L’esquisse Hotel - Spa - Colmar (Colmar, Grand Est) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Set though it may be in the historic heart of Colmar, a stone’s throw from the winding streets of its charming old town, L’Esquisse Hôtel & Spa Colmar - MGallery is as contemporary as they come. It’s surrounded not by city rooftops but by the verdant Champ de Mars park, and its 62 rooms and suites pay aesthetic tribute to 20th-century modernism. There’s a spa by Clarins, which includes a heated indoor pool as well as a jacuzzi, sauna, and steam room, and the restaurant, JY’s, is the proud recipient of not one but two Michelin stars." - Tablet Hotels

The hotel is in a good location, near a park and close to old town. The room (not the smallest category) was nice, but somewhat quirky: the toilet had no basin, so you had to go all way round to the bathroom to wash your hands. Also some of the doors in the foyer interfered with each other, which was especially cumbersome if you had to go to the toilet at night in the dark. The light switches were strangely located as well, and you could conveniently watch the TV only from bed, not from the sofa. Other than that the room was comfortable, large enough, comfy bed etc. Breakfast was good, the selection varied slightly from day to day, it seemed that some small sandwiches etc were leftovers from previous night. Eggs and coffees to order were served very quickly. There is a garage, which we booked, but it is valet parking only, which was not convenient at all for us travelling with dogs. It should definitely be clearly stated at the website and in the emails. If it was mentioned, I managed to miss it. There is reasonably priced street parking close by. There is a two-star restaurant, which we didn't try, as we had already booked another two-star restaurant for our anniversary dinner, and two for the same trip would have been a bit much. The restaurant is closed two days a week (Sundays and Mondays), so those days there is no restaurant at the hotel. One would expect a choice of restaurants to cater for those who don't want spend at a two-star restaurant and for closures. However, there are plenty of good restaurants relatively close by.

I am preparing to check out- but I do not want too. This hotel is amazing, the service is amazing, I will be back. The rooms are up to date and sparkling clean. The temperature is perfect in the rooms. They do everything in accordance to comfort. We went to the bar, I asked the gentleman behind the counter to make me a drink of his choosing. He made a Shitake whiskey cocktail which was very enjoyable. I will recommend my friends stay here.

Such a charming and friendly hotel. Nice staff, amazing breakfast and perfect location. We’re quite picky when choosing hotel and this one surprised us very positively. We parked at the hotel and when delivered back, all luggage’s inside, fully charged, two bottles of water… small details goes a long way!

The hotel is absolutely recommendable. The location, the rooms, the bar, the people are so welcoming. Rita in the reception checked us in in the most friendly manner, cool, relaxed, but still attention to detail, and the valet parking colleague to Rita, helping with luggage and parking was cool too. Don’t wait just book. And Btw, check out their cheese and cold cuts platter for two people in the bar. It’s amazing too.

I was traveling with my husband, our 2 teen kids and my sister so we booked one of the 3 bedroom/3 bathroom spacious apartments on the top floor of the hotel. ||General|Beautifully decorated, modern hotel with delightful and helpful staff. ||The breakfast is 5 stars. It is an incredible and beautiful spread including something for everyone. ||The concierge reached out before our trip and arranged 2 full day tours with an incredible guide, Muriel, and a wonderful driver. I would highly recommend. ||There is a beautiful and modern spa with pool, sauna, steam rooms which you have to book in order to use (no extra charge). But even with booking it can get quite busy and it can be hard to find a place to sit. ||Room|This penthouse apartment is an expensive option but the common space was brilliant for our family of 5 with a fully equipped kitchen and large sitting room and dining space. We loved sitting out on the terrace with a glass of wine in the evening. There is a lot of extra space so the teen kids (who had a smaller bedroom, could leave their open suitcases cases in the common space (where there was a fusball table but no balls).||The penthouse apartment floor has its own private entrance which we enjoyed. ||Areas for improvement||Our main criticism of the room is that it is marketed as 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. This leads one to believe that there are 3 toilets. This is not the case. There are 2 en-suite showers with wash basins and a 3rd bathroom (not en-suite) with a tab and wash basin. ||There are 2 separate WCs and only one of those has a wash basin. The WC with no wash basin is very large so it makes no sense that there is no place to wash your hands. Given how much space is in the apartment it’s a strange bathroom set up - quite inconvenient and should be fixed. ||Given it is marketed as an apartment there should be a washer and dryer. My guess is that the apartments are usually booked for larger groups and longer stays and in most alternatives (airbnb) one would have a washer/dryer. We got some laundry done in the hotel and it was very efficient (returned same day) but it is very expensive. ||Overall it’s a great property in a great location just 10 minutes walk or less from all the main sites in Colmar and close to the station. But I believe they misrepresent the bathroom situation in the apartments and so they lost a star for that.

Fabulous hotel .. truly unique. A touch of modernity and design perfection in this historic town. The location is perfect, rooms are beautiful and the views are so serene. Lobby Is a work of art and the staff is friendly and helpful. My only regret is only staying here for one night.

We are so incredibly happy that our planning for a day trip to Colmar turned into a weekend stay at L’Esquisse. From the moment we stopped in front of the hotel to the minute we left, the service was exceptional. The staff is incredibly kind (and tolerant of my poor French) and welcoming. We were shown to our room, our bags delivered and our weekend officially began. We enjoyed welcome drinks at the bar before heading out to dinner our first night. After a day of wandering Colmar in the late June heatwave, we came back to the hotel and enjoyed a few hours relaxing in the pool area. Such a gorgeous, calm and quiet space! So refreshing. On our last day, we checked out and they kept our bags while we wandered a little more. Upon our return, they retrieved our car & luggage and off we went. A nice surprise to find water waiting for us in the console! Thank you L’Esquisse staff for a wonderful stay. We look forward to returning in the winter to enjoy another stay. Merci beaucoup et à bientôt !!

Reception staff were polite and helpful, as were those serving the bar. Room was clean and quiet with a nice balcony overlooking the park. Great facilities in the room including a Nespresso machine, Dyson hairdryer, and Clarins toiletries. Perfect location close to both the train station and town. Would definitely stay again!
