L'Esquisse Hotel and Spa Colmar - MGallery

I stayed at L’Esquisse Hotel & Spa for six nights and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The staff were consistently attentive, kind, and genuinely committed to making our stay exceptional. I would especially like to recognize Cecilia, who is truly the sweetest and most hardworking team member. She went above and beyond for us throughout our visit. Not only did she call two wineries to secure same-day tasting reservations (something another staff member mentioned is nearly impossible) but she somehow made it happen. She also ensured we had dinner reservations every night, which is essential since Old Town gets very busy. Her food recommendations were excellent, and she constantly checked in to make sure everything was perfect. She even made sure our car was always ready to go by the time we came downstairs. Her level of service and attentiveness was superb. I also want to acknowledge the housekeeping team. Our room was thoroughly cleaned every day, and the evening turndown service with fresh water and a small treat was such a thoughtful touch. Overall, my stay at L’Esquisse was exceptional in every way. Thank you to the entire team for making our time in Colmar so memorable.

Superior experience - extraordinary service and beautiful design all throughout the hotel. Rooms are very new. We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed the spa several times. The breakfast was lovely and quiet. Staff was very helpful, roomservice quick. Great location to get to the city Center and station. Would definitely recommend and come again!

My overall stay at the hotel was very pleasant. The room was a bit small, but since we were only staying for one night, it was perfectly fine. The front desk, spa, gym, and overall service were excellent. The team arranged twin beds for us as requested and even delivered our luggage to the room while I was at the spa. Both the receptionist and the spa manager were very attentive, helpful, and genuinely friendly. The breakfast selection was also great with plenty of variety. However, the breakfast service itself was disappointing. I ordered four eggs to make two omelettes without cheese, but was served four sunny-side-up eggs instead, and the order wasn’t reconfirmed before serving. The staff member who took my order had difficulty communicating in English, which may have led to the misunderstanding. Additionally, the service at breakfast felt noticeably less warm compared to other areas of the hotel, and some of the female waitstaff appeared unfriendly, which was unfortunate considering the otherwise positive experience.

An incredible hotel! One of the best we've ever stayed in during all our travels! We stayed at this hotel for two nights and were absolutely delighted. The room was fantastic: large, modern, and comfortable. The breakfast area was spacious and very pleasant, perfect for relaxing and enjoying breakfast. They offer a wonderful buffet with many food and drink options, as well as some à la carte choices. The hotel also has a very nice bar and a Michelin-starred restaurant. The location was perfect, close to the train station and within easy walking distance of the Christmas markets. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. They truly pay attention to every detail! Highly recommended.

What an amazing hotel! We just finished 4 nights there and couldn’t be happier. Absolutely ranks in the top 10 hotels we’ve stayed at in any city. The staff were extremely professional and welcoming, the room was large, very well appointed and set to welcome guests. Great location close to old Colmar, the park and an easy walk from the train station. Excellent customer service for our every request. We will certainly be back. Dog friendly too!

What an amazing 5 night stay we had. Possibly one of the friendliest hotel staff we have encountered. Thank you to Salomé for a great welcome and to Liz for helping reservation of tables. All staff were friendly, polite and welcoming throughout. The rooms were cleaned very well and cleaning staff were so polite! Absolutely recommend staying here. 5 minute walk from all the bars, shops and restaurants so perfectly situated. A few (very small) things noticed in our beautiful room 310: the beautiful flooring near door is getting damaged as door has dropped (such a shame as it’s so nice); panels and handles on doors had pulled away- worth checking; light buttons near bed are sticky to turn lights on/off; blue light on panel should turn off/be covered for sleeping; hotel temperature was very hot, especially in lobby (23 degrees I think I saw); would have been nice for bar staff to ask child watching to on phone without headphones to turn sound off (we left the bar). Small improvements but I would absolutely stay here again! Great job to all staff at the hotel.

The rooms are lovely, spacious and relatively new (2021..). The spa is underground but with natural light and finished in dark tiles, very stylish. The breakfast offer is generous. The staff were all lovely and helpful. The art work throughout the hotel is great. The design/ layout of the rooms has a few flaws: the blue light at the light switches at both sides of the bed head are extremely bright and cannot be switched off, so I ended up using a pillow to cover them. These are also the only lighting controls in the room. There is no wash hand basin in the toilet room, which is at the entrance (why?) of the bedroom, rather than in a cubicle in the bathroom (this wasn't a suite). The bathroom has two wash hand basins, one big, one small - why? The shower seems large but has no door, so the heat disappears quickly into the bathroom, so as soon as the shower is turned off, you're freezing, despite the way-too-small panel radiator on full blast. The shower enclosure has a small ledge at knee-height, presumably to hide the pipes, but water will stand on it, become colder, then splash off onto the body, so one gets a secondary small low-level shower off the ledge. All things that shouldn't have been designed this way.

A 'wow' hotel - superb location in the city centre of Colmar and within walking distance to the picturesque old town of the city. Rooms a spacious and have a nice balcony, overlooking the park and the beautiful old villas of the city. Guestrooms are very well equipped with many amenities and a very spacious bathroom with separate bathtub and shower. The bed is extremely comfortable and towels are fluff and well maintained. The hotel has a two star Michelin restaurant on its premises which is not managed by the hotel but breakfast is served at this venue. Breakfast is nice with ample options and good service. The bar has a good selection of beverages and a young team who aim to please. There is no restaurant on the premises other than the Michelin starred restaurant but there are many options in the nearby old town, which is ten minutes walk. The only drawback of the hotel is the spa and swimming pooling pool. The floor is dangerously slippery, especially when wearing the hotel provided slippers and the area lack lounges on which one could lay down. The provided chairs and foot rest are inadequate. But overall a very nice hotel which is highly recommended.
