggs etc.||Included hammam was an experience, much more relaxing on the second visit as we knew what to expect. For those who need to know, you are given paper pants to wear, but hold on to them when the buckets of water are poured over you at the end!||On our return visit we had two yoga sessions, a return visit to the hammam (special mention for Zara - beautiful singing, and her colleague) with massage and two dinners included. Neither of us had tried yoga but the instructor was very patient and we had a great time in our morning sessions on the lawn, peacocks strolling past. ||The layout of the hotel and grounds is such that it does not feel busy, it is very relaxed. The grounds are well maintained and very attractive. There are three or four ornamental pools with loads of turtles which are relaxing and fun to watch. I had a shave under the olive trees which was very enjoyable.||During the second stay we encountered the manager who was a very visible presence in the hotel and made a point of touring around engaging with the guests, checking their satisfaction. We didn’t use the pool area much but it was very inviting.||Universally the staff - reception, restaurant, housekeeping, gardeners, spa, guest experience were so friendly and welcoming. When we returned after five days it felt like coming home.

A very exquisite hotel set in beautiful gardens. All the staff without exception are friendly, efficient, taking much care to make your stay wonderful. In particular, Jalila, who gives a phenomenal massage and who I recommend highly.
