L'Ethym'Sel

It's been the best restaurant in Macon during my visit, really a french gourmet. We took a degustation menu, which is what I recommend. Very top end dishes. My friend is a fanatic champagne lover, we had few bottles of the great selection they have. Massive wine list. The owner is a nice guy, good English speaking, great knowledge of wine and food. Definitely recommended.

Unfortunately we had a very bad experience. We are a group of 11 people with kids, had lunch during Easter holiday . Firstly on the positive side, the escargot was very nice. And we were enjoying our lunch until our friend was served with a steak which the meat had gone bad. Our friend has eaten almost 1/3 of the steak until he really felt the meat is bad. After telling the owner, we don’t feel there’s a true apology, but he tried to show us the meat and he doesn’t know why, so he cooked us another one, but the second one is still not good with some weird smell, so our friend gave up. After leaving, our friend had diarrhea on the night, and last 2 days until our trip finished, which caused very unpleasant experience. What I am disappointed the most the overall attitude of the owner, we have not feel any sense of apology , even after I wrote him the official compliant letter, the answer is standard , and seems he just want to blame the supplier.

Great service, took little time to get our order i loved the magret de canard and the grilled vegetables except for the grilled onion. The side dish and the dessert were great, the only thing that i didn't like was the soft drink.

Perfect meal with great ingredients.Could not fault a thing 👌 Pricey ,but for a special occasion well worth it.

Very nice food, attentive service. We had the "plat du jour", which for starter, main and dessert was very good value for 19 Euro. Would definitely come back.

Lovely restaurant with very nice people serving. The food was fantastic and the selection of cheeses was great. Excellent well done.

I know this place is trying to be good. Because you see it. But over all the tasting menu is not going to change your life nor make it a different experience. I believe when placed with a tasting menu it should shine bright cause you imagined a lot of effort behind it. The staff was polite but was also rude sometimes. I have mixed feelings about this place as there were somethings i liked. But an overall no from my side.
