Les Manoirs des Portes de Deauville (Normandy, France) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"One of the great French dramatists, Pierre Corneille, regularly retreated from Paris to his sister’s home in the Norman countryside. The elegant 16th-century estate has since been converted into a luxurious boutique hotel, Les Manoirs des Portes de Deauville. Many of the property’s best assets remain intact: a collection of smartly renovated cottages frame the historic manor house with its original stone fireplace, and the surrounding park, with its pear and apple trees, is wildly picturesque." - Tablet Hotels

We loved our stay here! We were here for a D-Day event in the more central/western parts of Normandy, which is the only reason I gave 4 stars for location (a bit of a long drive to reach the main D-Day sites). But again, that's not their fault, and if you're looking to explore Deauville, Trouville, or any of the other areas of this beautiful region, this is a great option! The staff are kind, the cottages are superb - especially for families, and all the local touches (especially for food and drinks) are wonderful. They have gorgeous grounds, and we loved the pool and hammocks as well. An amazing stay where you feel totally at peace in the countryside but are close to plenty of villages.

Dear Team at Les Manoirs des Portes de Deauville, What a truly touching surprise! Thank you so much for your warm congratulations and the thoughtful gifts. The delicately scented soap and adorable little bib are full of charm and tenderness just like your message. It brings us so much joy to feel your kindness and to know that this special moment is shared with such a caring team. Your attention means the world to us during this beautiful chapter. With all our heart and deepest joy. Sincerely, Kawa

Lovely peaceful stay in Normandy. We stayed in a cottage which was perfect for 3 adults. Also our dog was very welcome. Breakfast was good. And the restaurant nearby the hotel (la vieux tour) a good option if you want to stay close to the hotel. Can recommend this to anyone.

We spent a weekend in Deauville for our wedding anniversary and we stay here for this reason. The staff was very kind and care about every detail. During the reservation I mentioned that was for our wedding anniversary and we received a nice compliment from the hotel, very appreciated. The hotel is just charming and very well located. We had our baby with us and they made everything to make us feel comfortable with our baby. Breakfast is very good. Overall great experience.

The hotel is overall very nice. We had a problem from the day we arrived of there being a smell of damp or mildew on opening the door to our room. ||Despite highlighting this everyday to the staff we were told there was no smell! The staff are not friendly except for the nice guy who checked us in.||There is now a humming in our room from behind a locked door in our room which we are still waiting to be reviewed by a very rude receptionist.||If you are going to stay here request not to stay in room 501 as, until they fix the ventilation, the room will continue to smell.||We had booked a superior room as did our friends and theirs was very good so not all rooms are problematic.||We enjoyed the breakfast and the grounds are lovely

A Peaceful Retreat with Exceptional Service We had a wonderful stay at Les Manoirs des Portes de Deauville. From the moment we arrived, the welcome was warm and genuine. Tevin and the team went above and beyond, checking in each day to ensure we were enjoying our time—an attentive touch that made all the difference. Our room was in a beautifully restored cottage overlooking the pool, blending historic charm with modern comfort. The grounds were immaculately landscaped, offering a tranquil and picturesque setting. The spa and sauna were a relaxing addition, and ending the day with a dip in the pool was perfect. Breakfast was a highlight—delicious and varied, featuring smoked salmon, freshly baked pastries, and fine cold meats. Guests could choose to dine in the elegant 17th-century manor house or enjoy breakfast al fresco under the trees. Thoughtful details made our stay even more enjoyable: bottled water was offered at both check-in and check-out for the journey, and as we were travelling with our dog, it was lovely to find a mat and bowls prepared for him on arrival. Dog-friendly, peaceful, and beautifully restored—this hotel is a gem. We highly recommend it and look forward to returning.

Disappointing experience and rigid customer service for a hotel of this level. Due to a major train delay from Paris (over 4 hours), my friend and I were unable to make it to our one-night booking. I called the hotel to explain the situation and ask about a refund or postponement. The manager flatly refused a refund and offered only two options: a late checkout the next day (2pm instead of 12pm), which was irrelevant given we weren’t even in town, or to reschedule our stay exactly one week later — a date we couldn’t manage as we don’t live in Paris. We proposed a date two weeks later instead, and even asked if we could suggest other dates over the next two months, but the manager declined both. There was no flexibility, goodwill gesture, or attempt to find a reasonable solution. For a hotel positioned at this price point and level of luxury, this lack of accommodation and customer care was truly disappointing. A bit of empathy and flexibility in response to an unforeseen transit issue would have gone a long way in building goodwill — and we would have gladly rebooked and recommended the hotel to others.
