3 Best Day Trips from Melbourne to Mornington Peninsula, Daylesford, and the Yarra Valley | Condé Nast Traveler

"Ezard at Levantine Hill is open for lunch all week and for dinner on Saturday night only. The view is rather spectacular, so why not make the most of it? Much of the produce used is grown on the property, the rest is locally sourced, and it has all been designed to showcase Paul Bridgeman’s wines. Chef Teage Ezard already has kitchens in Melbourne and Sydney, so it was quite a coup for Levantine Hill to attract him to Coldstream to oversee the menus for its restaurants. At lunch, there are five courses (vegetarian if you so desire), including dishes like salt-baked potato with seaweed butter, burnt onion dashi and sea herbs, and duck breast with confit nashi, miso enoki, turnip, chestnut, and vanilla. If you want views with your fine dining, this is certainly one to tick off your to-do list." - Carrie Hutchinson

We didn’t make a booking and the manager on the day organised table for us to dine in. Absolutely above and beyond service standards. Even more, the food is beyond phenomenal, almost licked the plate! Must visit if you are in the area.

Don’t come here. It’s very disappointing to read that other reviews also note feeling racially discriminated by the service in this place. Do better. - Food service is incredibly slow. Almost 2 hours into the set menu and haven’t even had mains yet. - Kingfish came out warm. - Beetroot dish was hot air pretty much. Not good - Wines were nice - Service not great, waited ages to even order. - Asked for sparkling water - refilled with still water after first serve. - No table wipe down between courses. - A real lack of attention to detail in this place and for such a premium of $150 per head! - Another table arrived (of 5) before us and was finished before our desserts came out. Another couple sat after us also served a lot faster than us. - We let the staff know and they didn’t seem to show much care at all stating they usually allow an hour an half for the set menu well it’s been almost 3 hours? Not good enough. To then get defensive made it much worse. I ordered the set menu and added on the pumpkin croquettes only to be served the croquettes during the set menu. It would have been nice if the waitress had told us this instead of getting 2 serves of the same thing - not sure if that was a money grab tbh. Appreciate that they took $40 off the receipt for the sparkling water but we didn’t even get sparkling water so that was silly! They did offer a free bottle of wine, but a genuine apology would have been better. There are way better options in the area than this and we will be going there instead.

☑️ Beautiful place. Absolutely stunning. The ambience and atmosphere inside and out is incredible. ☑️ All our dishes were solid. The portions are small and the prices high though. We weren’t full. Nothing really had a WOW factor though. But it was fine. ❎ The service wasn’t particularly great. The guy at the front desk was very accommodating but the waiters were far from attentive. Weird though the girl (British accent) couldn’t stop talking about everything with the people in front of us right down to how much the new section cost but every time we tried to signal her for water or even to look at a dessert menu or order coffees she was non existent. We didn’t order dessert, couldn’t even get someone to get us the bill and had to go to the front to sort it out. Mind you it was very quiet and there were many people around. Pretty substandard for a place which is fine dining. Still a beautiful place. Perhaps an off day.

Disappointed and Overpriced – Not Worth It! I had high expectations for Levantine Hill Estate, but sadly it was a big letdown. The food was very underwhelming – flavors were bland and not worth the premium pricing. I was shocked to see a single skewer of lamb priced at $18. Seriously? For that price, I expected something amazing, but it was just average at best. Overall, extremely disappointed. Definitely not coming back. There are far better places in the Yarra Valley that offer both great food and value for money. 😤

Google
The staff were attentive, treated us with respect and catered to complex dietary needs. Thank you very much. We felt the share plates were too small to be true sharing in the Mediterranean style and overpriced for the size of the serve. The food itself was tasty, well prepared and nicely presented. We particularly enjoyed the chocolate and pistachio dessert.

Thank you for having us for our wedding anniversary! The staff were absolutely beautiful and the food was amazing! The chef came and greeted everyone after lunch to ask about our meal. What a beautiful winery to visit!

We had an amazing experience for our anniversary. The food and wine were excellent and the atmosphere and view was phenomenal. A special thanks to Jordan, the sommelier who guided us through a wonderful wine tasting before lunch. His knowledge and passion for the wines added so much to the experience. Our waiter (whose name I unfortunately can't remember) was also fantastic, attentive, friendly and made sure we had a great afternoon. Thank you Levantine Hill for making our anniversary so memorable. We can’t wait to return!

Google
Another interesting winery and restaurant complemented by some amazing architectural design and a brilliant sculpture park. We stop here every time we're cruising around the district.

Yelp
I searched ChatGPT for Best Wineries in Yarra Valley. This was on the list as the Ultra-luxury option. Sure enough, we passed a helicopter and several luxury vehicles on the way to park. My wife and I did separate tastings so we could share a combined assortment of 8 estate wines. While I usually lean toward Cabs, the standouts here were the Syrahs and a particular Melange blend. Super smooth and just incredible. Heather was helping us and she was an absolute delight! Highly knowledgable, personable, spirited and fun! We stayed for lunch and opted for the a la carte menu. HIGHLY RECOMMEND the slow cooked lamb shoulder and the potato side. The lamb meat fell right off the bone and had the perfect outside char with tender interior. Great mix of middle eastern inspired spices. And the potato side had this sauce that blew my mind! Hard to describe.... A dark fusion of pesto, chimichurri and God knows what else... blended perfectly. This place was TOPS!! I'd come back for sure!

Yelp
We were a group of 5 but had to share a 3 course fixed menu @ $88 including 10% weekend surcharge.the first course was fixed Middle East entrees-no choice The table was forced to select the optional extra 2 courses for the whole table- no exceptions. Most disappointing that we each could not select our meal at this price. Seems very unreasonable for this money no flexibility Food was ok - servings very minimal and generally not value for money

Yelp
What a jewel. Levantine Hill has a beautiful cellar door, as well as brilliant (award winning) wines with prices to match. The Pinot Noir is a stunner, yet the Syrah might have the edge for best of the bunch here. Whatever you choose, you can't go wrong. They have a show-stopping list of fabulous wines. The atmosphere is a bit uppity though still pleasant, and the tastings will run you 15$ per person (though that gets waived with a purchase of some amount). That said, the wine is the star. So so glad I stopped here.
