Letaba still has that wonderful “Old Kruger” feeling — big shady trees, calm atmosphere, and bushbuck casually walking between the chalets. It’s one of the most relaxed camps in the park and genuinely charming.
We stayed in a standard rondavel: simple, clean and functional, with good aircon (very welcome at 44°C!), a fridge and the usual outside kitchen. Bathroom was fine, water pressure okay, and housekeeping did an excellent job every day.
The only downside was the Tindlovu restaurant, where we had a very bad experience.
The shop, on the other hand, is fantastic — one of the best in Kruger with fresh produce, meat, snacks and souvenirs. The pool is great for cooling down, and the elephant museum is absolutely worth a visit. Several viewpoints along the fence offer lovely chances to watch elephants and birds by the river.
Mobile reception is better than in most camps, enough for messages and the occasional photo upload. The overall vibe is peaceful, friendly and a nice mix of locals and international visitors.
Classic Kruger charm, kind staff and a beautiful setting.
