Google
nice small typical restaurant (2 floors for sit down). you can see the people cooking and preparing the noodles they will serve you. noodles are very good and meals very tasty! the bowl is also a nice piece of dish as its very deep, so you have a nice quantity and more space on table as its less large than usual. you should stop by and try, their price range is also quite fair ! very good quality for this price !

Google
Good place for asian noodles in Paris. If you are craving for noodles, this is the place to be at. Their food portion is huge, so you can consider sharing as well! Food prices are reasonable too.

Just finished one of the most amazing meals I had at Les Pates Vivantes. Service was great with an English speaking waiter, the food was out of this world. I mean, nothing like I ever tasted before. I never had a hundred year egg, and it was so special (I don't even like cold food). If I lived in Paris I'd eat here every day. For the same price I pay for lunch in Tel Aviv I can get world class food.

Google
Soup and noodle It s the most famous place to certificate from the travel magazine and media. But that’s all. The soup and the noodles were delicious, but the service and quality did not look good. I was disappointed because it was a restaurant that was not as popular as I expected. But you're the only one If you want to warm yourself up with soup, it's worth a visit.

Very delicious and reasonably priced.

Google
We come here regularly when we just want some proper hand-made Chinese noodle. The noodle is yummy, very nice texture, however other dishes are slightly less impressive comparing to the quality of the noodle.

Google
Recently the best chinese food in paris. Its all freshly made noodles. And their menu is in english and french. The good thing is all dishes has pics in the menu. Si no surprise!

Google
Service was exceptional and probably the best noodles I’ve ever had. Bonus: you get to hear them slappin’ the noodles and it’s the best. I’ll make sure to visit again next time I’m in Paris.

Yelp
Don't bother trying to get into this place if you have an American vaccine card. They were incredibly rude and told us to go away. Consider supporting any other establishment.

Yelp
Must go! We were on our walk up to Moulin Rouge when I was hit with this amazing smell, I mean utter bliss. I stopped dead on the sidewalk, causing a pedestrian pile up. I noticed the smell of joy coming from les pates and at the time was not hungry but saved my appetite all day just to stop here to eat. My nose didn't let me down, the food was fresh, tasty and amazing...and cheap! We were quickly seated in a very crowded small restaurant where they make homemade Chinese noddles in the front window. I wouldn't suggest this place for groups since most seats where for two. We ordered the vegetarian ma po tofu and Chinese veggies. Portions were good for two and we also ordered a rice. Lots of soups and real Chinese food, this wasn't a Western styled Chinese place at all. I'm happy I came back here to eat and we both left happy and full. I also took no pics of the food since it looked so good I quickly started eating. Enjoy!

Yelp
This place is a solid 3.5 for noodles. We came here on our first night in Paris since we took a nap and woke up pretty late. The noodles were freshly pulled and the portion was quite generous. the roasted duck over rice was very good and I'd highly recommend it. The service was fast and easy. The noodles lacked buoyancy. It does get really packed in here between locals and tourists.

Yelp
Not a bad Chinese restaurant. Coming from Los Angeles where there is a bunch of Chinese food, I think this place ain't bad. Our daughter has many food allergies so it is easy to stick with Chinese food. She loves noodles too. The hand pulled noodles were so good here. They also tried accommodating to our daughter's diet where they didn't put msg and etc. We tried their pan fried noodles and rice dishes. They are pretty generous in putting vegetables and the protein of choice. Our daughter loved eating here. It was affordable too. It was about 10.50 euros per dish. The people here speak Mandarin so if you speak Chinese, you can communicate with the staff.

Yelp
Hand pulled noodles tasted really good whether it be stir fry or soup noodles. However, restaurant is a bit tiny and the smell of the food does get into your clothes.

Yelp
Let me start by saying the food here is excellent. The hand made noodles are the best I've ever had. If only I were writing about the quality of the food, Les Pates Vivantes would get 10 stars. Sadly, the service at Les Pates Vivantes gives this places 3 stars and I'm only giving 3 stars because the food was so good. When I arrived, I was told to go upstairs because there wasn't any seating downstairs. Upon walking up the stairs, I was hit with the warm steam I assume came from the kitchen. It was unbearably warm in the dinning room and the only relief I could find was by sitting next to the small window that two diners had opened. After sitting at a table next to the window that was for four diners, I was asked to move. I explained that the heat was pretty bad and I needed to stay next to the window. The serve then walked away and proceeded to ignore me for 10 minutes and serve the other tables. Another server finally came to my table and also asked me to move. I explained again the heat and the serve gave in and asked me what I would like to order. When my food came, I was glad I waited and didn't leave even though the servers were rude. This is a simple issue really, please work on getting friendly servers and perhaps working on better air flow/ventilation for your upstairs dining room.

Yelp
Can't go wrong with fresh hand made noodles! Came here for lunch and it did not disappoint. We ordered 2 beers, an appetizer, and 2 main noodle dishes for 35 Euro. Cheap but Good Eats! The spicy beef noodle dish was fragrant and comforting. There wasn't too much beef or veggies, but the broth was satisfying for a nice lunch. We also ordered the beef noodle stirfry which was both sweet and savory. It didn't have too many veggies but it was still delicious. The jellyfish cucumber appetizer was sweet and tangy - add some chile oil and it's absolutely perfect. It's quite small and they speak limiited english but the menu translates to English. Definitely coming back!

Yelp
Hawt damn. Why are their reviews so low? This is the best bowl of noodles we had in all of Paris and in all of Europe. Their stuff is made fresh and has that chewy bounce that can only be coaxed by master hands. I guess that's why we were able to walk in every time? The noodle bowls here are fantastic. My SO had 4 servings of noodles in every sitting. Not because he had to, but because he wanted to. He wanted to bc he couldn't stop putting their chewy carbo-goodness into his mouth. They're not just all noodles though. Their broth is also delish. I always get the spicy beef option. We tried their other food as well. All good enough. Definitely come and try out their noodle soups. They can probably make the seating a little more comfortable. It was a little hot in their restaurant.

Yelp
Back in July 2015, we were walking by this restaurant in Paris and saw a cook hand tossing and making noodles from scratch in the front window. I was mesmerized as to how the dough became thin strands of goodness. Going inside, the bowl of soup that I ordered had a spicy, tasty broth and the fresh cooked noodles were absolutely delicious. The staff were really nice and tried to accommodate us in that I spoke little French and they spoke almost no English. I'm glad I could point to the helpful pictures in their menu to order my food. The costs were reasonable, considering the dollar did not do well against the Euro during the summer time. Overall, I will come back to Les Pates Vivantes when visiting France for a good meal.

Yelp
Randomly ran into this place while walking to the Louvre first night in Paris around 10pm. Had what I think was twice cooked pork. Food came out quick and tasted quite authentic. Spicy and flavorful and the service and price were excellent.

Yelp
Being asian, you get to eat tons of Chinese food in your life. Especially noodles. Les pâtes vivantes = Living noodles are one of the best place you can try in Paris. If i have to be honest, i will say that it is really not life changing. You won't always find that perticular flavor you get when you travel abroad and eat local food. But for Paris, the noodles are not bad at all, plus there are pretty tasty! Pros? - Large portions (for Paris, if you're from the US and are use to XXL portions, you will find this usual) - Seeing the cook make the noodles with his bare hands (if you're seated downstair) - Tasty noodles Cons? - They have day and night noodle (some type of noodles can only be ordered at diner) - The service is not always efficient, they are two people serving only. One downstair and one upstair. So better get use to waiting. - Get's quickly crowded, even if they have a lot of seatings, it can still feel a little tight. Price? Count around 8-14 euros a large bowl of noodle

Yelp
I'm going to review this place for what it is: a chinese noodle restaurant in Paris. So I'm gonna cut it a little slack. I ordered the spicy beef noodle soup. The broth was sub-par with loads of MSG and salt. However, those noodles were legit. Like, the kind of noodles you get in China legit. The owner (head chef maybe?) makes the noodles herself and told me it is an old family recipe. They also gave me tons of fresh beef! The tofu was an added plus. But it's really the noodles that give this place a good review. They were so nice and chewy and just beautiful. I left happy but thirsty (salty). I'll be back to try the cold sesame noodles or maybe a more clear soup without as much additives.

Yelp
Ok, so sometimes even in the city of love and buttery good food you need a change. My girlfriend and I were in Paris on a much needed vacation and we'd had some pretty durn good French food throughout the trip. Still, we enjoyed walking and exploring the neighborhood near our hotel and we stumbled across Les Pâtes Vivantes one evening after we had already had dinner. We looked through the window longingly as we saw the process of the hand made noodles and we drooled despite already being stuffed We decided we'd need to make one stop during this vacation as we were both big fans of noodle dishes (everything from Pho to Ramen to Udon and so on). We came back one night only to find the place closed for the day. Damn. Luckily we were in town for a full week. So we came back another night (I think it was a Thursday night). We came in and sat down next to each other as we were wont to do only to get the old "no no" finger wag from the waiter. So be it, we sat across from each other. A few minutes later we found out why. This place gets packed in a heart beat. I wasn't sure of the staff's native language but I tried my broken French and it was good enough to get us our meal. I chose the spicy noodles soup and my girlfriend chose a chicken chow mein type of plate. I wish I remembered the name of each dish. Normally I enjoy playing with the chili pastes and soy sauces and other stuff to get the right mix for my soup but I can honestly say that my soup was PERFECT. I didn't need to add anything to my dish. Wow. And my girlfriend's dish was almost as perfect. It tasted great on its own but BAM it improved with a little chili paste like nobody's business. Wow, what a meal. The downside (as others have mentioned) is the service. Slow. No really...SLOW!!! Part of it may have to do with how busy the place gets. It's popular with the locals. We had a group of about 10 show up soon after we sat down and they lined up tables next to us and really dominated the scene. Two other women next to us on the other side had a hard time getting any water or their bill although it was pretty evident they really enjoyed their meal. All in all, go here for the taste and not the service. This place was amazing.

Yelp
Heaven in Paris! I have never experienced fresh, Asian noodles as wonderful as what I had here. The restaurant caught my attention as I walked by and saw one of the chefs prepping the fresh noodles by slapping them on the counter, before dropping them in the hot water to cook. I've eaten at many very expensive restaurants in Paris, this not being one of them. It is hands down one of my favorite places and on my list to visit any time I get the chance to go to Paris.
google avatar

Oscine P.

Yelp
One of the few really good Chinese restaurants in Paris. As the name suggests, it specializes in noodles. Firm: just the right consistency. Part of the pleasure here comes from watching the chefs in the window. They uncoil a length of noodle from a large round dish, double it a couple of times, cut it, then stretch the noodles, bouncing them in the air, before dropping them into boiling water to cook. Or they'll take a block of dough and use a sharp edge to flick pieces through the air and into the pot. And of course the great pleasure comes from the eating.

Yelp
This place gets 4 stars for Paris. (In another city, I'd probably give it 3.) The big attraction here is that they make the pasta by hand. The portions are huge, there is a lot of seating, and the environment is lively. Gluten-free notes: This place is full of wheat noodles and soy sauce. Probably not a good choice for you!

Yelp
I think I'd give Les Pâtes Vivantes a 2.5. :x Not entirely sure. The first time I tried to come here, they told us they were closed. Granted, it was past 2:30pm, so I conceded defeat and left. This time, I had gone in the wrong direction, so I arrived just a tiny bit before 2:30pm - and to my horror, they were like "C'est terminé." I was almost on the verge of tears; I was hungry, I had made the trek over, and I really craved hand-pulled noodles. I dejectedly left, but my friend asked me to ask what time they normally close. After all, we wouldn't want to come here for the third time again to the same thing. To my surprise, they replied "Quinze heures" (3pm). I looked at my watch, and looked at him again. We had a few communication issues, where he alternated between telling me that it's closed and that it closes at 3pm. It was definitely only 2:20pm. I heard him exchanging words in Mandarin with his coworker, expressing his frustration that I was not understanding him properly. He finally called over someone else, and after a brief, confusing conversation, he said we could still eat. What?? Well, that didn't matter; I was delighted to sit down. A group of 4 French (or American? they were talking in French, but they kept referencing the United States and said several words in English) people came in, and were seated promptly. Nothing like "It's closed" for them. Weird. The waiter actually went over to them to get their order first. Granted, they had closed their menus, but I thought it was strange that we had arrived first and they didn't check with us before them. We were actually pretty decently dressed, too (I was wearing a summery dress with a cardigan and a scarf, and my friend was wearing a nice polo and jeans). Maybe it was the fact that we looked obviously Asian and didn't communicate with them in Chinese. I don't know. o_o Okay, enough about the service. Obviously, I wasn't extremely pleased, but it looks like the people around us received much better service. So maybe you'll have better luck. The food itself - well, I was frankly disappointed. It was clear that they had been hand-pulled; the noodles were thick, rough, and strangely-shaped. They didn't look anything like the hand-pulled noodles I've had before (which are usually pulled until they're a little thinner, and smooth). Of course, the noodles didn't taste rough; they were firm and chewy, like the other reviewers have said. However, they did not taste obviously fresh, as I expected them to. Perhaps it's beause we arrived late. Overall, I found that my hand-pulled noodles (9.5€, according to the lunch formule) tasted like a mediocre pho bowl. The broth was mild and savory (I liked it, actually), but not particularly noteworthy. It's very good if you're craving Asian soup, or if you're sick. (I wasn't really feeling either). The noodles were normal, as was the beef. They were fine, but I'm used to much better (for much cheaper, as well) in New York. Then again, this is Paris, so I shouldn't carry my expectations over. So for a lunch meal in Paris, I'd definitely say that this is "A-OK." It's not very expensive, as far as lunches go, and it's definitely very filling, but not heavy at all. My friend got the sauteed noodles with vegetables and chicken, which had a good sauce that disguised any freshness that the noodles may have had.

Yelp
Had a craving for a hot bowl of noodles in soup that I could slurp away at after a tough day at work. I was also eating alone and I had read that Les Pates Vivantes might be a good option for solo diners. The many reviews that say that the service here is less than spectacular are utterly right - service was hilariously lax. That said I did finally get my noodles and they were quite good. I stupidly waited outside as there appeared to be a line, except it turned out to just be some indecisive Chinese people who didn't even go in and by the time I realised this some chi-chi French girl had managed to nab the last single table on the ground floor (must learn to be more assertive to handle queue-jumpers!). This was a shame as I had to sit upstairs and was not able to gaze in wonder at the noodle making going on downstairs. As a solo diner I didn't have the issues of dishes arriving a different moments and groups eating out of sync but I did notice that happening all around me. Plus lots of calling out to the waiters, repeatedly asking for the same thing (I never got my drink after asking twice, but then again they didn't charge me for it) and even one man counting down from 30 to zero while waiting for the waiter to return after he had said "I'll be with you in 30 seconds sir" - obnoxious but I amusing to watch. Anyway, yes, the noodles. Was it all worth it? Actually yes they were pretty good. The tofu in my spicy beef soup was silken and tasty, the beef was a little tough but there was lots of it, the broth was a tad on the salty side but I slurped it up all the same and the noodles were good. Les Pates Vivantes is no Grand Szechuan in the West Village, but it certainly satisfied my craving. I'd go back, although I'd fight for that ground floor table this time!

Yelp
Noodles were perfect! Was drawn in on our way to another restaurant. Saw the chef hand-pulling the noodles. Sesame noodles are delicious. We plan to go back to try more of the menu. Very, very fast service.

Yelp
TLDR: get the soup noodles, spicy beef version if you like, food preparation speed is extremely fast, service is friendly. The first time I came to Paris, I accidentally stumbled upon this place and were so impressed by it that we came here twice during that trip. Three years later I came back to Paris, I came again and the quality maintains. We got the two variations of spicy beef noodles, a duck stir fried noodle, and a few cold apps. I'll break down my review: Food - noodles are cooked al dente, chewy and has good texture, soup broth is well balanced, spiciness level is manageable, stir fried noodles are average, the soup noodles are waaaay better. I would pass on the cold appetizers, they were not very impressive, but the place is known for noodles, so o wasn't surprised that the apps were underwhelming. Service - I was most impressed by how quickly the food was served. The apps were probably premade, but the noodles were freshly made to order, so kudos to the chef, it was literally within minutes! Additionally, the staff was very friendly, took good care of us, and were responsive to requests for condiments, side dishes, etc.

Yelp
Fantastic noodles! I dream about them. My boyfriend and I never tasted noodles so good but my Chinese friend Xing said she felt right at home and that it was one of the few good Chinese restaurants in Paris! I'd definitely suggest this place to pasta lovers :)

Kyle Z.

Yelp
I'm a Chinese my self so I have high standards for Chinese food. This restaurant serve very nice beef noodle soup, it's almost like the ones that are served in China, it's very good!
google avatar

Yelp
Not a big fan of this place and it could be because my standards for Chinese food are very high (I am Chinese and live in a place where there are fantastic Chinese restaurants everywhere). We ordered the beef mala noodles which was good. Their noodles are handmade so they are nice and chewy. The mala flavoring could've been better. The duck rice was mediocre. I've had better duck and there wasn't very much of it. The beef pho was also just okay. Not sure why there was pho at a Chinese place but I guess maybe that's why it wasn't that impressive. The shrimp chow mien was actually pretty tasty. Good noodle consistency and flavor. This was probably the most authentic tasting dish. The wait staff was friendly enough but could've been more efficient.

Yelp
I always search for great noodles when in a new city. And these noodles did not disappoint. I ordered N5. The noodles are made right in front of you and have a nice chew to them and are very flavourful. The restaurant is small and always full. Always a good sign. I will dream of these noodles. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
freaking delicious. maybe it was because i was craving asian cuisine but regardless, the noodles were superb and pretty cheap as well. the wait is kind of long especially during the night which is when i went. but, there is some sort of entertainment while you wait.... the chef/cook is preparing the noodle dough ! you can watch him sweat.. oil the dough... flip the dough... make the dough into strings... cut the dough... do tricks if you're lucky via the clear window right in the front! i miss this place...!

Yelp
My third time here in 2 visits to Paris. Chinese noodle in Paris? Absolutely. I can describe it other than that its original. Just come.

Cityvox User (onefin…)

Yelp
Very very good value for money I'm not an objective reviewer because I just LOVE sichuan-style Chinese cuisine. I may not be qualified either because I'm not an expert. But I love this fresh pasta.

Yelp
Dying for Chinese food after a week of French. Small, busy restaurant. Staff only speaks French and Mandarin Chinese (and very little English). Menu had pictures and I was able to order pot stickers and noodle soup. Both were very good. Accepts credit card for amounts over 15 euros. Very fast service. AC is on low so it was a little warm upstairs. I had spicy noodles so was sweating in my business attire.

Yelp
It's soooo good. Just go! Do it! Ahhh, the amazing hand-made noodles, the spicy juniper berries that numbed my tongue/mouth. :) Yes, it's a little pricey for noodles, but what restaurant meal isn't in Paris? And please, French meals are so small in portion size, one bowl here will seem positively American in comparison to the dishes you usually eat.
