Leven Manchester

Exceptionally well located for the bars on Canal Street. A well pointed cosy and welcoming reception area. The hotel bedroom floors are stylishly dimly lit and there is a lift to take you to your floor. The rooms are spacious, complete with en-suite shower room (with great water flow and temperature), well resourced kitchenette (with snacks and minibar fridge, dishwasher, hob, sink, bin, plates, pans, glasses and cutlery etc.) by the large industrial sized window (with a blind and separately a blackout blind). The mattress was comfortable, albeit a little soft for me (personal taste). Bedding was very nice. Noise from the bars was evident but ear plugs helped. The addition of a washer dryer could have been very useful, if I had been staying longer. Leven socks are provided instead of slippers (not my thing, but more sustainable I suppose) and there could have been an amenity kit in the bathroom provided. Aircon was great. Staff at reception were incredibly friendly, helpful, quick to respond and quick on checkin. Overall, it met my expectations based on reviews and photos, but I was left wondering if the hotel provided any breakfast (this was never mentioned, but maybe I missed reading about it when booking). A lovely place I would definately return to, albeit not the cheapest 9+ rated hotel on Booking; still, I like to support LGBT+ friendly hotels.

Everything about our two night stay at the Leven over the Halloween weekend was perfect. We arrived by coach from Victoria, caught the City free bus to Chorlton Coach station and walked 1 minute to Canal Street in the heart of the Gay Village. What a wonderful atmosphere; friendly, pretty and lively. The 43 room/suite hotel converted from an old cotton mill retains the original brick walls and has been designed with no expense spared. It is just beautiful! Our suite on the second floor, was nothing short of gorgeous with large double glazed windows, fully fitted kitchen, a living room, large bedroom with free standing bath and luxurious bathroom. The king size bed, crisp linen and down pillows were much appreciated. The staff were warm, attentive and efficient. We drank a cocktail before dinner, relaxed with a Talisker in the bar and ate a delicious 3 course meal at the Maya restaurant on the first evening. The Leven is the only hotel I would return to in the vibrant city of Manchester. It is faultless!

We booked a room at the Leven for one night. The hotel is modern, clean, and the bed was cery comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had an issue with our key card and were locked out of our room however the staff fixed this quickly and we were offered a drink whilst we waited. There was occasional noise during the night from the street outside however this is to be expected at a city centre location and ear plugs are provided if needed. We would definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends

Had a phenomenal 4-day stay here over my birthday - location is excellent, all the staff were incredibly polite and charming, and the room is a whole other story!!! Absolutely obsessed and has everything you need for your stay including washing machine and dishwasher tablets. The window overlooks Canal St and at night with the window open it can be quite loud however the rooms even come with ear plugs! Incredibly thoughtful. We enjoyed this hotel so much we spent one day just hanging out there and not seeing the town haha. Truly relaxing and would stay here every time I come to Manchester if not plan visits to Manchester just to come here. Everything was 10/10! Thank you so much Leven!!!

Great, central location, a few mins from the tram on which I was able to easily get to a concert at coop live. Lovely big room, clean, comfortable bed. Cooking facilities, fridge, table and chairs also available if required. It was noisy all night due to a club being right outside the window, however complimentary ear plugs were provided which quietened the noise. Staff were helpful. No complaints. Great hotel, I recommend it and would use again. I did feel it was expensive at £194 but it seems that is the price you have to pay for a decent room on a Saturday night in the city centre, cheaper priced accommodation I looked had very unfavourable reviews!

A very noisy hotel, got no sleep all night as there was a nightclub somewhere in the vicinity of my room, no warning from staff that this was a noisy room. Unacceptable for a Monday night. Breakfast was non existent in the sister restaurant, chef didn’t turn up so it was a coffee and a slice of warburtons toast! |Would not recommend if you actually want to get a good nights rest.

A fab one night stay here. Bed really comfy and room lovely and light. Lars greeted us/checked us in - a very lovely chap who went above and beyond multiple times :) Ellen gave us a great breakfast recommendation too. Thanks guys!!

The staff are pleasant but this hotel is very uncomfortable. Multi level rooms but no doors make it loud and difficult, for example: the bathroom door opens right onto the stairs and the stairs creak like they're medieval - so if anyone uses the bathroom at night, they're going to wake up everyone. Plus on weekends, there's outside noise and cars honking until 3am. I would recommend somewhere else if you need to rest.
