Les Maisons de Léa (Honfleur, Normandy) 2 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Honfleur, the picturesque port town in Normandy that inspired several of Monet’s paintings, is home to Les Maisons de Léa, a charming boutique hotel located in the heart of the historic center. The hotel, comprising an old salt storehouse and a trio of 16th-century fishermen’s houses, evokes the past with its wood-beamed ceilings, cozy fireplaces, cheerfully painted red walls, maritime antiques, and decorative window shutters. Guest rooms are all unique: some have vaulting ceilings and French country decor, others, accessible through a quiet courtyard, have vintage telephones and hand-painted murals. There’s a quaint wood-paneled bar and library, a spa, a lovely terrace, and an elegant restaurant with velvet banquettes: freshly caught lobster is the house specialty." - Tablet Hotels

Loved this hotel! The location is so convenient to walking to the Vieux Bassin (less than 5 minutes), the church (less than 1 minute), and a great assortment of restaurants outside the Vieux Bassin area. The hotel was so charming and quaint. I absolutely loved our room on the top floor which came with a balcony overlooking the rooftops of Honfleur. With the exposed beams and step ups and downs, it felt so unique. I felt like an artist living on the top floor of a building. This was truly a memorable experience and I will never forget how cool it was staying here for 2 nights. Definitely would go back.

Absolutely wonderful stay the staff were exemplary, both welcoming and totally professional.|We were staying in the old school house building separate from the main hotel which we loved.|The rooms were so spacious there was a large bath and fabulous shower it had a seating area it was more like a private suite. A bonus was having the garden to relax just perfect after a busy day sightseeing. |The breakfast was plentiful very good quality produce my husband particularly enjoyed the salmon I like the large aray of bread .|A big thank you to all the staff for giving us such a memorable stay highly recommend this hotel.

I booked this hotel based on reviews and its location. A few days before our stay I was informed that the room we had booked was not in the main building but 200metres away. As it was too late to change hotels at this point and this hotel had no other available rooms we kept our booking. I also booked parking at €18 per night, also 200m away. |The room in the old school house was beautiful and spacious. Unfortunately this was more like 400m from the hotel in the opposite direction from the car park. A young girl from the hotel helped us lug our cases through the streets pointing out on the way out of the hotel the spa and restaurant that were not really practical for us to use considering the distances involved. We ate out nearer to our building and fortunately had not paid for breakfast. The building we were in was also used for events. On the second night of our stay there was a wedding party and we had to battle our way through drunken guests to get to our room and endure very load music and party goers until gone midnight. I mentioned this on checking out and we were not charged for parking as compensation, but i feel that we were misled on the distances involved and the fact that the other building was used for functions. Despite being very attractive I would not therefore recommend this hotel.

Nice old (converted) hotel in great Honfleur central location. Friendly helpful staff.|Good breakfast (worth it)|But: unless you upgrade to a Junior Suite - no a/c - and it does get too hot in summer (all luxury hotels need to figure out how to add AC to all rooms... global warming is alive in Europe!). We upgraded and the room was nice and the AC worked.|No clock in room - pet peeve - I will ding hotels every time on this:|A mobile is not a night clock! How hard can it be to provide a clock?|Also, no storage in bathroom - not any place to set a toiletries bag - how hard can that be?

Disappointing & Underwhelming hotel Unfortunately we arrived at a busy time, therefore check in was chaotic and so was the area outside the hotel due to limited drop off space. We were a party of 8, travelling in 4 cars. We had previously emailed the hotel a couple of times to book car parking but did not receive a reply. During our drive we had tried to phone ahead to see what the arrangements were for arriving by car but no one answered the phone. On arrival we were informed that they had not received our emails and the car park was full. Naomi on reception was helpful & welcoming & even carried my heavy bags up the stairs! Our rooms were very comfortable but some refurbishment is needed for such a standard of hotel. In particular the carpets need replacing and the bathroom needed space for our toiletries. Evening dinner was disappointing in so far as we waited an hour before our order was even taken. We realised there was a function taking place in another room & the hotel appeared to be short staffed. There were only two people waiting on in the dining room. The dining room was reasonably busy and we had pre-booked our evening meal with our booking so it was not a surprise that we were eating at the hotel. The gentleman on duty was nevertheless polite, smiling, professional & apologetic. The waitress however was not remotely professional to the point of being rude. She may have been stressed due to lack of staff but she may need further training In her role dealing with guests. The food was good but we didn’t get our main courses until 10.00pm having sat down at 8.00pm. We have visited Honfleur on numerous occasions and chose this hotel as it looks very appealing on the outside. Sadly it did not live up to expectations for a 4* Radisson hotel. On this current trip we travelled across Holland, Belgium & France staying in some delightful places in various establishments and were thoroughly disappointed by our experience in Honfleur. Our previous hotels were of a similar rating but this was by far the most expensive and not worth the money.

This is the perfect choice when visiting Honfleur! The location is great. The amenities, including the spa, are inviting. Our room was cozy and comfortable. The staff is terrific, particularly Bilal. They not only took great care of us, they anticipated our needs We recommend this spot without reservation.

Our stay last week was perfect. The staff including Arthur and his colleagues could not have been kinder or more helpful. We loved everything about this hotel. |A fantastic breakfast which even included a honeycomb! We ate in the Bistro which turned out to the best meal we had during our stay.

Yelp
It would be very easy to drop a point off for the room amenities, such as the shower, and separate toilet facilities that we encountered in the rooms, but, and a BIG BUT, you have to understand the age of the building, and what the owners had to work with and work around without affecting the structure. I am not going to dwell on this any further, just be prepared and understand these constraints. This also needs to be clearly explained when travelling with very discerning children who are used to more modern amenities. Unfortunately, we didn't sample the evening food, but other residents we met were complimentary, with the caveat that the prices were top end. However, breakfast was varied. Cold meats, and as you would expect, very continental. Facility to cook your own boiled egg. A machine in the bar area to get freshly squeezed orange juice. I cannot remember the price for the breakfast as the booking was done by friends, I would guess in the region of 15 Euros. We enjoyed the use of secure parking, but away from the hotel. It did require two of us to put in the code whilst the other drove the car into the area before the gates closed. We had two cars in the party. The staff were extremely pleasant. The thing I encountered generally on my travels in Spanish and French hotels was getting the use of an iron and ironing board. I requested one here, and they had difficulty in providing one to our room, but they offered to iron the clothes. Which to my mind was even better, and at no extra cost. We would stay here again. It is set close to the town and harbour restaurants.

Yelp
This is a review of the Restaurant, rather than the hotel proper. We stopped off in Honfleur for a day and were casting about for a place to eat. This little spot popped up, well reviewed on various sites and conveniently located in the central square, right across from the lovely old wooden St. Catherine's Church. The restaurant setting is the most charming aspect. It is in the library of the old country house and it simply could not have been more welcoming and comfortable. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful...though the English Language menu helped quite a bit. We had the set lunch, which changes daily based on available fresh produce. So I will not bore you with the details of the meal. You can have a main and either one course (either appetizer or desert) or for a bit more, both the appetizer AND desert. For prices in France, they were quite reasonable!! We have become a bit jaded with food in many French Restaurants. The days in which you could stop in any small place and be 'wowed' have largely passed as more and more places subscribe to frozen entree's etc. But we were wonderfully surprised here. The soups, the main and the deserts (a PERFECT creme brulee) were absolutely great. So, do yourself a favor and give this little spot a try!!!
