REVIEW TITLE: Chic lodging on Avenue de Champagne - at Champagne House Venoge, Epernay||OVERALL RATING: Exceptional. Would stay again and highly recommend for any of the 5 rooms - and particularly the Deluxe with Terrace Room for 2. I could not have been happier with the choice after looking at 20+ properties. This is a 5 room boutique hotel directly on the grounds of the Venoge Champagne house and directly on Avenue de Champagne. Definitely splurge on the room with the terrace for 2 if available. ||REVIEWER BACKGROUND: Fortunate to travel extensively. I have done travel advising for years. We are always looking for that “magic stay” and we found it certainly at the Deluxe with Terrace Room for 2 at Venoge Champagne. ||DATES OF STAY: 3 nights in October 2025||LOCATION: The location is tremendous and central right on the Avenue of Champagne.||UNIQUE HOTEL: What I discovered researching the region is that nearly zero of the champagne houses offer lodging - that is saved for VIP insider guests. I found the exception. Venoge champagne house in Epernay offers lodging directly on the gorgeous Avenue of Champagne. The grounds hold 3 buildings - to the left the 2 story 4 unit building where we stayed - in the center the Chateau - to the right in one building L;Ecurie, the former stables, the lobby and breakfast room and tasting room very sophisticated in royal blue and gold. ||ROOM/S: Uniqueness. Deluxe with Terrace Room. Chic decor and large. Among the 5 rooms on the property, this is the only room for a couple with a terrace. The property has 5 units. 4 in one building. 1 apartment with 3 bedrooms and central kitchen (very nice) in the other building over their tasting room L’Ecurie. This apartment does have a terrace - but is not quite as private as it is right next to the public tasting terrace in front of L’Ecurie. ||VIEW: From the lovely private terrace of our room - furnished with table and sofa and chairs - you look directly to the Venoge Champagne house and L’Ecurie room. It is a stunning setting yet an oasis from the street. This view from the room and terrace is very special. Another surprise and little oasis is that behind the champagne house is a walking path through their large grounds with water features and a pond with koi fish. ||BREAKFAST: Breakfast is included with the room and is served in this stunning L’Ecurie building on the grounds, the old horse stables. It is served to the guests (rather than a buffet) and is basic but good of ham, cheese, a bread basket, and hot drinks and juices.||TASTING ROOM: Venoge Champagne at their L’Ecurie on the grounds, offers both indoor seating and outdoor courtyard seating for those who wish to taste the range of Venoge champagne products and have appetizer platters. This is very popular for the Les Suites guests and outside visitors wishing a beautiful courtyard oasis for tasting and munchies directly on the Avenue of Champagne. Because we had our own private terrace, we effectively did our own tasting and picnic privately back at our room outdoors.||PARKING: Les Suites du 33 has a precious commodity of onsite parking on the Venoge champagne grounds. Parking is free to the guests. The gates lock at night so the property for guests and cars is quite secure. ||STAFF: The staff was lovely and welcoming and very helpful. Of particular note was Christina who helped us several times with check-in and a tour of the property. She was a gem and a true asset to the property. | |OTHER INFORMATION & OUR BEST EXPERIENCES: ||AVENUE DE CHAMPAGNE: I can’t express how stunning this is at night. You walk along gem after gem of mansions on the Avenue with stunning and sometimes colorful illumination at night. Some buildings had the name of the institution illuminated in front of their gates on the sidewalk at night. This made for a stunning walk back and forth from our lodging at Champagne Venoge night or day. Epernay is much smaller than Reims so all the houses and restaurants were only 5-10 minutes away from our lodging. ||CHAMPAGNE TOURS: |Book your visits early as the tours fill up at the bigger houses certainly. There are fewer big name houses here to visit - but many smaller ones on the Avenue. I recommend a visit to Moet and Chandon as probably Epernay’s “highest end” champagne tour to take. We also went on a walk-in basis to Gosset, the oldest wine house in champagne founded in 1584 a few blocks away. Mercier is very commercial with an underground little train in the caves, but worth a visit for a first timer to Epernay for the novelty. ||DINING & DRINKS: This is a big part of our travel experience. Be aware that many restaurants are closed Sunday - then some Monday or Tuesday - so schedule accordingly. Top recommendations:||La Grillade Gourmande. Our #1 dining experience in Epernay. For dinner. I think this is many people’s #1 dining experience in Epernay. Reserve well ahead for this special cozy wonderful spot. ||Sacre Bistro. Our #2 dining experience in Epernay. We had the top floor corner window table for 2 overlooking the square. Amazing service and atmosphere. ||Le 19. A great wine shop at 19 Avenue de Champagne. Large selection of champagnes at all price points up to tops crus. A lovely courtyard to enjoy there - or take out.||And so, MERCI exceptional Les Suites du 33 and staff for a wonderful and truly memorable stay.
